Glycosylation in Indolent,Significant and Aggressive Prostate Cancer by Automated High-Throughput N-Glycan Profiling

The diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer (PCa) is a major health-care concern worldwide. This cancer can manifest itself in many distinct forms and the transition from clinically indolent PCa to the more invasive aggressive form remains poorly understood. It is now universally accepted that glycan expression patterns change with the cellular modifications that accompany the onset of tumorigenesis. The aim of this study was to investigate if differential glycosylation patterns could distinguish between indolent, significant, and aggressive PCa. Whole serum N-glycan profiling was carried out on 117 prostate cancer patients’ serum using our automated, high-throughput analysis platform for glycan-profiling which utilizes ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) to obtain high resolution separation of N-linked glycans released from the serum glycoproteins. We observed increases in hybrid, oligomannose, and biantennary digalactosylated monosialylated glycans (M5A1G1S1, M8, and A2G2S1), bisecting glycans (A2B, A2(6)BG1) and monoantennary glycans (A1), and decreases in triantennary trigalactosylated trisialylated glycans with and without core fucose (A3G3S3 and FA3G3S3) with PCa progression from indolent through significant and aggressive disease. These changes give us an insight into the disease pathogenesis and identify potential biomarkers for monitoring the PCa progression, however these need further confirmation studies.

A protocol for performance evaluation of line detection algorithms

Accurate and efficient vectorization of line drawings is essential for any higher level processing in document analysis and recognition systems. In spite of the prevalence of vectorization and line detection methods, no standard for their performance evaluation protocol exists. We propose a protocol for evaluating both straight and circular line extraction to help compare, select, improve, and even design line detection algorithms to be incorporated into line drawing recognition and understanding systems. The protocol involves both positive and negative sets of indices, at pixel and vector levels. Time efficiency is also included in the protocol. The protocol may be extended to handle lines of any shape as well as other classes of graphic objects.     

有机发光器件平板显示及彩色象元实现方案

有机发光器件（OLED）具有固体平板化的优点，用OLED制做平板显示器不仅重量轻和功耗低，而且能实现低成本的彩色大屏幕显示。本文从有机发光器件的原理出发，阐述了有机发光器件平板显示器的三色象元的一些实现方案和目前的发展状况，并对它们的基本结构及技术特点进行了比较。     

专用超大规模集成电路在LED显示系统中的应用

自1976年蒙特利尔奥运会采用了第一块黑白视频显示屏以来，各种大屏幕特别是LED显示屏得到了迅猛发展，在现代信息社会中更是随处可见。在这些显示系统中，应用了大量的不同种类的集成电路作为驱动芯片。本文叙述了运用于LED显示系统中的超大规模集成电路的强大功能。     

A One‐Kilobit PQR‐CMOS Smart Pixel Array

The photonic quantum ring (PQR) laser is a three dimensional whispering gallery (WG) mode laser and has anomalous quantum wire properties, such as microampere to nanoampere range threshold currents and √T‐dependent thermal red shifts. We observed uniform bottom emissions from a 1‐kb smart pixel chip of a 32×32 InGaAs PQR laser array flip‐chip bonded to a 0.35 µm CMOS‐based PQR laser driver. The PQR‐CMOS smart pixel array, now operating at 30 MHz, will be improved to the GHz frequency range through device and circuit optimization.     

Simultaneous HPLC quantification of total cholesterol,tocopherols and β-carotene in Barrosã-PDO veal

A simple, rapid and sensitive procedure for the simultaneous determination of total cholesterol, tocopherols and β-carotene in meat is described. The method involves a direct saponification of the meat, a single n-hexane extraction and the analysis of the extracted compounds by normal-phase HPLC, using fluorescence (tocopherols) and UV–Vis photodiode array (cholesterol and β-carotene) detections in tandem. Rates of recovery of spiked meat samples were 93% for cholesterol, 83–86% for (α-, β- and -γ) tocopherols and 89% for β-carotene. Repeatabilities were high (CV < 6%) for all determined compounds, except for δ-tocopherol. This tocopherol, which is not usually present in meat, showed a much lower recovery percentage (73%) and repeatability (12.8%). This methodology was applied for the quantification of total cholesterol, tocopherols and β-carotene in three muscles (longissimus thoracis, longissimus lumborum and semitendinosus) of the Portuguese traditional Barrosã-PDO veal, obtained from autochthonous calves fed extensively during summer (with the least abundant green pastures) and slaughtered in early autumn (October). Barrosã-PDO veal showed median contents of total cholesterol (0.50–0.56 mg/g) and, depending on the analysed muscle, moderate to high contents of α-tocopherol (3.3–3.9 μg/g) and β-carotene (0.07–0.09 μg/g), suggesting an high sensorial and hygienic quality.     

浅谈江西省政务信息网高清视频系统

随着江西省各级政府系统信息化建设的日益发展,现有的政务信息网视频会议系统陈旧落后,无法满足现阶段的工作要求。为满足各级党政机关的会议要求,引进最先进的网络高清视讯技术H.264,建设一套高清视频会议系统,具有重要意义。     

基于中值滤波和梯度锐化的边缘检测

实现一种基于中值滤波和梯度锐化的边缘检测方法。首先采用既能过滤噪声又能保护边缘信息的中值滤波对图像进行平滑处理。然后采用梯度锐化加强边缘像素强度,通过简单的二值化获得图像的初始边缘,系统采用连通区域标记的方法去除位于图像封闭边界内的残留黑块。最后通过实验结果与人工提取的结果比较,进行误差分析,找出本文算法的不足之处,以便对该算法进行改进。实践证明,本文的边缘检测方法对含有噪声点且灰度分布比较均匀的图像有很好的效果。
