A ReScUE XML/EDI model

Since electronic data interchange (EDI) is one of the most important components in electronic commerce and since Extensible Markup Language (XML) provides Internet developers with a powerful vehicle for exchanging messages, XML/EDI has received much attention from almost all well‐known international enterprises and is believed to be the next generation EDI. However, since XML allows developers to design their own elements and attributes, it is almost certain businesses will receive XML documents with unknown elements. Generally, human intervention is required to solve the problem. Therefore, it is indispensable to design an efficient scheme to resolve the unknown elements. In this paper, we propose a ReScUE XML/EDI model such that transformation templates will be generated automatically for documents with unknown elements, and the documents will be converted into expected format. This model increases the flexibility of XML/EDI systems and reduces human intervention. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

XStorM: A Scalable Storage Mapping Scheme for XML Data

With the increasing ubiquity of XML, an eXtensible Markup Language, the industry is racing to provide XML infrastructure for e–commerce, information interchange, effective query of diverse sources and yet more integration of diverse data. It is anticipated that large volumes of XML data will be created manually from HTML documents or generated using some WWW tools and electronic data interchange (EDI). In this paper, we examine how large amounts of XML data can be stored in a relational database. Our scheme considers the unique irregular features of XML, including missing elements or multiple occurrences of the same element, and elements which may have atomic values in some data items and structured values in others. A detailed experimental study demonstrates good query performance, effective space utilization and scalability.     

面向电子商务的XML文档加密

随着可扩展标记语言(XML)在互联网中的广泛应用,XML的信息安全性越来越受到重视.基于电子商务的特点,通过对对称密码术(也称作密钥密码术)中的分组密码方式和算法的研究,认为对XML中的数据的加密方式可以采用分组密码中较为成熟的算法-数据加密标准(DES)来实现,并给出了电子商务中应用XML数字签名的实现过程.     

A reference system for internet based inter-enterprise electronic commerce

As supply chain management and its global outsourcing are widely spread recently, many researches and development focus on integration of inter-enterprise information systems. The most important factors to achieve inter-enterprise integration are standardization and digitalization. The objectives of this work are to develop the reference model for internet based inter-enterprise electronic commerce and to implement a prototype system for its fundamental issues such as business process, information standards, and information system integration. The electronics assembly processes are chosen as the target industry. For the reference architecture of inter-enterprise electronic commerce, we also investigate intra-enterprise business processes and model them with IDEF0. The standard documents and its items are defined from analysis of traditional documents for outsourcing processes and EDI documents. For standard exchange method, web-based XML is adopted, and corresponding DTD and XSL for RFQ and Quotation are developed. In order to prove feasibility and effectiveness of the reference system a prototype system is introduced and implemented.
