Abstract: | As a fundamental investigation of gas/liquid two-phase lubrication under reciprocating conditions, the behaviour of oil films between a reciprocating plate and a stationary optical flat was observed. It was found that under reciprocating conditions the dynamic behaviour of oil films with free boundaries was influenced by complicated interfacial phenomena, showing creep, notching and separation of their contours. Analysis of the results clarified the influencing factors and the inherent conditions in the characteristics types of film contours |
