对色散介质层采用洛仑兹振子模型,通过考虑色散介质层两边的边界条件,可以严格得到表征色散介质层的转移矩阵.通过改变介质层的不同参数,详细研究了含吸收型色散介质的对称光子晶体的腔极化激元.研究发现吸收型色散微腔和增益型色散微腔在简正模耦合,无定型展宽效应和失谐效应方面都可以表现出大致相似的性质,但其在透射强度和耦合模频率飘移方面都有着明显的不同.最后对同时含有吸收型色散介质层和Kerr非线性层的一维对称光子晶体的光双稳行为进行了研究,发现其形成双稳态所需的阈值入射光强比仅含Kerr非线性层的阈值入射光强有所降低. 相似文献

The properties of two photonic crystal waveguide modes at different frequencies that propagate down a straight photonic crystal waveguide are studied for cases in which the two modes interact with off-channel structures composed of Kerr nonlinear dielectric media. The optical nonlinearity of the off-channel structures mediates an interaction between the two modes that allows the modes to modulate the transmission of each other down the waveguide channel. This interaction and mutual modulation is shown to be pronounced in the case when either of the two waveguide modes resonantly excites a localized mode on the off-channel features formed of Kerr nonlinear media. Cases that are considered are a straight linear dielectric media waveguide with off-channel structures formed as: (a) a single off-channel Kerr site that supports a bound localized electromagnetic mode, (b) multiple off-channel Kerr sites that support a bound intrinsic localized electromagnetic mode, and (c) multiple off-channel Kerr sites that support an intrinsic localized mode that in turn interacts with a semi-infinite waveguide of linear dielectric media. In cases (a) and (b) the effects of resonant excitation of single site and intrinsic localized modes in the Kerr medium on the transmission characteristics are determined. In case (c) the effects of resonant excitation of intrinsic localized modes in the Kerr medium on the transmission characteristics of the two waveguide modes into the infinite and semi-infinite waveguides are studied. 相似文献

文章报道了在具有缺陷态的二维非线性介质材料的光子晶体中光的传播特征 ,光子晶体是含有多单元层的简单和复杂周期的介质结构。事实上 ,我们感兴趣的主要是缺陷模式的传播和局域的光强的增强因素。用转移矩阵方法 ,我们计算了光子晶体的电磁场波的传播 ;从而获得局域光的增强效应 ;这种方法计算了有限厚度材料的传播特性 ,数字结果表明非线性介质材料的缺陷结构的光传播能引起输入的光强度的改变 ;这种改变表现出双稳态特征 ;对于简单和复杂的光子晶体 ,假设输入的光强度是稳定的 ;这种双稳态特征就容易出现 ;对于复杂结构的光子晶体 ,则便显出复杂的特征。总的传输量是大的情况 ,双稳态也会出现。另外 ,缺陷介质的饱和吸收系数 ,折射率比值及介质层数值确定了双稳特性的可见性 相似文献

A double-prism attenuator, similar to the one built by Garnham for use at 35 Gc, was built in the laboratory for use at 100 Gc and above. We present a theory of optical bistability for a Fabry-Perot cavity containing a medium with nonlinear refraction but linear absorption with only plane-wave and slowly varying envelope approximations. An analytic expression for the critical intensity Ic for the onset of bistability is derived and used to compare cavity designs. It is shown that 1) the important material parameter for minimum Ic is the ration_{2}/alpha 2 ) the limit to Ic is set by limitations on finesse due to inhomogeneities rather than the absorption itself, and 3) the cavity design which gives lowest Ic for a given finesse is that for which the mirror transmissivity equals the absorption per pass; at high finesse this design leads to a total peak cavity transmission of 1/4 when mirror reflectivities are equal. 相似文献

We report on low-power optical bistability in a vertical cavity structure at 1.55-/spl mu/m wavelength due to the bandgap resonant dispersive optical nonlinearity of InGaAsP. In this structure, a GaAs-AlAs Bragg reflector grown on GaAs and the nonlinear medium grown on InP are bonded through wafer-fusion, leading to a high-quality vertical cavity after deposition of a top dielectric mirror. This device shows interesting characteristics for optical switching applications at fiber communication wavelengths, such as a switching contrast higher than 8:1 in the reflective mode and a bistability threshold power as low as 0.6 mW. True steady-state memory effect is observed with continuous-wave input, and the device switching time is in the ns range. 相似文献

从理论上分析了圆偏振光入射到手征负折射材料表面的反射与透射特性,给出了归一化反射透射功率与入射角的关系曲线以及布儒斯特角与手征参数之间的关系曲线.当入射角大于两个本征波的临界角时,全内反射现象发生.由于手征负折射介质中的一个本征波发生了负折射,右旋或左旋圆偏振光入射时反射波的极化态有着与常规介质完全不同的特性,以布儒斯特角入射时反射光都为线偏振波但极化方向并不相同. 相似文献
