Facilitating the discovery and reuse of modular building blocks is generally regarded as the key to achieving better scalability in genetic programming (GP). A precedent for this exists in biology, where complex designs are the product of developmental processes that can also be abstractly modeled as generative grammars. We introduce shared grammar evolution (SGE), which aligns grammatical development with the common application of grammars in GP as a means of establishing declarative bias. Programs are derived from and represented by a global context-free grammar that is transformed and extended according to another, user-defined grammar. Grammatical productions and the subroutines they encapsulate are shared between programs, which enables their reuse without reevaluation and can significantly reduce total evaluation time for large programs and populations. Several variants of SGE employing different strategies for controlling solution size and diversity are tested on classic GP problems. Results compare favorably against GP and newer techniques, with the best results obtained by promoting diversity between derived programs.  相似文献

Summary Specializing an existing graph grammar model we look in detail at node context-free graph grammars. With a slight generalization the parse trees for context-free Chomsky grammars can be used to describe derivations of these graph grammars.As shown already in former works the precedence graph grammars are defined as a subclass of context-free graph grammars by certain algebraic restrictions on the form of the rules. Then we can prove that every precedence grammar is unambiguous and additionally the reduction process in such a grammar read as replacement system is finite.The most important aim in defining the predence relations was a simple parsing method. This is realized because it is shown that the syntactic analysis for precedence graph grammars can be done in a time which linearly depends on the size of the input graph.The whole method has been implemented and a documentation is available.  相似文献

作为一种二维的形式化方法,图文法为可视化语言提供了直观而规范的描述手段.然而,大多数图文法形式框架在空间语义处理能力方面有所不足,影响了图文法的表达能力及其实际应用范围.针对现存的问题,构建了一种新型空间图文法形式框架vCGG (virtual-node based coordinate graph grammar).区别于其他空间图文法,vCGG在产生式中通过定义虚结点的概念描述产生式与主图之间的语法结构与空间语义关系,在保留抽象能力的同时,提高了其空间语义配置性能.通过与几种典型空间图文法框架比较,vCGG形式框架在直观性、规范性、表达能力以及分析效率方面均有着较好的表现.  相似文献

Graph grammars are a promising tool for solving picture processing problems. However, the application of graph grammars to diagram recognition has been limited to rather simple analysis of local symbol configurations. This paper introduces the Build-Weed-Incorporate programming style for graph grammars and shows its application in determining the meaning of complex diagrams, where the interaction among physically distant symbols is semantically important. Diagram recognition can be divided into two stages: symbol recognition and high-level recognition. Symbol recognition has been studied extensively in the literature. In this work we assume the existence of a symbol recognizer and use a graph grammar to assemble the diagram's information content from the symbols and their spatial relationships. The Build-Weed-Incorporate approach is demonstrated by a detailed discussion of a graph grammar for high-level recognition of music notation. A central feature that distinguishes graph grammars (we consider grammars generating sets of node-labelled undirected graphs only) from string grammars is that in the former one has to provide a mechanism by which a daughter graph (the right-hand side of a production) can be embedded in the rest of the mother graph, while in the latter this embedding is provided automatically by the structure that all strings possess (left-to-right orientation). In this paper we consider a possible classification of embedding mechanisms for (node-rewriting) graph grammars. This classification originates from the basic ideas of [9]. On the one hand it allows one to fit a number of existing notions of a graph grammar into a common framework and on the other hand it points out new “natural” possibilities for defining the embedding mechanism in a graph grammar. The relationship between the graph-language generating power of graph grammars using various embedding mechanisms is established.  相似文献

Programmed graph grammars are formally introduced and their generative power is investigated. Programmed graph grammars differ from other approaches to graph grammars in the so-called control diagram which controls the application order of productions. Restricting the form of the productions of a programmed graph grammar we get several classes of graph languages. These are compared mutually as well as with the hierarchy introduced by Nagl [18]. For unrestricted and monotone productions corresponding classes of graph languages coincide, while the class of context free programmed graph languages is properly contained in the class of context free graph languages in the sense of [18].  相似文献

