A three‐element quasi Yagi‐Uda antenna array with printed metamaterial surface generated from the array of uniplanar capacitively loaded loop (CLL) unit‐cells printed on the substrate operating in the band 25‐30 GHz is proposed. The metamaterial surface is configured to provide a high‐refractive index to tilt the electromagnetic (EM) beam from the two dipole antennas placed opposite to each other. The metamaterial region focuses the rays from the dipole antenna and hence increases the gain of the individual antennas by about 5 dBi. The antenna elements are printed on a 10 mil substrate with a center to center separation of about 0.5 λ 0 at 28 GHz. The three‐element antenna covers 25‐30 GHz band with measured return loss of 10 dB and isolation greater than 15 dB between all the three ports. The measured gain of about 11 dBi is achieved for all the antenna elements. The three antenna elements radiate in three different directions and cover a radiation scan angle of 64°.  相似文献

This article proposes a dual‐polarized antenna with enhanced characteristics using metal director for base transceiver station applications. The proposed antenna consists of a main radiation element, ±45? dual‐polarized feed structure, a reflector and a metal director. The metal director improves the impedance matching and increases the gain and front to back ratio. A prototype of the antenna is fabricated and the measured results show the wide frequency bandwidths of 63% for port 1 with frequency range 1.6 to 3.1 GHz and 60% for port 2 with frequency range 1.6 to 3 GHz. The obtained experimental isolation between ports is greater than 28 dB. The measured results also represent a gain of >8.4 dBi and the stable radiation patterns with half‐power beam width wider than of 65°. According to mentioned experimental results, the presented antenna can be used in the microcell base stations for Global System for Mobile, Code Division Multiple Access, and Long‐Term Evolution services.  相似文献

A dual‐band antenna array is proposed for the application of base station (BS) in 2G/3G/long term evaluation (LTE) mobile communications. This antenna consists of two independent ±45° dual‐polarized arrays, one of which operates from 1.71 to 2.17 GHz, and the other of which is designed from 2.5 to 2.69 GHz. The proposed BS antenna array has a high isolation of greater than 29 dB and high front‐to‐back ratio of more than 26 dB at the operating frequencies. The measured peak gain is 17.9 and 18.1 dBi for the lower and upper bands, respectively, and the cross polarizations isolation (CPI)(within ±60º of the mainlobe) is 16 dB lower than the broadside co‐polarization. It was confirmed that the proposed antenna array meets the communication standards in China. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 26:154–163, 2016.  相似文献

In this endeavor, a new multiple‐input‐multiple‐output antenna with a sharp rejection at wireless local area network (WLAN) band is designed and practically examined for portable wireless ultra‐wideband applications. The intended diversity antenna possess a small size of 15 mm × 26 mm and two inverted L‐strip are loaded over the conventional rectangular patch antenna to form protrudent‐shaped radiator that acts as a radiating element. The sharp band‐rejection capability at WLAN is established by incising the L‐shaped slits at the decoupling structure. More than ?21 dB isolation is accomplished for the complete working band (ie, 2.87 ‐17 GHz). Degradation in the antenna efficiency at the center frequency of band rejection corroborates the good interference rejection capability. The working capabilities of the intended antenna are tested by using the isolation between the ports, total efficiency, gain, envelope correlation coefficient, radiation pattern, mean effective gain, and total active reflection coefficient.  相似文献

In this paper, a dual‐polarized cross‐dipole antenna with wide beam and high isolation is designed and analyzed for base station. The proposed antenna consists of two planar cross dipoles with four square patches, two L‐shaped microstrip lines, two ground plates, four parasitic patches, and a reflector. The square patches are placed between the center of cross dipoles to couple with L‐shaped microstrip lines. By introducing the parasitic patches, the wide beam can be realized. The measured results show that the proposed antenna achieves an impedance bandwidth (|S11| < ?10 dB) of about 18.7% (1.9‐2.35 GHz) and an isolation better than 30 dB. A measured gain of 5.7 dBi and a half‐power beamwidth over 120° at the center frequency are obtained. Furthermore, the size of the proposed antenna is only 0.5λ0 × 0.5λ0 × 0.22λ0 (λ0 is wavelength at the center frequency).  相似文献

