| Abstract: | A technique employing diagnostic ultrasound to evaluate lateral pharyngeal wall motion during connected discourse is described. The validity and reliability of the procedure are discussed. Typical displacement patterns are shown for normal speakers and applications to cleft palate and laryngectomized speakers discussed. |
