This paper presents a retrieval approach that uses concept languages to deal with nonverbally expressed information in multimedia. In operation, a finite number of elecepts of a concept language are identified and used to index multimedia documents. The elecepts then allow a large number of compound semantic queries to be expressed and operated as sentences of elecepts. We believe that managing semantics by concept languages is a prudent proposition. Not only does it extend an intuitive query regime where semantic queries can be specified more expressively and extensively, the approach also allows concept detection to be restricted to a more manageable sum of semantic classes. Semantic features are critical intelligence information for mobile ubiquitous multimedia, how to manage and retrieve the semantic information has been an important issue. In this paper, a novel semantic retrieval approach named Data Hiding based Semantic Retrieval (DHSR) for ubiquitous multimedia is proposed. This approach consists of the following features: (1) Every multimedia document has to be semantically annotated by several users before saved into multimedia database. (2) Semantic information described by object ontology will be hidden in the multimedia document data. (3) Semantic information will not be lost even if the multimedia document is copied, cut or leave the database. Our work provides a search engine with convenient user interfaces. The experimental results show that DHSR can search the multimedia documents reflecting users’ query intent more effectively compared with some traditional approaches. 相似文献

Efficient Cloud Image Retrieval System Using Weighted-Inverted Index and Database Filtering Algorithms 下载免费PDF全文
With the advance of multimedia technology and communications, images and videos become the major streaming information through the Internet. How to fast retrieve desired similar images precisely from the Internet scale image/video databases is the most important retrieval control target. In this paper, a cloud based content-based image retrieval (CBIR) scheme is presented. Database-categorizing based on weighted-inverted index (DCWⅡ) and database filtering algorithm (DFA) is used to speed up the features matching process. In the DCWⅡ, the weights are assigned to discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients histograms and the database is categorized by weighted features. In addition, the DFA filters out the irrelevant image in the database to reduce unnecessary computation loading for features matching. Experiments show that the proposed CBIR scheme outperforms previous work in the precision-recall performance and maintains mean average precision (mAP) about 0.678 in the large-scale database comprising one million images. Our scheme also can reduce about 50% to 85% retrieval time by pre-filtering the database, which helps to improve the efficiency of retrieval systems. 相似文献

The effective management and exploitation of multimedia documents requires the extraction of the underlying semantics. Multimedia
analysis algorithms can produce fairly rich, though imprecise information about a multimedia document which most of the times
remains unexploited. In this paper we propose a methodology for semantic indexing and retrieval of images, based on techniques
of image segmentation and classification combined with fuzzy reasoning. In the proposed knowledge-assisted analysis architecture
a segmentation algorithm firstly generates a set of over-segmented regions. After that, a region classification process is
employed to assign semantic labels using a confidence degree and simultaneously merge regions based on their semantic similarity.
This information comprises the assertional component of a fuzzy knowledge base which is used for the refinement of mistakenly
classified regions and also for the extraction of rich implicit knowledge used for global image classification. This knowledge
about images is stored in a semantic repository permitting image retrieval and ranking.
