Abstract:Cr3C2-FeCrBSi composite coatings were sprayed on D2 steel by High Velocity Air Fuel Spray (HVAF). The microstructure, mechanical and wear properties of Cr3C2-FeCrBSi composite coatings were tested by optical microscope (OM), Vickers hardness tester, scanning electron microscope (SEM), universal tensile tester and friction and wear tester to study the effect of different nano-micro proportions of Cr3C2 reinforcement elements on composite coatings. The results showed that the Cr3C2-FeCrBSi composite coatings consist of Fe, Cr3C2, Cr2O3 and Cr7C3 phase. Under optimized parameter, the bonding strength between the composite coating and D2 steel can reach 43MPa and the coating porosity is about 5.4%. Because of the existence of Cr3C2 ceramic phase, the surface hardness of the composite coating is very high with an average hardness 449HV0.3, which is much larger than that of D2 steel (287HV0.3). At room temperature, the Cr3C2-FeCrBSi composite coating exhibited good wear resistance. The abrasive wear is the main friction and wear mechanism.
