A one-dimensional self-consistent fluid numerical model was developed to study the ignition characteristics of a pulse-modulated(PM) radio-frequency(RF) glow discharge in atmospheric helium assisted by a sub-microsecond voltage excited pulsed discharge. The temporal evolution of discharge current density and electron density during PM RF discharge burst was investigated to demonstrate the discharge ignition characteristics with or without the pulsed discharge. Under the assistance of pulsed discharge, the electron density in RF discharge burst reaches the magnitude of 1.87 × 10~(17) m~(-3) within 10 RF cycles, accompanied by the formation of sheath structure. It proposes that the pulsed discharge plays an important role in the ignition of PM RF discharge burst. Furthermore, the dynamics of PM RF glow discharge are demonstrated by the spatiotemporal evolution of the electron density with and without pulsed discharge. The spatial profiles of electron density, electron energy and electric field at specific time instants are given to explain the assistive role of the pulsed discharge on PM RF discharge ignition.  相似文献

The study of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) discharge is vital for its application in gas-insulated equipment. Direct current partial discharge (PD) may cause SF6 decomposition, and the decomposed products of SF6, such as F atoms, play a dominant role in the breakdown of insulation systems. In this study, the PD caused by metal protrusion defects is simulated by a needle-plate electrode using pulsed high voltage in SF6/Ar mixtures. The spatial and temporal characteristics of SF6/Ar plasma are analyzed by measuring the emission spectra of F and Ar atoms, which are important for understanding the characteristics of PD. The spatial resolved results show that both F and Ar atom spectral intensities increase first from the plate anode to the needle and then decrease under the conditions of a background pressure of 400 Pa, peak voltage of −1000 V, frequency of 2 kHz, pulse width of 60 μs, and electrode gap of 5–9 mm. However, the distribution characteristics of F and Ar are significantly different. The temporal distribution results show that the spectral intensity of Ar decreases first and then increases slowly, while the spectral intensity of F increases slowly for the duration of the pulsed discharge at the electrode gap of 5 mm and the pulse width of 40–80 μs.  相似文献

The discharge operation regime of pulse modulated atmospheric radio frequency(RF) glow discharge in helium is investigated on the duty cycle and frequency of modulation pulses. The characteristics of radio frequency discharge burst in terms of breakdown voltage, alpha(α)-gamma(γ) mode transition voltage and current are demonstrated by the discharge current voltage characteristics. The minimum breakdown voltage of RF discharge burst was obtained at the duty cycle of 20% and frequency of 400 k Hz, respectively. The α-γ mode transition of RF discharge burst occurs at higher voltage and current by reducing the duty cycle and elevating the modulation frequency before the RF discharge burst evolving into the ignition phase, in which the RF discharge burst can operate stably in the γ mode. It proposes that the intensity and stability of RF discharge burst can be improved by manipulating the duty cycle and modulation frequency in pulse modulated atmospheric RF glow discharge.  相似文献

In this paper, removal of nitrogen oxide (NO) is investigated in capacitive atmospheric pressure discharges driven by both radio-frequency (RF) and trapezoidal pulsed power with a onedimensional self-consistent fluid model. The results show that the number density of NO could be reduced significantly once a short pulse of low duty ratio is additionally applied to the RF power. It is found that the process of NO removal by the pulse-modulated RF discharge could be divided into three stages:the quick reaction stage, the NO removal stage, and the sustaining stage.Furthermore, the temporal evolution of particle densities is analyzed, and the key reactions in each stage are discovered. Finally, the influence on the removal efficiency of the voltage amplitude of the pulse and the RF voltage amplitude is investigated.  相似文献

In this work, the pulsed hollow cathode discharges at low pressure argon with an axial magnetic field were studied. The results indicate that the pulsed discharge is operated in an enhanced glow(EG) mode. Under the same conditions, the discharge current of the pulsed discharge is two or three orders higher than that of the direct current discharge. The spatial and temporal evolution of the light emission shows that, the current fluctuation at the rising edge of the pulse plays an important role for the EG discharge of pulsed hollow cathode, which forms a high-density, highcurrent and long-distance plasma column outside the cavity.  相似文献

