Studies on the Phenomenon of Terminological Variations

The author holds that we should introduce other principles and methods on the basis of the traditional terminology principles and methods,like the principle of variation,the principles of linguistic redundancy and the arbitrariness of the language sign.By studying the examples from Chinese and English terms and using the method of classifications,the authors finds that terminological variations not only refer to the different variants of the terms,but also to the conceptual differences of the same term.Types of the variation are also discussed in the paper.
