Additive manufacturing (AM) technologies provide more freedom to functional part design in various industries. One of the unique capabilities of AM is that multi-material parts can be produced with material compositional and geometric complexity. Multi-material parts have the advantage of achieving multiple performance requirements. In the research, we propose a framework for designing multi-material parts using AM processes. The proposed framework is composed of four interacting modules, including design requirement identification, primary material selection, AM process selection, material composition, and part geometry determination. Rules and guidelines for AM are integrated into the proposed framework with AM processes’ capabilities and constraints compiled in databases. We also introduce databases to assist in decision-making and ensure manufacturability of the designed multi-material part in various product design phases. The proposed framework is applied to a case study involving a conceptual design of a multi-material battery pack cooling plate.  相似文献

In the current metal forming product development paradigm, the simultaneous and optimal design of product, process and forming system is a non-trivial issue as there are many affecting factors which interact and interplay each other. In the up-front design process, the systematic evaluation and verification of design solution is critical as this could shift the product development paradigm from traditionally trial-and-error and heuristic know-how to more scientific calculation, analysis and simulation. To ensure the efficient and accurate assessment and evaluation of design solution generation, state-of-the-art technologies need to be developed. In this paper, a methodology for systematic evaluation and verification of the simultaneous design of metal forming product, process, and forming system is presented. The factors which affect these designs are first articulated and how they interact and interplay are described. The importance of the systematic evaluation of designs is, thus, figured out. In addition, the role that CAE simulation plays in this process is explained. To evaluate the design, detailed evaluation criteria are developed and how the criteria are used through CAE simulation technology to reveal the behaviors and performances of designs is articulated. Through case studies, the developed technology is illustrated and its efficiency is finally verified.  相似文献

In today’s manufacturing scenario, accounting for manufacturability considerations at the product design stage is not an option but a necessity. When CAD/CAM tools are used to reduce design lead times, accounting for manufacturing process related considerations implicitly is often difficult. Availability of manufacturability advisor systems that analyze part geometry and other product related information for ease of manufacturing could be a solution to this problem. The purpose of a manufacturability assessment is to give feedback to the designer in order to make the product/process more effective. Present research is concerned with the development of an automated manufacturability advisor for sheet metal components. Unlike most of the work done in the past that concentrated on bending and other forming processes, present work deals with sheet metal components manufactured by two different processes, namely “spinning” and “rollforming”. Effectiveness of the proposed manufacturability advisor is demonstrated by taking the number of industrial parts as examples.  相似文献

提出一种面向并行工程的产品可制造性逐步评价方法,其评价对象可以是产品详细设计阶段的不完整的特征模型,因而可在设计过程中的任一时刻进行可制造性评价。为了保证评价方法的连贯性和评价速度,仅对前一次评价之后可能产生新的可制造性问题的特征进行评价。对产品设计过程中的特征的改变状态进行了研究,提出在产品设计过程中确定特征之间可制造性影响关系的方法,并通过影响关系找出确需进行评价的特征集合,然后采用基于规则的方法来评价特征的可制造性。  相似文献

Successful supply chain management calls for robust supply chain design and evaluation tools. Many published papers focused on high level strategic aspects of supply chain design and the results are usually generic guidelines for business executives rather than specific tools for plant managers. In this paper, we present a decision-based methodology for supply chain design that a plant manager can use to select suppliers. The methodology utilizes the techniques of analytic hierarchy process and preemptive goal programming. Supply chain operations reference model level I performance metrics are incorporated into the methodology as the decision criteria. In addition, a set of performance metrics is developed to evaluate the overall supply chain effectiveness, which allows direct comparison of different supply chain designs.  相似文献

Product developers usually rely on their experience and knowledge during the design process to generate manufacturable products that can fulfill the required functions. Product developers make various decisions during the course of developing a modular product that affect the functional, physical, and operational structures, which either enhance or reduce the manufacturability of the products. This paper proposes constructing manufacturing response models by modeling the behavior of the manufacturability as a response to the series of decisions made during the design process. The manufacturability response models are mathematical models used to relate the product manufacturability to the different metrics used to quantify the results of the design decisions made during the development life cycle. Decisions made during the design process includes specifying the product functionalities needed to meet customer needs, the physical components capable of delivering the required functionalities, and the manufacturing processes needed to produce the physical components. Manufacturing response models can be used by product developers to predict the effect of the decisions made during the course of developing a modular product on the final modular product manufacturability. Furthermore, this paper demonstrates the construction of the manufacturing response models and their usage in new product design by using an illustrative example.  相似文献

Innovative design in the development of new product and process has become the core value in most business establishments. These innovative designs are often associated with the long-established trade-off compromises or conflicting performance parameters where speed and reliability or quality and cost are readily acknowledged. The rate of change in technology and the commercial environment suggests that the opportunity for innovative design is accelerating and systematic support for innovation process is needed. This study combines the Russian theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) and the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) for designing the automated manufacturing systems. This study applied the contradiction matrix table, 40 innovative principles, and 39 engineering parameters to compromise the trade-off between design contradictions and engineering parameters. The design engineers can acquire more feasible solutions and inspiration through the proposed approach. However, due to vagueness and uncertainty in the decision maker’s judgment, an AHP is employed as a decision support tool that can adequately represent qualitative and subjective assessments under the multiple criteria decision making environment. Moreover, the proposed approach can help decision makers facilitate the selection and evaluation of innovative designs in the presence of intangible attributes and uncertainty. In short, the objectives of this research are to use TRIZ to propose the automated design alternatives under the innovative design consideration and to use an AHP to evaluate and select the best feasible alternative under multiple criteria. A case study of designing automated connector assembly line has been used to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed approach.  相似文献

Early design assessment activities have a significant impact on reducing the cost of manufacture. The efficient utilisation of the product development time and the level of coordination of the early design activities between the major stakeholders are becoming key factors for success in manufacturing today. The paper reports on a new distributed early design manufacturability assessment methodology using collaborative autonomous agents. A product data model compliant with STEP AP224 and corresponding process and facility data models are proposed to support the decision-making process. XML was used as a medium for exchange of requests and information between design, manufacturing, and facility planning agents. A prototype Web-enabled system for rapid product manufacturability assessment in the extended enterprise has been developed using distributed multi-agent CORBA objects. The reported research is a step towards the development of a generic prototype tool for collaborative design evaluation and rapid assessment of the manufacturing feasibility and resource availability at different stages of the product development process.  相似文献

虚拟制造是一种新的制造模式,可制造性评价是其关键技术之一,在虚拟制造中进行合理有效的可制造性评价具有重要意义。可制造性评价是与制造资源密切相关的,脱离具体的制造资源环境进行的可制造性评价没有任何意义。利用模糊分组技术和面向对象技术,建立了制造资源的功能单元和设备工艺能力双层模型,为后续的可制造性评价和成本评估提供信息支持。  相似文献

阐述了面向制造的设计的相关概念、关键技术和实现模式。从企业目标要求和注重全局变化的角度,对构建面向制造的设计中的可制造评价体系提出相应准则。列举了面向制造的设计系统的几种实现模式,并讨论其应用现状和前景。结合课题实践,介绍一种利用高端CAD软件的信息环境开展设计模型加工性能检查的方法。实践表明,利用面向制造的设计系统对设计模型进行制造性评价,可以促进产品开发过程中各功能环节的协调并行,提高产品开发流程的效能。  相似文献