In this work, a single Al2O3 particle packed dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) reactor with adjustable discharge gap is built, and the influences of the particle shape (ball and column) and the residual gap between the top electrode and particle on the electrical and optical characteristics of plasma are studied. Our research confirms that streamer discharge and surface discharge are the two main discharge patterns in the single-particle packed DBD reactor. The strong electric field distortion at the top of the ball or column caused by the dielectric polarization effect is an important reason for the formation of streamer discharge. The length of streamer discharge is proportional to the size of the residual gap, but the number of discharge times of a single voltage cycle shows an opposite trend. Compared to the column, a smooth spherical surface is more conducive to the formation of large and uniform surface discharges. The surface discharge area and the discharge intensity reach a maximum when the gap is equal to the diameter of the ball. All in all, the results of this study will provide important theoretical support for the establishment of the synergistic characteristics of discharge and catalysis in plasma catalysis.  相似文献

In this paper, high resolution temporal-spatial diagnostics are employed to research the optical characteristics of nanosecond pulsed dielectric barrier discharge in needle-plate electrode configuration.Temporal-spatial distributions of discharge images, the emission intensities of opticaI emission spectra, and plasma vibrational and rotational temperatures are investigated.By analyzing the evolution of vibrational and rotational temperatures in space and time dimensions, the energy distribution and energy transfer process in plasma are also discussed. It is found that a diffuse structure with high density plasma concentrated in the region near the needle tip can be presented in nanosecond pulsed discharge, and an obvious energy transfer from electronic energy to vibration energy can be observed in each discharge pulse.  相似文献

In this paper, unipolar pulse (including positive pulse and negative pulse) and bipolar pulse voltage are employed to generate diffuse gas-liquid discharge in atmospheric N2 with a trumpet-shaped quartz tube. The current-voltage waveforms, optical emission spectra of excited state active species,FTIR spectra of exhaust gas components, plasma gas temperature, and aqueous H2O2,NO2-,and NO3-production are compared in three pulse modes, meanwhile, the effects of pulse peak voltage and gas flow rate on the production of reactive species are studied. The results show that two obvious discharges occur in each voltage pulse in unipolar pulse driven discharge, differently,in bipolar pulse driven discharge, only one main discharge appears in a single voltage pulse time. The intensities of active species (OH(A),and O(3p)) in all three pulsed discharge increase with the rise of pulse peak voltage and have the highest value at 200 ml min-1 of gas flow rate. The absorbance intensities of NO2 and N2O increase with the increase of pulse peak voltage and decrease with the increase of gas flow rate.Under the same discharge conditions, the bipolar pulse driven discharge shows lower breakdown voltage, and higher intensities of excited species (N2(C),OH(A),and O(3p)),nitrogen oxides (NO2,NO,and N2O),and higher production of aqueous H2O2,NO2-,and NO3-compared with both unipolar positive and negative discharges.  相似文献

With regard to the lower density and energy of electrons in pulsed discharge plasma (PDP) at atmosphere, leading to the lower energy utilization of plasma, we propose a MgO cathode to enhance the plasma intensity according to field emission principle. The MgO cathode is prepared by an electro-depositing MgO film on a stainless steel plate. This way, the positive charges come to the cathode and accumulate on the surface of the MgO film, leading to the enhancement of the electric field intensity between the cathode and MgO film, and result in the strong emission of secondary electrons from the MgO cathode. As a result, the intensity of plasma can be enhanced. Herein, the effect of the MgO cathode on the intensity of PDP is investigated. It was shown that the discharge peak current was improved by 20% compared with that of without the MgO cathode. With increasing the MgO film thickness, discharge intensity, including the peak current, transforming charge and spectrum intensity first increased and then decreased. Higher enhancement of peak current, transforming charge and spectrum intensity were acquired with a higher peak voltage. Compared to a cathode without MgO film, the ozone production is higher with MgO cathode employed. The research proposes a novel approach for improving the intensity of discharge plasma, and also provides a reference for further application of PDP.  相似文献

