Essential oils of Myrtus communis L. leaves were obtained using supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and hydrodistillation methods. The experimental parameters of SFE such as pressure, temperature, modifier volume, static and dynamic extraction time were optimised using a central composite design after a 2n−1 fractional factorial design. The chemical compositions of the SFE extract were identified by GC–MS and determined by GC–FID. The major components of essential oils obtained by hydrodistillation were α-pinene (31.8%), 1,8-cineole (24.6%), limonene (14.8%), linalool (8.3%) and α-terpinolene (4.8%). However, by using the supercritical carbon dioxide in optimum conditions, only three components represented more than 85% of the extract. Therefore, by using the proper SFE conditions, the supercritical extraction is more selective than the conventional hydrodistillation methods. The oil yields based on the hydrodistillation was 0.47% (v/w). Extraction yields based on the SFE varied in the range of 0.5–6.3% (w/w) under different conditions.  相似文献

Essential oil of Carum copticum cultivated in Iran was obtained by hydrodistillation and supercritical (CO2) extraction (SFE) methods. The oils were analysed by capillary gas chromatography, using flame ionization and mass spectrometric detection. The compounds were identified according to their retention indices and mass spectra (EI, 70 eV). The effects of different parameters, such as pressure, temperature, modifier volume and extraction time, on the supercritical fluid extraction of C. copticum oil were investigated. The results showed that, under pressure of 30.4 MPa, temperature 35 °C, methanol 0% and dynamic extraction time of 30 min, the method was most selective for the extraction of thymol. Eight compounds were identified in the hydrodistilled oil. The major components of C. copticum were thymol (49.0%), γ-terpinene (30.8%), p-cymene (15.7), β-pinene (2.1%), myrcene (0.8%) and limonene (0.7%). However, by using supercritical carbon dioxide under optimum conditions, only three components constituted more than 99% of the oil. The extraction yield, based on hydrodistillation was 2.8% (v/w). Extraction yield based on the SFE varied in the range of 1.0–5.8% (w/w) under different conditions. The results show that, in Iranian C. copticum oil, thymol is a major component.  相似文献

Essential oil of Salvia mirzayanii cultivated in Iran was obtained by hydrodistillation and supercritical (carbon dioxide) extraction methods. The oil was analysed by capillary gas chromatography using flame ionization and mass spectrometric detections. The compounds were identified according to their retention indices and mass spectra (EI, 70 eV). The effects of different parameters such as pressure, temperature, modifier volume and extraction times (dynamic and static) on the supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) of S. mirzayanii oil were investigated. The results showed that, under a pressure of 35.5 MPa, temperature of 35 °C, 6% methanol, dynamic extraction time of 50 min and static extraction time of 30 min, extraction was more selective for the linalyl acetate. Thirty four compounds were identified in the hydrodistilled oil. The major components of S. mirzayanii were linalyl acetate (7.6%), 1,8-cineole (8.0%), linalool (9.0%) and 8-acetoxy linalool (11.0%). However, by using supercritical carbon dioxide in optimum conditions, only three components contain more than 63% of the oil. The yield of the obtained oil based on hydrodistillation was 2.20% (v/w). Extraction yield based on the SFE varied in the range of 1.50–9.67% (w/w) under different conditions. The results revealed that, in Iranian S. mirzayanii oil, linalyl acetate is a major component.  相似文献

Volatile components of marjoram (Origanum majorana L.) essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation and extracts obtained by solvent extraction with ethyl alcohol and supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) were investigated. The compositions of volatile compounds in essential oil, ethanolic and SFE extracts were determined by GC and GC–MS. The antimicrobial properties of marjoram solvent extracts were investigated with microbiological tests against food borne fungi and bacteria strains. Extracts obtained by SFE at high pressure and temperature showed significantly stronger antimicrobial properties in comparison to the slight inhibitory effects of the ethanolic extract. The results support the notion that extracts obtained by SFE might have a role as flavourings and natural colourants as well as use as preservatives in food and cosmetic systems.  相似文献

