The major contribution of this paper is the implementation of real time traffic and traveler information service through the terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB) system, which are known to be suitable for the mobile data services as well as audio and video services. The implemented system converts the Korean characteristic traffic information into the transport protocol expert group (TPEG) messages, and provides them to the T-DMB system. By testing the service with the TPEG message decoder implemented in the navigation system on PDA and laptop, it has turned out that it can be used as a highly efficient traffic information service system that could be adopted in Korea as well as in European countries  相似文献

提出一种新的广播交通信息数字地图服务系统设计方案,作为对现阶段国内广播交通信息服务的补充。新系统包括两个子系统,交通信息发布子系统与交通信息接收子系统。两个子系统间通过GPRS和短信息两种方式传递信息。该系统的示范样品已经实现,经过实际测验,达到预期的设计效果。  相似文献

Thanks to the great possibilities of providing different types of telecommunication traffic to a large geographical area, satellite networks are expected to be an essential component of the next‐generation internet. As a result, issues concerning the designing and testing of efficient connection‐admission‐control (CAC) strategies in order to increase the quality of service (QoS) for multimedia traffic sources, are attractive and at the cutting edge of research. This paper investigates the potential strengths of a generic digital‐video‐broadcasting return‐channel‐via‐satellite (DVB‐RCS) system architecture, proposing a new CAC algorithm with the aim of efficiently managing real‐time multimedia video sources, both with constant and high variable data rate transmission; moreover, the proposed admission strategy is compared with a well‐known iterative CAC mainly designed for the managing of real‐time bursty traffic sources in order to demonstrate that the new algorithm is also well suited for those traffic sources. Performance analysis shows that, both algorithms guarantee the agreed QoS to real‐time bursty connections that are more sensitive to delay jitter; however, our proposed algorithm can also manage interactive real‐time multimedia traffic sources in high load and mixed traffic conditions.  相似文献

基于数字音频广播(DAB)技术,文章提出了一种交通诱导信息广播系统和一种车载智能终端。交通诱导信息广播系统将高速发展的广播数字化技术与城市交通智能管理相结合,是集信息采编、信息发布、信息移动接收、交通实时导航、娱乐于一体的信息处理平台;车载智能终端基于DAB技术,是用于对车辆现代化管理的设备。交通诱导信息广播系统依托移动网络可以从服务车辆上获得全球定位系统(GPS)定位信息,从而监控和跟踪车辆;车载智能终端可以接收DAB信道的实时广播、动态路况、车辆的导航路径等信息。  相似文献

In digital broadcasting systems, like Eureka 147 DAB, it is possible to separate the actual service from the transmission system. Such a separation enables the distribution of any type of digital data to stationary, portable, or mobile terminals. However, a radio channel for mobile reception has certain characteristics to which existing multimedia services must adapt. We present a multimedia system model for digital broadcasting. In recent years, multimedia content broadcasting via satellite has attracted increased attention. The satellite digital multimedia broadcasting (S-DMB) system has emerged as one of the most promising alternatives for the efficient delivery of multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS). The design of an efficient radio resource management (RRM) strategy, especially the packet scheduling scheme, becomes a key technique for provisioning multimedia services at required quality of service (QoS) in S-DMB. In this article, we propose a novel cross-layer packet scheduling scheme that consists of a combined delay and rate differentiation (CDRD) service prioritization algorithm and a dynamic rate matching (DRM)-based resource allocation algorithm. The proposed scheme considers multiple key factors that span from the application layer to the physical layer, aiming at simultaneously guaranteeing diverse QoS while utilizing radio resources efficiently under the system power and resource constraints. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed cross-layer scheme achieves significantly better performance than existing schemes in queuing delay, jitter, and channel utilization.  相似文献

The design of efficient packet scheduling algorithms, which play a key role in the radio resource management (RRM), is crucial for the multimedia delivery in the satellite digital multimedia broadcasting (SDMB) system. In this paper, a novel packet scheduling scheme, which uses the cross-layer approach in its design, is proposed. This scheme comprises a new service prioritization algorithm and a dynamic rate matching based resource allocation algorithm, aimed at utilizing both the applications' QoS attributes and the physical layer data rate information. The performance of the proposed scheme has been evaluated via simulation. In comparison with existing schemes, the proposed scheme achieves significant performance gain on delay, delay variation and physical channel utilization.   相似文献

We introduce an advanced terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (AT‐DMB) system that overcomes the limitation of data transmission rates of T‐DMB by doubling it with the same frequency bandwidth. In this letter, we propose an efficient algorithm which generates a scalable transport stream in AT‐DMB by multiplexing certain types of elementary streams encoded using scalable video coding and an MPEG‐surround audio coder for high‐quality multimedia services.  相似文献

Digital broadcasting technology has developed focusing on multi‐channel/multi‐media, high‐definition quality, and mobility‐support. Recently, there has been a clear trend toward bidirectional service with the convergence between broadcasting and communication. The broadcasting viewer is no longer simply a passive receptor but has also become an information generator. Currently, the digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) specifications are the major standard for portable digital broadcasting and have been establishing the overall guidelines for bidirectional service using the MPEG‐4 system. While detailed specifications for DMB systems are not well‐established for bidirectional service yet, they share the basic concepts underlying the European Eureka‐147 Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system. This paper develops key scenarios for bidirectional service in DMB, describes the signal transaction of broadcasting and return channels, and demonstrates typical scenarios using binary format for scenes (BIFS) in the MPEG‐4 system.  相似文献

Experimental equipment to investigate multimedia service functions for application to MUSE (multiple sub-Nyquist sampling encoding) HDTV broadcasting has been developed. This system is called the multimedia MUSE system. Programs have also been produced to evaluate service functions of the system taking into account the capacity of the transmission path. This paper describes the configuration of the multimedia MUSE System, service examples, and evaluation of transmission capacity making use of test programs. Our studies reveal that multimedia broadcasting services can be provided when storage memory is installed for achieving interactive viewing and multimedia programs are appropriately configured. In addition, the services described here will provide the basic concept for multimedia broadcasting in future digital broadcasts  相似文献

Multimedia broadcasting has the benefits of versatile information representation, intelligent viewing environments, and economical systems. Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting (ISDB) presents a concept for future digital broadcasting systems. Full-scale multimedia broadcasting services can be realized by ISDB. There are two aspects in multimedia broadcasting from the viewpoint of ISDB. One is “transmission multimedia” and another is “presentation multimedia”. The former means that ISDB provides services by exploiting the characteristics of various types of broadcast channels. It also integrates all broadcast networks and is interoperable with communications and package media. The latter means that ISDB can flexibly combine and send various types of representation media that most appropriately convey the information. Multimedia broadcasting by ISDB is expected to achieve interactive viewing and to raise individual viewer satisfaction. ISDB will also make it possible to set up multiple small-scale broadcast stations and to provide a many-to-many information linking environment for transmitting information between an unspecified number of individuals  相似文献
