The Applications of Trigger Tube in High Voltage SMPS Protection Circuit

Trigger tube is a kind of gas discharge tube which is used widely.The applications of trigger tube in high voltage SMPS protection circuit are introduced.Firsdy,the physical structure and operating principle of trigger tube is analyzed.Then two kinds of SMPS protection circuits that based on trigger tube are introduced,including load protection circuit and power supply protection circuit.Taking TWT power supply as an example,the circuits structure and operation principle of the two protection circuits are analyzed.At last,experiments are given to verify the protection function.Experiments display that trigger tube behaves the characteristic of quick-reaction capability,and is able to solve the protection problems for feedback delay in high voltage SMPS effectively.