In this paper, volume barrier discharge with different gap distances is added on the discharge border of high-voltage electrode of annular surface barrier discharge for generating volume added surface barrier discharge (V-SBD) excited by bipolar nanosecond high-voltage pulse power in atmospheric air. The excited V-SBDs consist of surface barrier discharge (d=0 mm) and volume added surface barrier discharges (d=2 mm and 3 mm). The optical emission spectra are recorded for calculating emission intensities of N2 (C 3u →B3Πg ) and N2+ (B 2Σu+ → X 2Σg+ ), and simulating rotational and vibrational temperatures. The influences of gap distance of V-SBD on emission intensity and plasma temperature are also investigated and analyzed. The results show that d=0 mm structure can excite the largest emission intensity of N 2 (C 3 Πu →B 3Πg ), while the existence of volume barrier discharge can delay the occurrence of the peak value of the emission intensity ratio of N2+ (B 2Σu+ → X 2Σg+ )/N 2(C3Πu →B3Πg ) during the rising period of the applied voltage pulse and weaken it during the end period. The increasing factor of emission intensity is effected by the pulse repetition rate. The d=3 mm structure has the highest threshold voltage while it can maintain more emission intensity of N2(C3 Π u →B 3Πg ) than that of d=2 mm structure. The structure of d=2 mm can maintain more increasing factor than that of the d=3 mm structure with varying pulse repetition rate. Besides, the rotational temperatures of three V-SBD structures are slightly affected when the gap distance and pulse repetition rate vary. The vibrational temperatures have decaying tendencies of all three structures with the increasing pulse repetition rate.  相似文献

The plasma-jet triggered gas switch (PJTGS) could operate at a low working coefficient with a low jitter. We observed and analyzed the discharge process of the PJTGS at the lowest working coefficient of 47% with the trigger voltage of 40 kV and the pulse energy of 2 J to evaluate the effect of the plasma jet. The temporal and spatial evolution and the optical emission spectrum of the plasma jet were captured. And the spraying delay time and outlet velocity under different gas pressures were investigated. In addition, the particle in cell with Monte Carlo collision was employed to obtain the particle distribution of the plasma jet varying with time. The results show that, the plasma jet generated by spark discharge is sprayed into a spark gap within tens of nanoseconds, and its outlet velocity could reach 104ms−1. The plasma jet plays a non-penetrating inducing role in the triggered discharge process of the PJTGS. On the one hand, the plasma jet provides the initial electrons needed by the discharge; on the other hand, a large number of electrons focusing on the head of the plasma jet distort the electric field between the head of the plasma jet and the opposite electrode. Therefore, a fast discharge originated from the plasma jet is induced and quickly bridges two electrodes.  相似文献

Pulsed discharge plasma has exhibited active potential to prepare low molecular weight chitosan. In the present study, the viscosity of ehitosan solution was decreased noticeably after treated with pulsed corona discharge plasma. An experimental investigation on electrical characteristics of pulsed corona discharge plasma in chitosan solution was conducted with a view toward getting insight into discharge process. Factors affecting I-V curve, single pulse injec- tion energy and pulse width were studied. Experimental results showed positive effect of pulsed peak voltage on discharge plasma in chitosan solution. Pulse-forming capacitor greatly influenced the discharge form, and 4 nF was observed as a suitable value for efficiently generating stable discharge plasmas. As the electrode distance was larger than 10 ram, it had slight impact on dis- charge plasma due to the excellent conductive-property of chitosan solution. The injection energy significantly increased with air flow rate, while the pulse width hardly changed as the air flow rate increased from 0.5 m^3/h to 1.0 m^3/h. This study is expected to provide reference for promoting the application of pulsed corona discharge plasma to ehitosan solution treatment.  相似文献

