The cognitive radio (CR) system opportunistically utilizes the frequency bands temporally unoccupied by the primary user. In the CR system, the energy or cyclostationary detector is used to detect the primary user signal. For protecting the primary user tightly, the signal detection time can be very long, which leads to inefficiency in the CR system. Thus, we propose a novel signal detector that greatly reduces the average detection time. The proposed detector periodically decides whether it terminates the detection process or receives more input signal for more information. Therefore, the proposed detector has variable detection time. We will call the proposed detector the variable length signal detector (VLSD). The VLSD is designed by using a partially observable Markov decision process framework for optimal performance. We present the numerical results showing that the VLSD requires much smaller average detection time compared with the traditional fixed length signal detector to achieve a given detection error probability. This study deals with the effect of MSWI slag on fired clay bricks. Brick samples were heated to temperatures which varied from 800 to 1,000 degrees C for 6h, with a heating rate of 10 degrees C/min. The material properties of the resultant material then determined, including speciation variation, loss on ignition, shrinkage, bulk density, 24-h absorption rate and compressive strength. Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure tests were also conducted. The results indicate that the heavy metal concentrations in the leachates met the current regulatory thresholds. Increasing the amount of MSWI slag resulted in a decrease in the water absorption rate and an increase in the compressive strength of the MSWI-slag bricks. The 24-h absorption rate and compressive strength of the MSWI-slag brick made from samples containing slag sintered at 1,000 degrees C all met the Chinese National Standard (CNS) building requirements for second-class brick. The addition of MSWI slag to the mixture reduced the degree of firing shrinkage. This indicates that MSWI slag is indeed suitable for the partial replacement of clay in bricks.  相似文献

The recent advances in deciphering the human genome allow us to understand and evaluate the mechanisms of human genome age-associated transformations, which are largely unclear. Genome sequencing techniques assure comprehensive mapping of human genetics; however, understanding of gene functional interactions, specifically of time/age-dependent modifications, remain challenging. The age of the genome is defined by the sum of individual (inherited) and acquired genomic traits, based on internal and external factors that impact ontogenesis from the moment of egg fertilization and embryonic development. The biological part of genomic age opens a new perspective for intervention. The discovery of single cell-based mechanisms for genetic change indicates the possibility of influencing aging and associated disease burden, as well as metabolism. Cell populations with transformed genetic background were shown to serve as the origin of common diseases during extended life expectancy (superaging). Consequently, age-related cell transformation leads to cancer and cell degeneration (senescence). This article aims to describe current advances in the genomic mechanisms of senescence and its role in the spatiotemporal spread of epithelial clones and cell evolution.  相似文献

In a public safety environment, user equipments (UEs) located within the coverage area of evolved NodeB, relay network services to out-of-coverage UEs. However, relay UEs in public safety environments are typically energy constrained and cannot operate indefinitely without recharging. Radio frequency energy harvesting has been proposed as a solution for recharging wireless UEs. In this paper, we propose a scheme for extending the lifetime of a public safety network by wirelessly charging relay UEs. In addition, we propose a relay selection method considering the battery status of relay UEs. The proposed relay selection is defined as a bipartite graph matching problem and the optimal relay is obtained through matching games technique. The proposed scheme not only improves the network lifetime but also extend the network coverage. We also conduct system level simulations to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme. Simulation results show that the overall performance of the system is improved in terms of achievable throughput and network lifetime.  相似文献

