New Developments in Trevira CS for Furnishing Fabrics and Home Textiles

The first part of this article reports on new developments in the use of flame retardant polyester fibers in bed and table linens. These are two areas where comfort is an important element, but where the necessary care properties must also be present. The second part reports on comparative investigations of pilling and abrasion behavior, which seek to show the extent to which there is any correlation between laboratory performance, as measured on the Martindale apparatus, and the results of field trials carried out on upholstery fabrics. The burning behavior of these fabrics is of interest, too, when they are tested in combination with foam materials. There is detail on a series of foams used in combination with Trevira CS.