Sixty compounds of Lavandula angustifolia L. cultivated in Friuli Venezia Giulia (North-East Italy) were identified and quantified by GC-MS and GC-FID from essential oils obtained by means of hydrodistillation, and from extracts obtained by supercritical CO2 extraction (SFE) and ultrasound-assisted extraction (US). Using absolute calibration, a true quantification of 1-8 cineol, camphor, linalool, linalyl acetate and β-caryophyllene was carried out. The best extracts, in terms of amount of isolated compounds, flavour quality and stability were those obtained with SFE. Sonication performed at low amplitude for 5 min offered respect to high amplitude a promising alternative to hydrodistillation as a source of lavender flavouring ready to use for alcoholic beverages or/and confectionery products.  相似文献

We compared by a chemometric approach the composition of essential (EO) and fixed (FO) oils previously obtained from several vegetable matrices by supercritical CO2 extraction (CO2-SFE) and conventional techniques (n-hexane in a Soxhlet apparatus and hydrodistillation). A multivariate approach, by determining the principal components analysis (PCA) applied to data of FO fatty acids and EO volatile compounds, generally indicated that the vegetable oils extracted with CO2-SFE tightly clustered with those obtained by conventional methods. The graphical distances calculated in the PCA plots between the score of each SFE oil and the corresponding conventional oil revealed that the CO2-SFE FO and EO profiles were quite similar to conventional oils, with the additional benefit of not having unwanted traces of solvent. SFE FO were more similar to conventional oils than SFE EO (mean values of calculated graphical distances were 0.83 and 1.46 for FO and EO, respectively). Our results strongly corroborate the role of CO2-SFE as a suitable, environmentally safe and efficient method alternative to the traditional ones for the extraction of natural vegetable oils for food and pharmaceutical applications.  相似文献

In this work, the global yields, composition and antioxidant activity (AA) of extracts from lemon verbena (Aloysia triphylla) and mango (Mangifera indica) leaves obtained by different separation processes were determined. Lemon verbena extracts were obtained by supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), while mango leaf extracts were obtained by SFE, low‐pressure solvent extraction (LPSE) and hydrodistillation. The extract's constituents were analyzed by thin‐layer chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and gas chromatography/flame ionization detector. The AA of the extracts was evaluated by the coupled reaction of β‐carotene/linolenic acid. The cost of manufacturing (COM) was estimated for the SFE extracts. Higher global yields were obtained using SFE at 350 bar/45C (1.49%) for lemon verbena and LPSE (3.04%) for mango. The AAs of the extracts were larger than that of the β‐carotene for both plants. The minimum values of COM were U.S.$26.96 and 52.45/kg of extract for lemon verbena and mango, respectively.  相似文献

Oils from apple seeds were extracted with the application of supercritical fluid (SFE) and Soxhlet techniques. The effect of SFE experimental variables such as pressure (10–30 MPa), temperature (40–60 °C) and carbon dioxide flow rate (1–8 L/h) on the yield, antioxidant activity and total phenolic content was investigated using a central composite design. The experimental data were fitted with a second-order polynomial equation using regression analysis. The maximum yield, obtained at the optimum processing conditions (24 MPa, 40 °C, 1 L/h of carbon dioxide flow rate, 140 min) was 20.5 ± 1.5% (w/w). For comparison, the yield from Soxhlet extraction was 22.5 ± 2.5% (w/w). Both techniques produced an oil with a fatty acids profile rich in linoleic acid. However, the extract from SFE was higher in linoleic acid (63.76 ± 4.96 g/100 goil) than that achieved by Soxhlet (49.03 ± 3.85 g/100 goil). Despite the higher unsaturated fatty acids content, SFE extracts reported a higher oxidative stability (21.4 ± 1.2 h) compared to that one extracted by Soxhlet (12.1 ± 1.1 h). This result was expport addressing the extraction of apple seed oil by supercritical fluid at pressures lower tha The most abundant phenolic compound found in the extract was phloridzin (2.96 ± 0.046 μg/gseed in SFE oil and 1.56 ± 0.026 μg/gseed in Soxhlet). Instead, amygdalin, one of the antinutrients present in seeds, was not detected in the SFE oil.Industrial relevanceThe present study provided results addressing the extraction of apple seed oil by supercritical fluid at pressures lower than 30 MPa. The process allowed extracting an oil that was rich in unsaturated fatty acids, oxidative stable thanks to the high antioxidant activity, and free from anti-nutritional compounds.  相似文献