This paper proposes a compact dual‐band printed quadrifilar helix antenna (QHA) operating at GPS‐L1 (1575 ± 2 MHz) and L2 (1228 ± 2 MHz) bands. To generate the dual operating bands, two interconnected lines with unequal lengths are introduced as a radiating element. The closely allocated radiators resonate in quarter‐wavelength mode, which significantly miniaturizes antenna's size. Four shunt capacitors are loaded near ports to manipulate the mutual coupling between each two radiators, so that satisfactory matching condition with minimum active reflection at two target bands can be obtained simultaneously. Then, a compact feeding network consisting of on‐chip hybrid couplers is designed and connected to the QHA. Measured results show that the compact proposed antenna achieves peak gains of 1.5 dBic and 2.6 dBic at 1575 MHz and 1228 MHz, respectively. The axial ratios (ARs) at L1 and L2 bands are both below 2.5 dB, and the half‐power‐beamwidths (HPBWs) are as wide as 130° and 116°, respectively. As compared with reported works, the proposed antenna can achieve much more compact size (0.11 × 0.21 λ02) and dual‐band radiation at the same time.  相似文献

Broadband dual-polarized base station antenna requires wide impedance matching bandwidth, high-polarization isolation, stable radiation patterns, small gain variations, and high-cross polarization discrimination level. For antenna designers, it usually takes much computational time to design broadband base station antenna because there are extensive structural parameter analysis and multiple performance characteristics to be synthesized one by one. In this paper, a novel population-based computational intelligence optimization method is proposed for broadband base station antenna design. The proposed optimization method is based on self-adaptive weight vector strategy and could speedup searching through adjusting weight vectors and decreasing the number of full-time objective function evaluations. To verify its high efficiency of the proposed optimization method, a compact broadband dual-polarized base station antenna operating at 3.3–5.0 GHz is designed. From measurement results, it is observed that polarization isolation is higher than 27 dB, gain variation is smaller than 0.4 dB, and half-power beamwidth (HPBW) is within 65° ± 3°. In addition, XPD level is better than 24 dB at boresight direction and better than 13 dB within a sector of ±60°. Therefore, the designed antenna is promising for 5G broadband cellular base station applications.  相似文献

A high‐isolation dual‐polarized quad‐patch antenna fed by stacked substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) that is suitable for millimeter‐wave band is proposed in this paper. The antenna consists of a quad‐patch radiator, a two‐layer SIW feeding structure and two feeding ports for horizontal and vertical polarization. The two‐layer stacked SIW feeding structure achieves the high isolation between the two feeding ports (|S21| ≤ ?45 dB). Based on the proposed element, a 1 × 4 antenna array with a simple series‐fed network is also designed and investigated. A prototype working at the frequency band from 38 to 40 GHz is fabricated and tested. The results indicate that the proposed antenna has good radiation performance at 38 GHz that covers future 5G applications.  相似文献

A four‐port multiple input multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna with common radiating element is proposed for 2.4 GHz Wi‐Fi applications. It comprises a modified circular radiator fed by four identical modified feedlines, partial ground planes, and a diagonal parasitic element (DPE). The parasitic element is used to enhance the interport isolation. The antenna has a 2:1 Voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) impedance band 2.34‐2.56 GHz and nearly omnidirectional radiation patterns. The radiation efficiency is more than 79% and gain is 2 dBi at resonant 2.43 GHz. The isolation in the given frequency band is 10 dB. At the 2.43 GHz, the isolation between adjacent ports (1, 2 and 1, 4) is 14 dB and between opposite ports (1, 3) is 12 dB. The mean effective gain (MEG) ≤ ?2.7 dB and envelope correlation coefficient is <0.01. The ?10 dB total active reflection coefficient bandwidth is 202 MHz. The antenna is designed for a Wi‐Fi device and the effectiveness of antenna has been checked for distance of ½ feet from the human head. The specific absorption rate (SAR) is found to be ≤0.17 W/Kg by CST simulation tool.  相似文献

This article presents a dual polarized, proximity‐fed monostatic patch antenna (single radiator for both transmit and receive modes) with improved interport isolation for 2.4 GHz in‐band full duplex (IBFD) applications. The proximity‐fed radiating patch offers comparatively wider impedance bandwidth for presented design. Very nice self‐interference cancelation (SIC) levels for intended impedance bandwidth have been achieved through differential receive (Rx) mode configuration. The differential Rx mode based on 180° ring hybrid coupler acts as a signal inversion mechanism for effective suppression or cancelation of in‐band self‐interference (SI) that is, the leakage from transmit port. The implemented prototype of proposed antenna achieves ≥87 dB peak isolation for dual polarized IBFD operation. Moreover, the recorded interport isolation for validation model ≥60 dB within 10 dB‐return loss bandwidth of 90 MHz (2.36‐2.45 GHz). The measured radiation characteristics of implemented antenna demonstrate nice gain and low cross‐polarization levels for both transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) modes. The dimensions of implemented antenna are 70 × 75 × 4.8 mm3. The novelty of this work is wide‐band SIC performance for monostatic antenna configuration with compact structure of presented design.  相似文献

