Intended learning outcomes (ILOs) indicate what learners will be able to achieve after they are taught. Traditionally, ILOs are expressed as plain text or unstructured documents. What if all ILOs of a specific course of study can be conceptualized through a structured diagrammatic technique? It was hypothesized that learners can benefit from this conceptualization in learning, especially in self‐regulated learning. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the ILOs represented in unstructured or structured formats can facilitate learners to identify learning paths. The results revealed that the mean ratings of all learning paths were statistically significantly higher with structured ILOs. 相似文献

The influence of Arnheim's work on the author's research began with an experiment on the perception of visual balance. Two later research projects emerged from the profound influence of Arnheim's stance toward creation in the visual arts as a serious, cognitive endeavor. A series of meta-analyses were first conducted to test the claim that learning in the arts transfers to nonarts cognitive domains, but little evidence was found. Past research on the transfer hypothesis was found to be lacking because of its failure to assess learning in the parent domain. Therefore, a new research project was carried out to identify kinds of learning in the parent domain of visual arts. We identified eight thinking dispositions developed in serious visual arts classes, setting the stage for more plausible transfer studies. This study demonstrates that the visual arts inculcate basic skills in perception and cognition that exist both in the arts and sciences. Not all Group Support Systems are identical, as is demonstrated by their software implementations. We discuss two existing implementations of group support tools and the process models underlying them. We demonstrate that fundamental to both processes is the merging or integration of individual data. Based on this and other empirical research, the Shared Context Model (SCM) of cooperative work is adopted and we show that it supports existing processes and others. We expect that groups will find merging their work easier with the SCM. This model is presented and embedded in the architecture and implementation of four group tools. Because these tools are destined to be used by dispersed groups, synchronously or asynchronously, an object-based communication and control mechanism is incorporated. Finally, as graphics and multi-tasking have been shown to be increasingly important, the tools are implemented in Microsoft Windows for personal computers attached to local area networks. 相似文献

Chemometrics has enjoyed tremendous success in the areas related to calibration of spectrometers and spectroscopy-based measurements. These chemometric-based spectrometers have been widely applied for process monitoring and quality assurance. However, chemometrics has the potential to revolutionize the very intellectual roots of problem solving. Are there barriers to a more rapid proliferation of chemometric-based thinking, particularly in industry? What are the potential effects of chemometrics technology and the New Network Economy (NNE) working in concert? Who will be the winners in the race for faster, better, cheaper systems and products? These questions are reviewed in terms of the principles of the NNE and in the promise of chemometrics for industry. What then is the state of multivariate thinking in industry? Several powerful principles are derived from an evaluation of the NNE and chemometrics which could allow chemometrics to proliferate much more rapidly as a key general problem-solving tool. 相似文献