Precise control of the discharge in space and time is of great significance for better applications of discharge plasma. Here, we used a femtosecond laser filament to trigger and guide a high-voltage DC pulse discharge to achieve spatiotemporal control of the discharge plasma. In space, the discharge plasma is distributed strictly along the channel generated by the femtosecond laser filament. The breakdown voltage threshold is reduced, and the discharge length is extended. In time, the electrical parameters such as the electrode voltage and the electrode gap affect discharge delay time and jitter. By optimizing the parameters, we can achieve sub-nanosecond jitter of the discharge. Based on the spatiotemporal control of the discharge, we applied filament-triggered discharge for one-dimensional composition measurements of the gas flow field. Besides, the technique shows great potential in studying the spatiotemporal evolution of discharge plasma.  相似文献

In the present study,a combination of pulsed discharge plasma and TiO_2(plasma/TiO_2)has been developed in order to study the activity of TiO_2by varying the discharge conditions of pulsed voltage, discharge mode, air flow rate and solution conductivity.Phenol was used as the chemical probe to characterize the activity of TiO_2in a pulsed discharge system. The experimental results showed that the phenol removal efficiency could be improved by about 10%by increasing the applied voltage. The phenol removal efficiency for three discharge modes in the plasma-discharge-alone system was found to be highest in the spark mode, followed by the spark–streamer mode and finally the streamer mode.In the plasma/TiO_2system,the highest catalytic effect of TiO_2was observed in the spark–streamer discharge mode, which may be attributed to the favorable chemical and physical effects from the spark–streamer discharge mode, such as ultraviolet light,O_3,H_2O_2,pyrolysis,shockwaves and high-energy electrons.Meanwhile, the optimal flow rate and conductivity were 0.05 m~3l~(-1)and 10μS cm~(-1),respectively.The main phenolic intermediates were hydroquinone, catechol, and p-benzoquinone during the discharge treatment process.A different phenol degradation pathway was observed in the plasma/TiO_2system as compared to plasma alone.Analysis of the reaction intermediates demonstrated that p-benzoquinone reduction was selectively catalyzed on the TiO_2surface.The effective decomposition of phenol constant(D_e)increased from 74.11%to 79.16%when TiO_2was added, indicating that higher phenol mineralization was achieved in the plasma/TiO_2system.  相似文献

To clarify direct impact characteristics (pressure and position) of middle-grade magnesite fragmentation by pulsed discharge in water, this work uses pressure film to accomplish passive measurement through pulsed discharge experiment and obtain the pressure. The impact position is determined by image analysis of fragmentation product morphology, crack edge and discharge channel. Then, pressure load on magnesite surface is numerically analyzed based on the measured pressure obtained from the film. Results indicate that, at 10 mm discharge gap, the impact pressure increases with the discharge voltage, and the discharge voltage to disintegrate magnesite is −40 kV. The impact position is normally in the boundary among different mineral components. Simulation analysis indicates that, the pressure load applied directly on magnesite surface is approximately 142.5 MPa at −40 kV and greater than the compressive strength of magnesite, thus leading to the fragmentation.  相似文献

In this paper, the air plasma jet produced by micro-hollow cathode discharge(MHCD) is investigated. The discharge is powered by a positive nanosecond pulse high voltage supply. The waveforms of the discharge, the images of the jet, the evolution of the plasma bullet and the reactive species are obtained to analyze the characteristics of the MHCD plasma jet. It is found that the length of the plasma jet is almost proportional to the air flow rate of 2–6 slm. Two plasma bullets appear one after another during a single period of the voltage waveform, and both of the two plasma bullets are formed during the positive pulse voltage off. The propagation velocity of the two plasma bullets is on the order of several hundred m/s, which is approximate to that of the air flow. These results indicate that the gas flow has an important influence on the formation of this MHCD plasma jet.  相似文献

