Abstract:The origin of the DNA cleavage reaction due to green cobalt(III)-bleomycin hydroperoxide irradiated by light (366 nm) was developed; the importance of the activation of the peroxide ion by transferring an electron from the occupied orbital to the σ*-orbital of the peroxide ion was pointed out.
