Studies on Influence & Protection Measures to Vehicle Bumping at Bridge-head of Highway

Highway vehicle bumping at bridge-head not only influences the running speed, traffic safety & comfort, but also damages the bridge-head, abutment pavement and bridge retractor device, which will impact immediately the service life and social benefit of the highway. Combined with the practice, the impacts on vehicle bumping at bridge-head were analyzed from design, construction and maintenance,etc. Finally, the prevention measures to bumping were applied from the treatment of foundation, subgrade and pavement, the complete installation of drainage facility and the strengthening of construction quality.
