This paper presents an approach to assist authors during the authoring of multimedia presentations. We extend the existing authoring support by integrating processes of topic identification, content collection and discourse structure building in a single environment. This integration allows identification of the context of the authoring process. Our approach combines this process context awareness with explicit domain and discourse knowledge to steer system suggestions. We evaluate our approach with an experimental system prototype.  相似文献

It is well known that the production of phosphoric fertilizers by traditional methods is connected with certain environmental problems, particularly related to use of acids during the decomposition of natural phosphates. A basic problem is also the fact that only 15 – 20% of the phosphorus contained in superphosphates is assimilated by plants.The development of methods to process natural phosphates without acid precipitation has potential advantages and in this respect biotechnological processing of natural phosphates in order to obtain organo-mineral fertilizers is very promising. The possibility of bioconverting the phosphorus of natural phosphates by usingAspergillus niger fungi through their deep incubation has been investigated. The investigations aim to achieve a high degree of P2O5 extraction from the phosphates with conversion from a non-utilizable to a utilizable form. The influence of the fungal strain, the kind of nutritive medium and the time of incubation of the process of biological mobilization of the phosphate rock is examined.It was established that the time of incubation, the kind of micro-organisms of theAspergillus niger group, as well as the kind of nutritive medium, influence significantly the process of bioconversion and the conversion of phosphorus from non-utilizable to water-soluble and utilizable for plants form. A maximum degree 90% of phosphorus extraction in the form of water-soluble and citrate-soluble has been reached for 10-day incubation. Physicochemical examinations have been carried out and they have proved that, as a result of the produced organic acids, a process of decomposition of the initial Tunisian phosphorite takes place.  相似文献

The authors examined the effects of suboptimally presented facial expressions on emotional and attentional responses and memory among 39 young adults viewing video (business news) messages from a small screen. Facial electromyography (EMG) and respiratory sinus arrhythmia were used as physiological measures of emotion and attention, respectively. Several congruency priming effects were found. In particular, happy facial primes prompted increased (a) pleasure ratings, (b) orbicularis oculi EMG activity, (c) perceived trustworthiness, and (d) recognition memory for video messages with a positive emotional tone. Emotional and other responses to video messages presented on a small screen can be modified with suboptimal affective primes, but even small differences in the emotional tone of the messages should be allowed for. The introduction of automatic display layout (ADL), i.e. the automatic placing and sizing of windows in a window-oriented graphical user interface, is a major contribution towards an improved user interface. Our approach to ADL is to treat this problem as a combinatorial optimization problem. In this article we describe the concepts we used for implementing an experimental system which controls the computer screen contents and its layout. We give two examples of different standard applications into which we included ADL successfully, namely hypertext for a window layout problem and graph-browser for a hierarchical graph layout problem within a particular window. The results show that automatic (and tool independent) display layout will be possible in the near future even in an interactive environment.  相似文献

Advanced online product presentation technologies such as virtual mirrors enable consumers to experience products like they are actually present with them in the real world. This study is one of the first to address the mechanism underlying this phenomenon. Inspired by literature on media technology the concept of local presence is put forward and applied to the online consumer behavior domain. A key objective of this paper is to examine whether local presence adds to our understanding of how emerging product presentation formats influence online product experiences. To this end, a laboratory experiment (N = 366) was conducted with product presentation format as a three level (pictures, 360-spin rotation, and virtual mirror) independent variable, allowing for a comparison of the effectiveness of different presentation formats in creating perceptions of local presence. As a second objective, the influence of local presence on perceptions of product tangibility and product likability, two key facets of the online product experience, were assessed. The results, obtained with the use of analysis of variance and partial least squares modeling, show the superiority of the virtual mirror in creating local presence, and demonstrate that local presence is highly predictive of product tangibility and product likability. Theoretical and managerial implications are discussed.  相似文献

There is increasing evidence that user characteristics can have a significant impact on visualization effectiveness, suggesting that visualizations could be designed to better fit each user's specific needs. Most studies to date, however, have looked at static visualizations. Studies considering interactive visualizations have only looked at a limited number of user characteristics, and consider either low‐level tasks (e.g., value retrieval), or high‐level tasks (in particular: discovery), but not both. This paper contributes to this line of work by looking at the impact of a large set of user characteristics on user performance with interactive visualizations, for both low and high‐level tasks. We focus on interactive visualizations that support decision making, exemplified by a visualization known as Value Charts. We include in the study two versions of ValueCharts that differ in terms of layout, to ascertain whether layout mediates the impact of individual differences and could be considered as a form of personalization. Our key findings are that (i) performance with low and high‐level tasks is affected by different user characteristics, and (ii) users with low visual working memory perform better with a horizontal layout. We discuss how these findings can inform the provision of personalized support to visualization processing.  相似文献
