There are many standards which are relevant for building safety- or mission-critical software systems. An effective standard is one that should help developers, assessors and users of such systems. For developers, the standard should help them build the system cost-effectively, and it should be clear what is required in order to conform to the standard. For assessors, it should be possible to objectively determine compliance to the standard. Users, and society at large, should have some assurance that a system developed to the standard has quantified risks and benefits. Unfortunately, the existing standards do not adequately fulfil any of these varied requirements. We explain why standards are the way they are, and then provide a strategy for improving them. Our approach is to evaluate standards on a number of key criteria that enable us to interpret the standard, identify its scope and check the ease with which it can be applied and checked. We also need to demonstrate that the use of a standard is likely either to deliver reliable and safe systems at an acceptable cost or to help predict reliability and safety accurately. Throughout the paper, we examine, by way of example, a specific standard for safety-critical systems (namely IEC 1508) and show how it can be improved by applying our strategy  相似文献

Support Vector Machines for Classification in Nonstandard Situations   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10  
The majority of classification algorithms are developed for the standard situation in which it is assumed that the examples in the training set come from the same distribution as that of the target population, and that the cost of misclassification into different classes are the same. However, these assumptions are often violated in real world settings. For some classification methods, this can often be taken care of simply with a change of threshold; for others, additional effort is required. In this paper, we explain why the standard support vector machine is not suitable for the nonstandard situation, and introduce a simple procedure for adapting the support vector machine methodology to the nonstandard situation. Theoretical justification for the procedure is provided. Simulation study illustrates that the modified support vector machine significantly improves upon the standard support vector machine in the nonstandard situation. The computational load of the proposed procedure is the same as that of the standard support vector machine. The procedure reduces to the standard support vector machine in the standard situation.  相似文献

Technology standard and technology innovation are the core factors affecting market competition. Technology standardization plays an important role in promoting competitive advantages and improving industrial innovation system. It is the key that helps to build standard systems and making industrial policy. Standards have played an important role in the evolution of information and communication technology. By analyzing the synergistic mechanism and exterior factors, this paper proposes a new conceptual model consisted of a relative motion model of technology standard and technology innovation, and a volatility model of technology standardization and industrial technology innovation. Based on the analysis, this paper argues that high quality technology innovation can promote technology standard and high-level technology standard that is widely implemented can boost technology innovation. The analysis also shows that there exist cooperative effects between technology standardization and industrial technology innovation.  相似文献

介绍AVS标准,包括针对高分辨率和高码率应用的AVS1-P2、针对低分辨率和低码率应用的AVS1-P7。描述该标准采用的视频编码工具集,将其与同时期的国际标准H.264/AVC进行比较。实验结果表明,AVS标准可以获得与H.264/AVC标准相当的编码性能,且实现复杂度更低。  相似文献

We develop two sequential procedures to compare a finite number of designs with respect to a single standard. The goal is to identify a good design, and ensure that the standard is chosen when other alternatives are not better than the standard. We give preference to the standard since there are costs and time involved when replacing the standard. These procedures can be used when the expected performance of the standard is known or unknown, when variances across designs are unequal, and with the variance reduction technique of common random numbers. An experimental performance evaluation demonstrates the validity and efficiency of these sequential procedures.  相似文献

灵活宏块排序FMO(Flexible Macroblock Ordering)是H.264/AVC标准提出的一项非常有效的容错机制,其中包括六种标准的FMO方式,其针对不同的视频序列以及信道特点各有优劣。通过仿真分析了标准中六种FMO方式的特点,提出了一种新的双螺旋FMO方式。仿真结果表明该方式在一定的编码码率条件下能取得更好的信道传输适应性,且容错效果优于大多数标准的FMO方式。  相似文献

In highly competitive industries such as computing and communications, standards serve many purposes: They ensure equal access to primary technology, increase competition, help grow markets, and spark innovation. To guarantee fairness and accessibility, the originators of new standards often form trade associations to manage the technology and oversee the work of developing future technologies. The standard of good practices for association management companies (ANSI/IAAMC A100.1-2002) is the basis of a new accreditation program sponsored by the International Association of Association Management Companies. A new standard raises the bar for association management companies. After examining various methods, it determined that creating an American National Standard was the best approach because 1) ANSI procedures ensure that the most impartial processes are used to create the standard and that no small group of interested parties dominates the standard; and 2) given ANSI's worldwide recognition, there is a higher likelihood that the standard is accepted as an independent measure of high quality.  相似文献

This paper is intended to provide an introduction to IEEE-STD-1241 [IEEE 1241, IEEE draft standard for terminology and test methods for analog-to-digital converters], a draft standard for analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). This standard has been generated by the IEEE TC-10 working group and is intended to establish common terms, definitions, and test methods for ADCs. The TC-10 ADC Subcommittee is coordinating with the IEC to insure that these two organizations can support one international standard for ADCs. In this paper, the basic contents of the standard are described followed by examples of applications of the test methods from the standard. Testing procedures and results are included for specific ADCs used in video and in telecommunications. These practical examples are intended to emphasize the value of having an accepted standard for terms and test methods associated with testing and specifying ADCs.  相似文献

现有基于身份的多代理多签名方案要么缺乏形式化的安全证明,要么在随机预言模型下可证明安全。但是随机预言模型依赖现实世界无法实现的随机预言机,而标准模型不采用随机预言机,能实现完全透明的安全模拟。以Paterson的签名机制为基础,该文提出一种新的基于身份多代理多签名方案,并且结合(多)代理(多)签名敌手模型和Paterson定义的标准安全模型,定义了基于身份多代理多签名的标准模型。在此模型下,新方案的安全性被规约为多项式时间敌手求解计算Diffie-Hellman问题,实现了可证明安全性。  相似文献

It is the policy of the IEEE and many other standard-setting organizations to request that any patented technology incorporated into a technical standard be made available to all users of the standard on reasonable and nondiscriminatory (RAND) terms. By the same token, such organizations typically require that participants engaged in formulating a standard disclose whether the proposed standard's use would infringe patents that their companies own. 针对常见的交通道路最短路径问题, 提出标准矩形网络的概念, 分析其节点间最短路径的性质, 并在此基础上给出一种新颖的最短路径求解算法. 该算法利用标准矩形网络的几何性质, 简化了搜索方向和步长的判断, 同时指出常见的交通道路网络一般均可以整体或部分化为标准矩形网络. 与常见的求取最短路径的Dijkstra、Floyd、ACO、A* 等算法进行仿真实验比较, 实验结果表明, 对于大规模标准矩形道路网络, 所提出算法具有更好的寻优精度、稳定性和寻优速度.