Recently research has deeply investigated the problem of querying semi-structured data and data which can be represented by means of graphs (e.g. object-oriented data, XML data, etc.). Typically queries on graph-like data, called path queries, are expressed by means of regular expressions denoting paths in the graph. The result of a path query is the set of nodes reachable by means of a path expressed by a specified regular expression. In this paper we investigate the problem of extracting a subgraph satisfying a given property from a given graph representing some information. We propose a new form of queries, called graph queries, whose answers are (marked) graphs having a particular structure, extracted from the source graph. We show that a simple form of graph grammars can be profitably used to define graph queries. The result of a graph query, using a grammar G over a database D, is a marked subgraph of D ‘matching’ a graph derived from G. We consider different types of graph grammars which can be used to query graph-like data and consider their expressiveness and complexity.  相似文献

上下文相关图文法是描述可视化语言的形式化工具.为了直观地刻画并高效地分析可视化语言,已有图文法形式框架均着重于文法形式和分析算法的研究,而忽略了对它们之间表达能力的分析.在对已有上下文相关图文法形式框架的关键特征进行分析和归纳的基础上,通过构造不同形式框架之间的转换算法,揭示并形式化证明了它们表达能力之间的关系.而且,转换算法在不同形式框架之间建立了关联,使图文法的应用不必再局限于一个框架,而是可以选择不同框架分别进行图的描述和分析,从而提高了上下文相关图文法的易用性.  相似文献

Two grammatical characterizations of the bounded regular languages are presented: one in terms of graph grammars, the other using string grammars. First it is shown that a class of state graphs recognizing the bounded regular languages can be generated by a particular second-order contextfree graph grammar. Next we call uniquely recursive a right-linear (string) grammar having at most one right-recursive production for each of its nonterminals. It is then established that the class of languages generated by uniquely recursive, sequential right-linear grammars is exactly the bounded regular languages. Some comments on the relationship between string and graph grammars are made.  相似文献

形式语言理论对计算机科学的发展起了重大的作用,作为对传统字符文法扩展的图文法的形式化研究,其重要意义是不言而喻的.本文在概述图文法的产生、发展和现状的基础上,着重介绍了从一维字符文法扩展到二维图文法所出现的新问题,以及在形式化处理上引出的新方法,其中最主要的是嵌入问题的解决、文法类型的划分和成员问题的判定.文中以目前较为流行的图文法为例,特别是一些典型的上下文无关和上下文相关的图文法,对上述的问题进行了深入的讨论,指出了现有方法中的一些不足之处,并展望了图文法今后值得研究的问题和方向.  相似文献

This paper presents the combined use of meta-modelling and graph grammars for the generation of visual modelling tools for simulation formalisms. In meta-modelling, formalisms are described at a meta-level. This information is used by a meta-model processor to generate modelling tools for the described formalisms. We combine meta-modelling with graph grammars to extend the model manipulation capabilities of the generated modelling tools, as we store (meta-)models as graphs, and thus, express model manipulations as graph grammars.We show the design and implementation of these concepts in AToM3 (A Tool for Multi-formalism, Meta-Modelling). As an example we will present a meta-model for Causal Block Diagrams and a graph grammar to generate OOCSMP code, a continuous simulation language which has a compiler able to generate Java applets from the simulations models.  相似文献

A new interactive evolutionary 3D design system is presented. The representation is based on graph grammars, a fascinating and powerful formalism in which nodes and edges are iteratively rewritten by rules analogous to those of context-free grammars and shape grammars. The nodes of the resulting derived graph are labelled with Euclidean coordinates: therefore the graph fully represents a 3D beam design. Results from user-guided runs are presented, demonstrating the flexibility of the representation. Comparison with results using an alternative graph representation demonstrates that the graph grammar search space is more rich in organised designs. A set of numerical features are defined over designs. They are shown to be effective in distinguishing between the designs produced by the two representations, and between designs labelled by users as good or bad. The features allow the definition of a non-interactive fitness function in terms of proximity to target feature vectors. In non-interactive experiments with this fitness function, the graph grammar representation out-performs the alternative graph representation, and evolution out-performs random search.  相似文献