A method to significantly increase the gain and reduce the mutual coupling of microstrip multiple‐intput multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna based on metamaterial concept is presented. The μ‐negative and ε‐negative features of the proposed modified peace‐logo planar metamaterial (MPLPM) and two‐sided MPLPM (TSMPLPM) structures are calculated. The antenna structure consists of eight MPLPM slabs and two TSMPLPM, which are embedded in azimuth plane of a MIMO antenna vertically. The dimensions of MIMO antenna are 28 × 16 × 6.3 mm3 at 40 GHz. As a result, a compact MIMO antenna is simulated in comparison with primary microstrip structures. The corresponding return‐loss of the antenna is better than 10 dB over 34.5 to 45.5 GHz for Ka‐band applications. Good consent between the measured and simulated result is tacked. The maximum simulated gain of the structure is 15.5 dB at 40 GHz, creating a maximum gain improvement of 11.5 dB in comparison with a MIMO antenna without any metamaterial combinations. The value of the insertion‐loss (isolation) is 33 dB, which has improved by more than 25 dB compared to the conventional sample.  相似文献

A new millimeter‐wave antenna structure on a low‐cost, production platform integrated passive device technology is presented. The antenna consists of a 2‐by‐1 array of slot antennas at 60 GHz. An in‐house developed on‐chip antenna measurement setup was used to characterize the fabricated antenna. The measurement results show an antenna gain of more than 5 dBi with a return loss of 18 dB at 60 GHz. The better‐than‐10‐dB impedance bandwidth of the antenna covers the 60‐GHz unlicensed band from 57 to 64 GHz. The 3‐dB beamwidths of the antenna are 105° and 76° at E‐plane and H‐plane at 60 GHz, respectively. The size of the die of the antenna is 2 mm × 4.5 mm. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A multi‐band directional multiple‐input–multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna system is presented based on a rectangular loop excited Quasi‐Yagi configuration. A 64% reduction in size is obtained using a rectangular meandered element as well as a small ground plane. The proposed two‐element MIMO antenna system covers the Telemetry L‐band and several LTE/WLAN bands. It has a wide measured bandwidth of 689 MHz (1.897–2.586 GHz) in the desired band centered at 2 GHz, and a measured bandwidth of more than 168 MHz across rest of the bands. The MIMO antenna system has a total size of 45 × 120 × 0.76 mm3, with a single element size of 55 × 60 × 0.76 mm3. The non‐desired back‐lobe radiation which is obtained using a small ground plane, is significantly reduced by using a novel defected ground structure (DGS) as compared with the complex techniques present in literature. The proposed DGS provides a high measured front‐to‐back ratio of 14 dB at 2 GHz and 11 dB in other bands. A maximum measured realized gain of 5.8 dBi is obtained in the desired band using a single parasitic director element. The proposed MIMO antenna system has a minimum measured radiation efficiency of 70%, isolation of 12 dB, and envelope correlation coefficient of 0.098 within all bands which ensures very good MIMO performance.  相似文献

A wideband dual‐polarized microstrip antenna is presented. By designing the coplanar parasitic patches and modified feed probes, antenna profile is decreased significantly. Shorted pins are used and 34 dB isolation between input ports is then achieved. A phase difference feed network is introduced to suppress higher‐order modes and reduce the cross polarization to ?27 dB. To verify the design, a prototype of the antenna is fabricated and experimentally studied. Measured results show that 30.3% operating bandwidth (VSWR < 1.5) and good dual linear polarization characteristics with a profile height as low as 0.08λ are achieved. Due to the very compact configuration, the proposed antenna is suitable for micro‐base‐station applications.  相似文献

In this article, an offset fed printed dipole antenna 2‐element, 4‐element, and 8‐element arrays are developed and analyzed for millimeter wave applications. The 8‐element array antenna is of compact size with dimensions 43.6 × 25.1 × 0.25 mm3. It achieved a broad impedance bandwidth (S11 < ?10 dB) of 15.7 GHz from 24.7 to 40.4 GHz. The mutual coupling between array elements is less than ?35 dB in the operating band. The antenna achieved a gain of 12.62 to 13.1 dB. The 8‐element array antenna is fabricated on liquid crystal polymer material and tested. Impedance matching, far field radiation characteristics, co‐polarized and cross‐polarized patterns and group delay are analyzed in simulation and experimental measurement. The investigated results are in good agreement and hence, the developed array antenna is attractive for wideband millimeter wave applications.  相似文献

