Abstract: | Adhesive bonding for steel construction. The question how to produce a structural member and to assemble them is of crucial importance for steel constructions. Since high performance adhesive bonding techniques are available, new developments in the field of new structural elements made of steel or of steel and glass are possible. In this paper new structural elements out of the field of steel or steel‐glass structures are presented that would not have been feasible without adhesive bonding. After a short introduction into the basics of bonding engineering some examples of still ongoing developments or already successfully introduced solutions of structurally bonded steel are given. |