A new type of epoxy resin, which contained phosphorus oxide and nitrogen groups in the main chain, was synthesized. The structure of the new type of epoxy resin was confirmed by infrared (IR) spectroscopy, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H‐NMR), and 13C‐NMR spectroscopic techniques. In addition, compositions of the new synthesized epoxy resin (TGDMO) with three curing agents, for example, bis(3‐aminophenyl) methylphosphine oxide (BAMP), 4,4′‐diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM), and 4,4′‐diaminodiphenylsulfone (DDS), were used for making a comparison of its curing reactivity, heat, and flame retardancy with that of Epon 828 and DEN 438. The reactivities were measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Through the evaluation of thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), those polymers which were obtained through the curing reactions between the new epoxy resin and three curing agents (BAMP, DDM, and DDS) also demonstrated excellent thermal properties as well as a high char yield. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The dynamicity of available resources and network conditions, such as channel capacity and traffic characteristics, have posed major challenges to scheduling in wireless networks. Reinforcement learning (RL) enables wireless nodes to observe their respective operating environment, learn, and make optimal or near-optimal scheduling decisions. Learning, which is the main intrinsic characteristic of RL, enables wireless nodes to adapt to most forms of dynamicity in the operating environment as time goes by. This paper presents an extensive review on the application of the traditional and enhanced RL approaches to various types of scheduling schemes, namely packet, sleep-wake and task schedulers, in wireless networks, as well as the advantages and performance enhancements brought about by RL. Additionally, it presents how various challenges associated with scheduling schemes have been approached using RL. Finally, we discuss various open issues related to RL-based scheduling schemes in wireless networks in order to explore new research directions in this area. Discussions in this paper are presented in a tutorial manner in order to establish a foundation for further research in this field.  相似文献

The redox performance of pure iron oxide (Fe2O3) and iron oxide modified with ceria (CeO2) and/or zirconia (ZrO2) as an oxygen carrier was investigated for hydrogen (H2) production through a methane-steam redox process. The addition of both CeO2 and ZrO2 were found to be a more effective modification of Fe2O3 than the addition CeO2 or ZrO2 alone. It was found that the reducibility of Fe2O3 was enhanced by CeO2 and the thermal stability of Fe2O3 was improved by ZrO2. These results, therefore, led to the conclusion of the synergistic effect in the Fe2O3-CeO2-ZrO2 mixed oxide. As a result, both the redox activity and the thermal stability were significantly improved, and increases in H2 yield and purity could be maintained by the modification. The redox temperature was found to have a significant effect on redox performance. The production of H2 was considerably improved when the redox temperature was increased from 650 to 750 °C. The ZrO2 concentration in Fe2O3-CeO2-ZrO2 mixed oxide samples was also found to influence performance with the highest H2 yield observed at a ZrO2 concentration of 75 wt.%. Although all materials tested showed a reduction in surface area in the first redox cycle, the change in surface area in subsequent cycles was found to be smaller and the yield of H2 could be maintained at a constant level over a longer period for the mixed oxide containing 75 wt.% ZrO2.  相似文献

The feasibility of emulsifying starches as bread improvers was investigated by incorporating starch sodium octenyl succinate (OSA-st), pre-gelatinized OSA-st and hydrolysed spray-dried OSA-st at 2.5, 5 and 10 % into wheat flour. Dough rheological properties (creep and recovery measurements; Mixolab, Alveograph) and bread quality parameters (specific loaf volume, crust and crumb colour, crumb moisture, crumb grain features, texture) were evaluated. The substituted flours, except hydrolysed OSA-st, significantly increased water absorption measured by Mixolab. The study on the rheological behaviour of doughs containing emulsifying starches, performed using a rheometer and an Alveograph, showed that OSA-st incorporation yielded strengthened dough, whereas pre-gelatinized and hydrolysed OSA-st addition led to more extensible dough. With regard to the thermal behaviour, investigated in water-limited systems by Mixolab, doughs prepared from pre-gelatinized OSA-st and hydrolysed OSA-st exhibited lower maximum peak torque, whilst all three examined starches increased cooking stability and decreased the setback value. Specific volumes of loaves baked from the substituted flours increased, and the highest effect was observed with pre-gelatinized OSA-st, which consequently produced bread crumbs with the largest mean gas cell area. The bread crumbs baked with octenyl succinate starches were whiter and softer. Although upon 1 day of storage no significant moisture retention capacity of emulsifying starches was noticed, the firmness values of OSA-st and pre-gelatinized OSA-st-supplemented bread crumbs, after 24 h of storage, were similar to or significantly lower than those of the control determined 2 h after baking. The obtained results indicate a requirement for further optimization of the octenyl succinate starch-supplemented doughs in terms of the combination of different types and levels of modified starches in order to obtain maximum bread quality.  相似文献
