Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the main cause of mortality in hemodialysis (HD) patients. Epicardial fat tissue (EFT) is a new risk factor in CVD. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between EFT and coronary artery flow reserve (CFR), which is an early indicator of endothelial dysfunction in coronary vessels of HD patients. We performed a cross‐sectional study including 71 chronic HD patients and 65 age‐ and sex‐matched healthy controls. Epicardial fat tissue was significantly higher in HD patients when compared to healthy controls (6.53 ± 1.01 mm vs. 5.79 ± 1.06 mm, respectively, P < 0.001). On transthoracic Doppler echocardiography, CFR values were significantly lower in HD patients when compared to healthy controls (1.73 ± 0.11 vs. 2.32 ± 0.28, P < 0.001). Correlation analysis showed CFR values to be inversely correlated with EFT (r = ?0.287, P < 0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis was used to define independent determinants of EFT in HD patients. Artery flow reserve, age, body mass index and total cholesterol levels were independently correlated with EFT thickness. This study demonstrated that EFT was significantly higher among HD patients compared to healthy controls. In addition, this study was the first to demonstrate an inverse correlation between EFT and CFR in this patient population.  相似文献

A new method called the straight notched disk bending method is developed for mode I fracture toughness determination using rock cores. Disk specimens of andesite and marble having a single straight edge notch were subjected to three-point bending loads. Dimensionless stress intensity factor estimations and fracture toughness tests were conducted for different notch lengths, span lengths, thicknesses and diameters of the cylindrical rock specimens. Stress intensity factors were computed by three-dimensional finite element modeling and the results were presented for a wide range of specimen geometrical parameters. Results of experiments were compared to the results of well-known mode I fracture toughness testing methods. For specimens having thickness equal to the radius, mode I fracture toughness was lower and close to the results obtained by semi-circular bending method. When thickness was increased and doubled, mode I fracture toughness increased and approached to the value found by the suggested cracked chevron notched Brazilian disk method. Advantages of the new method included easy specimen preparation and testing procedure, stiffer specimen geometry, smaller fracture process zone, and flexibility of the specimen geometry for the investigation of the size effect behavior.  相似文献

The aim of the review was to evaluate patient and treatment characteristics for patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) treated with PSMA radioligand therapy (PRLT) associated with above-average outcome. The systematic review and meta-analysis followed recommendations by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA). We searched for publications in PubMed, Embase, and ClinicalTrials.gov up to 31 September 2020. Thirty-six publications and four duplicates reported 2346 patients. Nearly two-thirds of the patients had bone metastases. Median overall survival (OS) was 16 months. Asymptomatic patients and patients with only lymph node metastases lived longer than symptomatic patients and patients with more extensive metastases. Patients treated with an intensified schedule of 177Lu PRLT lived longer than those treated with a conventional schedule. Half of the patients obtained a PSA decline ≥ 50% and these patients lived longer than those with less PSA decline. Approximately 10% of the patients developed hematologic toxicity with anemia grade 3 as the most severe adverse effect. Characteristics for patients, cancer, restaging, and PRLT predict above average overall survival following treatment with PRLT.  相似文献

Epoxy‐clay nanocomposites were synthesized to examine the effects of the content and type of different clays on the structure and mechanical properties of the nanocomposites. Diglycidyl ether of bisphenol‐A (epoxy) was reinforced by 0.5–11 wt % natural (Cloisite Na+) and organically modified (Cloisite 30B) types of montmorillonite. SEM results showed that as the clay content increased, larger agglomerates of clay were present. Nanocomposites with Cloisite 30B exhibited better dispersion and a lower degree of agglomeration than nanocomposites with Cloisite Na+. X‐ray results indicated that in nanocomposites with 3 wt % Cloisite 30B, d‐spacing expanded from 18.4 Å (the initial value of the pure clay) to 38.2 Å. The glass transition temperature increased from 73°C, in the unfilled epoxy resin, to 83.5°C in the nanocomposite with 9 wt % Cloisite 30B. The tensile strength exhibited a maximum at 1 wt % modified clay loading. Addition of 0.5 wt % organically modified clay improved the impact strength of the epoxy resin by 137%; in contrast, addition of 0.5 wt % unmodified clay improved the impact strength by 72%. The histopathological examination of tissue specimens is essential for cancer diagnosis and grading. However, this examination is subject to a considerable amount of observer variability as it mainly relies on visual interpretation of pathologists. To alleviate this problem, it is very important to develop computational quantitative tools, for which image segmentation constitutes the core step. In this paper, we introduce an effective and robust algorithm for the segmentation of histopathological tissue images. This algorithm incorporates the background knowledge of the tissue organization into segmentation. For this purpose, it quantifies spatial relations of cytological tissue components by constructing a graph and uses this graph to define new texture features for image segmentation. This new texture definition makes use of the idea of gray-level run-length matrices. However, it considers the runs of cytological components on a graph to form a matrix, instead of considering the runs of pixel intensities. Working with colon tissue images, our experiments demonstrate that the texture features extracted from "graph run-length matrices" lead to high segmentation accuracies, also providing a reasonable number of segmented regions. Compared with four other segmentation algorithms, the results show that the proposed algorithm is more effective in histopathological image segmentation.  相似文献

The determination of the dynamic contact angle is of significant interest for the characterization of the wettability of technical fibers and textiles in diverse fields of science and technology. There exist traditional methods for dynamic contact angle measurements of flat surfaces and of fibers with a uniform cross-sectional shape along the fiber. So far, however, no method has been reported which is suitable for structured fibers, particularly for spindle-knotted structured fibers of varying cross-sections. This article describes a new method for measuring the dynamic contact angle for polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) spindle-knotted structured fibers. The method is an outcome of integrating the results obtained from experiments (applying force tensiometry) and a proposed theoretical model describing such fibers. The reliability and conformity of the results are shown by comparing the measured dynamic contacts angle of PDMS as spindle-knot and as a flat surface. This method may pave the road for better wettability analysis of various structured fibers. It also allows to measure the local receding and advancing contact angles for macroscopic/microscopic structured fibers (especially when they are not accessible as flat surfaces) against the various test liquids.  相似文献

Molodtsov (1999) initiated the concept of soft sets in [1]. Maji et al. (2003) defined some operations on soft sets in [22]. Akta? and Ça?man (2007) generalized soft sets by defining the concept of soft groups in [16]. After them, Sun et al. (2008) gave soft modules in [21]. In this paper, the concept of an intuitionistic fuzzy soft module is introduced and some operations on intuitionistic fuzzy soft sets are given.