Combining high-speed schlieren technology and infrared imaging technology, related research has been carried out on the influence of parameters such as actuation voltage, repetition frequency, and electrode size of an actuator on the discharge characteristics, induced flow field characteristics, and thermal characteristics of nanosecond pulsed dielectric barrier discharge. The results show that increasing the value of the actuation voltage can significantly increase the actuation intensity, and the plasma discharge area is significantly extended. Increasing the repetition frequency can increase the number of discharges per unit time. Both will cause more energy input and induce more changes in the flow field. The effect of temperature rise is more significant. The width of the covered electrode will affect the potential distribution during the discharge process, which in turn will affect the extension process of the plasma discharge filament. Under the same actuation intensity, the wider the covered electrode, the larger range the induced flow field and temperature rise is. Preliminary experimental analyses of high-frequency actuation characteristics, temperature field characteristics, flow field characteristics and actuation parameter settings provide support for the parameter selection and partial mechanism analysis of plasma anti-icing.  相似文献

Nonlinear behavior of glow discharge plasmas is experimentally investigated. The glow is generated between a barrier semiconductor electrode,Chromium doped namely Gallium Arsenide(Ga As:Cr),as a cathode and an Indium–Tin Oxide(ITO) coated glass electrode as an anode,in reverse bias. The planar nature of electrodes provides symmetry in spatial geometry. The discharge behaves oscillatory in the time domain, with single and sometimes multiperiodicities in plasma current and voltage characteristics. In this paper, harmonic frequency generation and transition to chaotic behavior is investigated. The observed current–voltage characteristics of the discharge are discussed in detail.  相似文献

The influence of actuating voltage and discharge gap on plasma assisted detonation initiation by alternating current dielectric barrier discharge was studied in detail.A loose coupling method was used to simulate the detonation initiation process of a hydrogen–oxygen mixture in a detonation tube under different actuating voltage amplitudes and discharge gap sizes. Both the discharge products and the detonation forming process assisted by the plasma were analyzed. It was found that the patterns of the temporal and spatial distributions of discharge products in one cycle keep unchanged as changing the two discharge operating parameters. However, the adoption of a higher actuating voltage leads to a higher active species concentration within the discharge zone, and atom H is the most sensitive to the variations of the actuating voltage amplitude among the given species.Adopting a larger discharge gap results in a lower concentration of the active species, and all species have the same sensitivity to the variations of the gap. With respect to the reaction flow of the detonation tube, the corresponding deflagration to detonation transition(DDT) time and distance become slightly longer when a higher actuating voltage is chosen. The acceleration effect of plasma is more prominent with a smaller discharge gap,and the benefit builds gradually throughout the DDT process.Generally, these two control parameters have little effect on the amplitude of the flow field parameters, and they do not alter the combustion degree within the reaction zone.  相似文献

Both experimental and simulated studies of microdischarge (MD) are carried out in a dielectric barrier discharge with a pin-to-pin gap of 3.5 mm, ignited by a sinusoidal voltage with a peak voltage of 10 kV and a driving frequency of 5 kHz. Statistical results have shown that the probability of the single current pulse in the positive half-period (HP) reaches 73.6% under these conditions. Experimental results show that great luminous intensity is concentrated on the dielectric surface and the tip of the metal electrode. A 1D plasma fluid model is implemented by coupling the species continuity equations, electron energy density equations, Poisson equation, and Helmholtz equations to analyze the MD dynamics on the microscale. The simulated results are in good qualitative agreement with the experimental results. The simulated results show that the MD dynamics can be divided into three phases: the Townsend phase, the streamer propagation phase, and the discharge decay phase. During the streamer propagation phase, the electric field and electron density increase with the streamer propagation from the anode to the cathode, and their maximal values reach 625.48 Td and 2.31 × 1019 m−3, as well as 790.13 Td and 3.58 × 1019 m−3 in the positive and negative HP, respectively. Furthermore, a transient glow-like discharge is detected around the anode during the same period of streamer propagation. The formation of transient glow-like discharge is attributed to electrons drifting back to the anode, which is driven by the residual voltage in the air gap.  相似文献