A quad‐port planar multiple‐input‐multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna possessing super‐wideband (SWB) operational features and triple‐band rejection characteristics is designed. The proposed MIMO configuration consists of four modified‐elliptical‐self‐complementary‐antenna (MESCA) elements, which are excited by tapered co‐planar waveguide (TCPW) feed lines. A radiator‐matched complementary slot is present in the ground conductor patch of each MESCA element. The proposed MIMO antenna exhibits a bandwidth ratio of 36:1 (|S11| < ?10 dB; 0.97‐35 GHz). Further, a step‐like slit‐resonator is etched in the radiator to eliminate interferences at 3.5 GHz. A hexagonal shaped complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) is also loaded on the MESCA radiator to remove interferences at 5.5 and 8.5 GHz. The MIMO antenna is fabricated on FR‐4 substrate of size 63 × 63 mm2 and experimental results are found in good agreement with the simulated results. The MIMO antenna exhibits inter‐element isolation >17 dB and envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) <0.01 at all the four ports.  相似文献

A compact four‐element multiple‐input‐multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna for ultra‐wideband (UWB) applications with WLAN band‐notched characteristics is proposed here. The proposed antenna has been designed to operate from 2 to 12 GHz while reject the frequencies between 4.9 to 6.4 GHz. The four antenna elements are placed orthogonal to attain the polarization diversity and high isolation. A thin stub connected to the ground plane is deployed as a LC notch filter to accomplish the rejected WLAN band in each antenna element. The mutual coupling between the adjacent elements is at least 17 dB while it has low indoor and outdoor envelop correlation (<0.45) and high gain with compact size of two boards, each measuring 50 × 25 mm2. To validate the concept, the prototype antenna is manufactured and measured. The comparison of the simulation results showed good agreement with the measured results. The low‐profile design and compact size of the proposed MIMO antenna make it a good candidate for diversity applications desired in portable devices operating in the UWB region.  相似文献

In this article, a metamaterial‐based broadband low‐profile antenna is presented. The proposed antenna employed an array of uniplanar quasi‐composite right/left‐hand (CRLH) metamaterial cells. This structure contributes to exciting the operating modes in lower frequencies. The antenna has an overall electrical size of 0.75 × 0.60 × 0.07 λ030 is the center operating wavelength in free space) and provides a 25% measured bandwidth with the center frequency of 5.1 GHz and maximum gain of 6.6 dB. The proposed antenna is an appropriate candidate for WLAN, WiMAX, and other wireless communication applications.  相似文献

A compact tri‐band multiple‐input‐multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna based on a quarter‐mode slotted substrate‐integrated‐waveguide (SIW) cavity is proposed. By etching a wide slot, a single SIW cavity is divided into two sub‐cavities with the same size. They are fed by coaxial ports to form two MIMO elements and high antenna isolation can be achieved by this slot. To obtain multi‐band operations, two narrow slots are cut in the upper sub‐cavity and the other two slots are etched in the lower sub‐cavity. Three eighth‐mode resonances with different areas can simultaneously occur in these antenna elements. A prototype with the overall size of 0.34λ0 × 0.34λ0 has been fabricated. The measured center frequencies of three operating bands are 2.31, 2.91, and 3.35 GHz, respectively. The measured gain at above frequencies is 4.52, 4.29, and 4.57 dBi, respectively. Moreover, the measured isolation is higher than 16.7 dB within the frequency of interest.  相似文献

This article presented a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity‐backed self‐diplexing antenna array with frequency beam scanning characteristic. The proposed array consists of 16 SIW cavity‐backed slot antennas. The SIW cavity‐backed slot antenna can be fed by two separate ports to resonate at two different frequencies and achieve high isolation better than 20 dB between two input ports. The proposed element is a typical self‐diplexing antenna. These cavity‐backed slot antennas are shunt‐fed by a compact 1 to 16 SIW power divider and series‐fed by a set of microstrip lines, respectively. As a result, this array achieves an unidirectional radiation pattern at 10.2 GHz with high gain of 15.10 dBi, and a frequency beam scanning characteristic from 7.0 to 9.0 GHz ranging from ?50° to 46°.  相似文献
