A hybrid of Nested Partition, Binary Ant System, and Linear Programming for the multidimensional knapsack problem

This work presents a hybrid algorithm of Nested Partition (NP), Binary Ant System (BAS), and Linear Programming (LP) to solve the multidimensional knapsack problem (MKP). The hybrid NP+BAS+LP algorithm takes advantage of the global search strategies of the NP algorithm; the ability of BAS to quickly generate good solutions and incorporates information obtained from solving a LP relaxation of the MKP to help guide the search. It thus incorporates both the lower bounds (LB), found by the BAS, and the upper bounds (UB), found by solving the relaxed LP, into the search by embedding both in the NP framework. An adjustable computation budget is implemented where the number of samples increases if the LB and the UB point to different promising subregions. The proposed hybrid is compared to state-of-the-art solution techniques and is found to be one of the best algorithms in terms of the quality of solutions obtained and CPU time requirements.     

基于专家系统的建筑自动化系统故障诊断

针对建筑自动化系统(BAS)故障诊断日趋困难的问题,将专家系统与故障树分析法相结合,提出一种基于专家系统的BAS故障诊断方法。采用框架和规则相结合的知识表示法,建立相应的知识库。设计基于“框架规则+不确定性推理”的推理模式,给出专家诊断系统的实现方法。实验结果表明,该系统能提高推理结果的可用性。     

Leveraging operational technology and the Internet of things to attack smart buildings

In recent years, the buildings where we spend most part of our life are rapidly evolving. They are becoming fully automated environments where energy consumption, access control, heating and many other subsystems are all integrated within a single system commonly referred to as smart building (SB). To support the growing complexity of building operations, building automation systems (BAS) powering SBs are integrating consumer range Internet of things (IoT) devices such as IP cameras alongside with operational technology (OT) controllers and actuators. However, these changes pose important cybersecurity concerns since the attack surface is larger, attack vectors are increasing and attacks can potentially harm building occupants. In this paper, we analyze the threat landscape of BASs by focusing on subsystems which are strongly affected by the advent of IoT devices such as video surveillance systems and smart lightining. We demonstrate how BAS operation can be disrupted by simple attacks to widely used network protocols. Furthermore, using both known and 0-day vulnerabilities reported in the paper and previously disclosed, we present the first (at our knowledge) BAS-specific malware which is able to persist within the BAS network by leveraging both OT and IoT devices connected to the BAS. Our research highlights how BAS networks can be considered as critical as industrial control systems and security concerns in BASs deserve more attention from both industrial and scientific communities. Even within a simulated environment, our proof-of-concept attacks were carried out with relative ease and a limited amount of budget and resources. Therefore, we believe that well-funded attack groups will increasingly shift their focus towards BASs with the potential of impacting the live of thousands of people.

以沈阳地铁1号线为背景,对环境与设备监控系统和门禁系统进行分析,论证了将门禁系统集成到环境与设备监控系统的可行性,提出了依托地铁运营线路的环境与设备监控系统来建设门禁系统的设计方案。为了优化门禁系统的实施,提出了一种地铁无线门禁系统的设计和施工方法。     

Technical note Image processing in BASIC: An examination of its potential

Three programming applications in BASIC HIST.BAS for computing histograms, HE.BAS for histogram equalised stretch, and NDVI.BAS for deriving the homonymous vegetation index were constructed in an effort to examine the potential of BASIC to support image processing applications with concentration given in this study in processing of satellite images. The efficiency of the programs was examined to demonstrate high performances satisfactory for any use in the field of image processing, including educational, research, or operational applications.     

A bandwidth allocation scheme in fieldbuses

Field devices in factory automation and process control systems generate time-critical, periodic, and time-available data. These data share the bandwidth of one fieldbus network medium. This paper reviews a bandwidth allocation scheme (BAS) that is applicable to many different kinds of field-buses. The BAS satisfies the real-time transmission requirements of time-critical and periodic data, and fully utilizes the bandwidth resources of the fieldbus network. The basic concept of the BAS is introduced and its implementation in Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and CAN protocols is discussed.