Process modeling grammars are used by analysts to describe information systems domains in terms of the business operations an organization is conducting. While prior research has examined the factors that lead to continued usage behavior, little knowledge has been established as to what extent characteristics of the users of process modeling grammars inform usage behavior. In this study, a theoretical model is advanced that incorporates determinants of continued usage behavior as well as key antecedent individual difference factors of the grammar users, such as modeling experience, modeling background and perceived grammar familiarity. Findings from a global survey of 529 grammar users support the hypothesized relationships of the model. The study offers three central contributions. First, it provides a validated theoretical model of post-adoptive modeling grammar usage intentions. Second, it discusses the effects of individual difference factors of grammar users in the context of modeling grammar usage. Third, it provides implications for research and practice.  相似文献

图文法是一种对可视化语言进行形式化定义的元语言,具有表达自然、能力强大的特点.随着使用可视化语言的最终用户编程技术的广泛应用,图文法分析尤其是上下文相关图文法分析在工程应用中的重要性日益突出.国内外相关文献或着重于纯理论探讨,或局限于特定语法类的特定应用,不利于工程应用人员参考.本文选取简洁明了的符号体系,介绍上下文相关图文法分析的一般性过程,并将其中规则选取关键步骤描述为CSP问题,利用已有的针对CSP问题的优化方法来优化算法,介绍了现有的优化方法并给出实现算法;同时,结合自身实践,讨论其在一个面向体系结构的Web服务集成系统中的应用.  相似文献

In this paper, we define a class of graph grammars that can be used to model and direct concurrent robotic self-assembly and similar self-organizing processes. We give several detailed examples of the formalism and then focus on the problem of synthesizing a grammar so that it generates a given, prespecified assembly. In particular, to generate an acyclic graph we synthesize a binary grammar (rules involve at most two parts), and for a general graph we synthesize a ternary grammar (rules involve at most three parts). In both cases, we characterize the number of concurrent steps required to achieve the assembly. We also show a general result that implies that no binary grammar can generate a unique stable assembly. We conclude the paper with a discussion of how graph grammars can be used to direct the self-assembly of robotic parts.  相似文献

We combine meta-modelling with graph grammars to extend the model manipulation capabilities of the generated modelling tools: edit, simulate, transform into another formalism, optimize and generate code. We store all (meta-)models as graphs, and thus, express model manipulations as graph grammars.We present the design and implementation of these concepts in AToM3 (A_To_ol for M_ulti-formalism, M_eta-M_odelling). AToM3 supports modelling of complex systems using different formalisms, all meta-modelled in their own right. Models in different formalisms may be transformed into a single common formalism for further processing. These transformations are specified by graph grammars. Mosterman and Vangheluwe [18] introduced the term multi-paradigm modelling to denote the combination of multiple formalisms, multiple abstraction levels, and meta-modelling. As an example of multi-paradigm modelling we present a meta-model for the Object-Oriented Continuous Simulation Language OOCSMP, in which we combine ideas from UML class diagrams (to express the OOCSMP model structure), Causal Block Diagrams (CBDs), and Statecharts (to specify the methods of the OOCSMP classes). A graph grammar is able to generate OOCSMP code, and then a compiler for this language (C-OOL) generates Java applets for the simulation execution.  相似文献

We propose an approach to the construction of grammars for existing languages. The main characteristic of the approach is that the grammars are not constructed from scratch but they are rather recovered by extracting them from language references, compilers and other artifacts. We provide a structured process to recover grammars including the adaptation of raw extracted grammars and the derivation of parsers. The process is applicable to possibly all existing languages for which business critical applications exist. We illustrate the approach with a non‐trivial case study. Using our process and some basic tools, we constructed in a few weeks a complete and correct VS COBOL II grammar specification for IBM mainframes. In addition, we constructed a parser for VS COBOL II, and were the first to publish a (Web‐enabled) grammar specification so that others can use this result to construct their own grammar‐based tools for VS COBOL II or derivatives.