The main products obtained from citrus wastes are pectin and essential oil. In this work, ohmic heating assisted extraction/hydrodistillation (OHAE/H) was applied for the simultaneous recovery of pectin and essential oil from lemon waste. Optimum OHAE/H conditions to maximize the yield of pectin and essential oil were determined with response surface methodology. Three independent variables, namely liquid to solid ratio (w:v), extraction/hydrodistillation time (min) and voltage gradient (V/cm) were varied to obtain maximum pectin and essential oil yield. Optimum OHAE/H conditions were determined as 8.7:1 liquid to solid ratio, 58.4 min extraction/hydrodistillation time and 14.2 V/cm voltage gradient. The predicted pectin and essential oil yields at optimum conditions were 16.58 and 3.62 g/100 g lemon waste, respectively. Data analysis showed that all of the independent variables significantly affected the pectin and essential oil yield. In the verification study, close agreement was found between predicted and experimental values. Conventional heating extraction/hydrodistillation (CHE/H) were conducted to evaluate the effectivity of OHAE/H. With OHAE/H process, the yields of the pectin and essential oil were significantly increased when compared to CHE/H. Limonene concentration of the essential oil produced with OHAE/H was higher than the essential oil produced by CHE/H. Results demonstrate that the single-step OHAE/H could be an effective method for simultaneous extraction and hydrodistillation of pectin and essential oils.  相似文献

Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) of essential oil from clove buds with CO2 was explored. The effect of different parameters, such as temperature (30 °C, 40 °C, 50 °C), pressure(10 MPa, 20 MPa, 30 MPa) and particle size (three degree index), on the extraction yield and the content of eugenol in extracts was investigated using three-level orthogonal array design. The experimental results show that the temperature has the largest effect on the eugenol content of the extracts, and particle size has the maximum effect on the oil yield. The essential oil of 19.56% yield, in which the maximum content of eugenol in extracts is 58.77%, can be extracted from clove buds at pressure of 10 MPa and temperature of 50 °C. Essential oil of clove buds obtained by SFE, hydrodistillation, steam distillation and Soxhlet extraction were further analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometric detection to compare the extraction methods. Twenty three compounds in the clove oils have been identified, showing that the composition of the clove oil extracted by different methods is mostly similar, whereas relative concentration of the identified compounds is apparently different. General characteristics of the clove oils obtained by different methods were further compared, and SFE is considered as the optimum process among the four processes for obtaining clove oil with high quality.  相似文献

Olive oil mill waste was subjected to conventional liquid solvent extraction and supercritical fluid extraction using different solvents and carbon dioxide, respectively. The optimum solvent extraction conditions of phenols were 180 min using ethanol, at a solvent to sample ratio 5:1 v/w, and at pH 2. Solvent and SFE extracts were tested for their antioxidant activity by the DPPH radical scavenging method and by determination of peroxide value on virgin olive oil and sunflower oil. The ethanol extract exhibited the highest antiradical activity, and no correlation was found between antiradical activity and phenol content. The SFE extract exerted good antioxidant capacity although its phenolic yield was not quite high. Moreover, the ethanol extract appeared to be a stronger antioxidant than BHT, ascorbyl palmitate and vitamin E by the Rancimat method on sunflower oil. HPLC analysis of the extracts showed that the predominant phenolic compound was hydroxytyrosol. Various phenolic acids and flavonoids were also identified.  相似文献

Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) of tea seed oil was performed to study the effects of various parameters such as pressure, temperature, extraction time (dynamic) and modifier (ethanol) on the yield and composition of the oil. The results were also compared with those obtained by Soxhlet extraction, ultrasonic extraction, and DGF (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Fettwissenschaft) standard method B-I5 (87) in lab conditions. The yield of tea seed oil obtained using SFE was similar to or higher than the other methods. The results from SFE showed that the modifier and pressure have significant effects on the extraction efficiency. The oil extracted by SFE in the absence of modifier was clearer than the oils obtained in other conditions. The fatty acid composition of each extract was determined by gas chromatography. Palmitic (C16:0), stearic (C18:0), oleic (C18:1), linoleic (C18:2) and gadoleic (C20:1) fatty acids were observed in the oil samples. Since it contains high-unsaturated fatty acids (UFA) and low saturated fatty acids (SFA), edible tea seed oil is also relatively healthy.  相似文献

SFE of the oils of two varieties of grape seeds (Victoria and Red Globe) was performed in a flow apparatus at 40C and 250 bar. The effect of the solvent on the extraction yield was studied using CO2 and CO2 modified with ethanol, and the yield of extraction was compared with conventional extraction methods (Bligh and Dyer and Soxhlet using hexane). SC CO2  +  ethanol extracted higher lipid amounts from both varieties, compared with SC CO2 extraction. The comparison between SFE and conventional extraction methods showed that the highest extraction yield was obtained with SC CO2  +  ethanol (10%, w/w) (14.7 and 11.8% for Red Globe and Victoria grape seeds, respectively), while pure SC CO2 afforded the lowest lipid yields. The fatty acid compositions of the oils obtained by SFE were analyzed. Fractions containing higher proportions of PUFAs were obtained at lower solvent/dry grape seed ratios, while fractions richer in SFAs and MUFAs were obtained at higher solvent/dry grape seed ratios.

PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS

SFE could fractionate grape seed oil and afford various grades of oil containing different proportions of fatty acids. The highest grape seed lipid yield obtained was with SC CO2 + ethanol, making this solvent a promising and powerful one for grape seed oil extraction, showing a great advantage compared with conventional extraction methods.  相似文献

ABSTRACT:  The antioxidant activities of the volatile and the nonvolatile fractions from  Satureja montana  obtained by supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and by conventional techniques, hydrodistillation (HD) and soxhlet extraction (SE), were compared. A good agreement between DPPH and rancimat methods was obtained showing that the extracts were able to scavenge free radicals and to inhibit lipid oxidation. The volatile oil (obtained by SFE at 90 bar/40 °C) was the most effective extract, presenting the lowest EC50 (0.06 g/L) and the highest protector factor (PF = 2.03). These results demonstrated the advantages of SFE over conventional techniques by avoiding thermodegradation and hydrolysis reactions. Furthermore, volatile oil is 15 times richer in thymoquinone than the essential oil (HD). This compound is of great importance due to its antioxidant, neuroprotective, and anti-cancer activities. The combination of carvacrol + thymol + thymoquinone in volatile oil may be responsible for the increase in the antioxidant activity when compared to HD, which demonstrates that, in this case, SFE improves value to the final product.  相似文献

The effects of three different extraction methods, namely hydrodistillation, supercritical CO2 extraction (SCE) and hexane extraction on the yield, chemical composition and antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of lavender essential oil were investigated in this study. SCE produced a yield of 6.7 % (dry weight), which was comparable to that of solvent extraction (7.6 %), but significantly higher than that of hydrodistillation (4.6 %). The chemical composition of the oils showed considerable variations among the extraction methods, with linalool, linalyl acetate, camphor and borneol making up approximately 80 % of identified components in all extracts. Hexane extraction produced oils with the presence of waxes, colour pigments and albuminious materials with semi-solid consistency, while hydrodistillation extracts showed signs of thermal degradation. The SCE extracts had an aroma with the closest resemblance to the starting material, showing negligible thermal degradation, and exhibited significantly higher antioxidant activity than the hydrodistillation and hexane extracts. Oils produced by SCE and hydrodistillation had antimicrobial activities higher than hexane extracts. The results of this study demonstrate that SCE is a promising process for the extraction of lavender essential oil.  相似文献
