China Aviation Oil Acquires Overseas Oil Company

China Aviation Oil (Singapore) announced an acquisition of a 20.6 percent stake in Singapore Petroleum Company (SPC) from Satya Capital Inc Ltd, the largest investment the company has ever made in its history. China Aviation Oil (Singapore),which is the largest Chinese enterprise Singapore,will become the second largest shareholder of SPC after the acquisition.

CNPC Successfully Acquires Kazak Oil Company China National Petroleum Corporation （CNPC） has recently announced that it successfully acquired PetroKazakhstan （PK）, a Kazak oil company headquartered in Canada. A local Canadian court in Alberta has approved the US$4.18-billon acquisition of PK by CNPC, which took over the company through its wholly-owned subsidiary China National Petroleum Corporation International （CNPCI）.

Latest Business Development of CNOOC

Oil field in South China Sea put into production CNOOC Limited, of which China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) is the parent company, announced on November 15 that Huizhou 19-3/2/1 field has produced first oil from Huizhou 19-3-1 Well at a rate of 6500 barrels per day. More wells in the block will be brought on stream gradually. Huizhou 19-3/2/1 field is located in block 16/08 and 16/19 about 120 kilometers southeast of Hong Kong in Eastern South China Sea.

PETROCHINA FIRST-HALF INCOME DECLINES ON LOWER OIL PRICE

PetroChina,the world's most valuable company of which China National Petroleum Corporation(CNPC)is the parent company,released its first-half profit in late August,which fell 7.2 percent after crude oil prices dropped as the global economic slowdown curbed demand for fuels.The Net income declined to 50.5 billion yuan from a restated 54.4 billion yuan a year earlier.That's higher than the median estimate of 49.9 billion yuan in a Bloomberg News survey of seven analysts.The sales reached 415.3 billion yuan.     

CNOOC WON TRI-NATION OFFSHORE EXPLORATION AGREEMENT

China National Offshore Oil Corporation （CNOOC） announced that one of its subsidiaries, CNOOC Oilfield Services Ltd. （hereinafter referred to as COS） began to conduct the Tripartite Agreement for Joint Marine Seismic Undertaking in the Agreement Area signed among CNOOC, Vietnam Oil ＆ Gas Corporation （PetroVietam） and the Philippine National Oil Company （PNOC） on August 26^th to do seismic survey in the South China Sea. This marks a new progress in the joint development and cooperation among China, Philippines and Vietnam in the disputed South China Sea area.     

Chinese bid for Unocal sparks fears of global clash over energy resources

A bid by China's state-owned offshore oil company for a privately-owned US upstream corporation has raised fears of a Chinese takeover of several other foreign companies as Peking tries to secure oil and gas reserves to fuel the country's booming economy. The China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has offered $19.6 bn for the California-based company, Unocal, the eighth-largest upstream company in the US in terms of reserves. The bid trumps an earlier one of $18.4 bn by US major Chevron, which had been accepted by Unocal's board and appeared to have the backing of many leading political figures in the US.

On Aug. 25, China National Offshore Oil Corporation （CNOOC） and WorleyParsons, a world famous project construction company, signed an agreement for jointly setting up Huizhou Refinery Project Construction Team in Beijing KEMPINSKI Hotel. Zheng Changbo, assistant president of CNOOC, Dong Xiaoli, general manager of Huizhou Refinery Project Team, and Lynn C. Fister, deputy general manager of WorleyParsons attended the signing ceremony.

China National Petroleum Corporation （CNPC）, China＇s largest oil company, has recently bought US$500 million worth of shares in Russian oil giant OAO Rosneft. Based on a statement released in mid-July, CNPC bought the 66.2252 million shares in Rosneft at US$7.55 per share. The Russian firm is scheduled to go public on both the London and Moscow stock exchanges in an initial public offering （IPO）, one of the largest of its kind worldwide.

Sino-Kazakh Crude Pipeline Starts Operation

The Sino-Kazakh Crude Oil Pipeline financed by China National Petroleum Corporation （CNPC） and KazMunaiGaz. the state oil company of Kazakhstan, was launched on December 15, 2005, thanks to the commitments and endeavors of governments and constructors of both countries. The pipeline, with diameter of 813 mm, the total length of 962.2 km running from the Kazakhstan Atasu in the west to China＇s Alashankou in the east. with the phase 1 designed annual capacity up to 10 million tons.
