Abstract: | Solid solutions of nine pseudobinary metal chalcogenides: (PbSn)Te, (PbSn)Se, (HgCd)Te, (HgCd)Se, (HgZn)Te, (CdZn)Te, (PbGe)Te, Cd(TeSe) and Pb(TeSe) were prepared. Complete reaction was observed at temperatures significantly lower than the respective melting points in 3–7 days, except for the Cd(TeSe) system. Homogenization required higher temperatures, but still below the melting points, and durations of up to 14 days. The alloy compositions were determined by X-ray diffraction. |
