We propose the use of a short-cavity distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) laser with a modified active DBR structure, which has an n-type-doped active single quantum well, and that achieves fast wavelength switching that is potentially applicable for optical packet switching networks. The laser exhibits 6.4-nm continuous tuning by moderating a steep gain change at a low DBR injection current. Furthermore, 32-nm continuous tuning has also been achieved for an integrated laser with an eight-channel array. 相似文献

Access networks consume significant portion of the overall energy consumed by internet. The power consumption growth rate of internet is higher than any other consumer of energy. With the introduction of more and more bandwidth hungry applications, there is a huge pressure to reduce network energy consumption while still growing network capacity and functionality. We propose an energy and delay aware routing algorithm for fiber-wireless (FiWi) networks (EDAR) which not only reduce the energy consumption of the FiWi networks and but also does not degrade the overall delay of the network. We introduce dynamic thresholds for switching nodes into sleep and active mode. Our analyses show a significant reduction in the energy consumption of the FiWi networks while keeping the performance of the network up to an acceptable limit. 相似文献

In this paper we propose a novel idea for the synthesis of active circuits. We deal with the use of unity gain cells (voltage followers, voltage inverters, current followers, current inverters) for the design of simulated grounded inductors, multifunction filters and oscillators. The starting point of the proposed idea is the operation on the signal-flow graphs for such synthesis. We show that, thanks to the proposed technique, a wide number of active networks can be synthesised where all used passive components are grounded. 相似文献

Here we propose passive/active arrayed waveguide gratings (AWGs) with enhanced performance for system applications mainly in novel access architectures employing cascaded AWG technology. Two technologies were considered to achieve space wavelength switching in these networks. Firstly, a passive AWG with semiconductor optical amplifiers array, and secondly, an active AWG. Active AWG is an AWG with an array of phase modulators on its arrayed-waveguides section, where a programmable linear phase-profile or a phase hologram is applied across the arrayed-waveguide section. This results in a wavelength shift at the output section of the AWG. These architectures can address up to 6912 customers employing only 24 wavelengths, coarsely separated by 1.6 nm. Simulation results obtained here demonstrate that cascaded AWGs access architectures have a great potential in future local area networks. Furthermore, they indicate for the first time that active AWGs architectures are more efficient in routing signals to the destination optical network units than passive AWG architectures. 相似文献

Motivated by chaos technology and compressed sensing, we propose a distributed secure data collection scheme via chaotic compressed sensing in wireless sensor networks. The chaotic compressed sensing is applied to the encrypted compression of sensory data for sensor node and the data acquisition for whole sensory in wireless sensor networks. The proposed scheme is suitable for long-term and large scale wireless sensor networks with energy efficiency, network lifetime and security. A sensing matrix generation algorithm and active node matrix algorithm based on chaos sequence are proposed to ensure the secure and efficient transmission of sensor packets. The secret key crack, forgery, hijack jamming and replay attacks on the proposed algorithm are evaluated to show the robustness of this scheme. Simulations and real data examples are also given to show that the proposed scheme can ensure the secure data acquisition in wireless sensor networks efficiently. 相似文献

Unlike traditional cellular networks, which provide mainly voice services, there is, at present, no method that enables the effective management of terminal mobility for both active and idle mobile terminals in data networks. Although IP paging has been introduced to reduce power consumption of dormant mobile terminals, there is no concern to design an effective IP paging method for real wireless environments. Therefore, we propose a new dormant registration based IP paging method and analyze the effect of the dormant registration threshold used in IP paging on the performance of mobility management.
