| Abstract: | Shannan Reservoir completed in 1974,lies in Shannan River,the branch of Tao River,it had once some problems in its earth dam quality,such as percolating from dam slope downstream,poor compactness of the dam body,high phreatic line in the dam and clogging of inverted filter in the dam toe.In the light of these problems,two main dam strengthening schemes were proposed.In this paper,the content of the dam strengthening schemes is introduced.The scheme selected finally,in brief,is a scheme that the composite geomemebrane is paid on dam surface upstream,it has not only solved all the problems metioned above,but saved about 300,000 Yuan.Now,the reservoir is being operated well since the dam strengthening project was completed in Sept.1999.The height of the earth dam and the total capacity of the reservoir being 40 m and 5,350,000 m 3 respectively. |
