Cooperative adaptive cruise control(CACC)vehicles are intelligent vehicles that use vehicular ad hoc networks(VANETs)to share trafc information in real time.Previous studies have shown that CACC could have an impact on increasing highway capacities at high market penetration.Since reaching a high CACC market penetration level is not occurring in the near future,this study presents a progressive deployment approach that demonstrates to have a great potential of reducing trafc congestions at low CACC penetration levels.Using a previously developed microscopic trafc simulation model of a freeway with an on-ramp—created to induce perturbations and trigger stop-and-go trafc,the CACC system s efect on the trafc performance is studied.The results show signifcance and indicate the potential of CACC systems to improve trafc characteristics which can be used to reduce trafc congestion.The study shows that the impact of CACC is positive and not only limited to a high market penetration.By giving CACC vehicles priority access to high-occupancy vehicle(HOV)lanes,the highway capacity could be signifcantly improved with a CACC penetration as low as 20%.  相似文献

Summary The room temperature conductivity of lithium salts dissolved in polyethylene oxide, proposed as polymer electrolytes, is shown to decrease drastically upon storage. The crystallization process, which is responsible for that ageing, can be blocked, if two further components are added : an elastomer copolymer butadiene-acrylonitrile and a macromer of polyoxyethylene. Experimental results are presented and analyzed for an inexpensive method of membrane protection from colloidal fouling. An inexpensive dynamic precoat protective cover using diatomaceous earth is placed on the high pressure feed-water side of the asymmetric cellulose acetate membrane. Increased water and salt fluxes with the precoat as high as 2.3 times that without precoat were measured. The presence of submicron pin-holes in the membrane skin is used to explain the mechanism of protection against submicron colloids.This method of protection is most attractive for high-flux and medium-salt rejection applications for colloidal containing feed solutions. Such applications include the treatment of municipal, industrial, and agricultural waste-waters for reuse and as a possible pretreatment step for sea water reverse osmosis desalination.  相似文献

Many tasks in day-to-day life involve interactions among several people. Many of these interactions involve negotiating over a desired outcome. Negotiation in and of itself is not an easy task, and it becomes more complex under conditions of incomplete information. For example, the parties do not know in advance the exact tradeoff of their counterparts between different outcomes. Furthermore information regarding the preferences of counterparts might only be elicited during the negotiation process itself. In this paper we propose a model for an automated negotiation agent capable of negotiating with bounded rational agents under conditions of incomplete information. We test this agent against people in two distinct domains, in order to verify that its model is generic, and thus can be adapted to any domain as long as the negotiators' preferences can be expressed in additive utilities. Our results indicate that the automated agent reaches more agreements and plays more effectively than its human counterparts. Moreover, in most of the cases, the automated agent achieves significantly better agreements, in terms of individual utility, than the human counterparts playing the same role.  相似文献

Epitaxial YBa2Cu3O7– thin films (YBCO) and YBa2Cu3O7– /PrBa2Cu3O7– multilayers (Y/Pr) were irradiated with high-energy heavy ions (770 Mev208Pb) under various directions relative to thec-axis. The irradiation resulted in columnar defects tilted by from thec-axis. The angular dependence of their pinning activity was studied by measuring the anisotropy of the critical current density. TheJ c (B, T,) behavior of the irradiated YBCO thin films showed an additional peak, which exceeds the intrinsic pinning peak, exactly at the irradiation direction. The Y/Pr multilayers, however, showed an isotropicT c -enhancement by a factor of 5, without any additional structure in theJ c(B, T,) curve.  相似文献

Poly[1-methyl-1-[3-(3-pyridinyl)propyl]-1-sila-cis-pent-3-ene], poly[1-phenyl-1-[3-(3-pyridinyl)propyl)-1-sila-cis-pent-3-ene], and poly[1-phenyl-1-(4-pyridinyl)-1-sila-cis-pent-3-ene] were synthesized by the anionic ring-opening polymerization of 1-methyl-1-[3-(3-pyridinyl)propyl]-1-silacyclopent-3-ene, 1-phenyl-1-[3-(3-pyridinyl)propyl]-1-silacyclopent-3-ene, and 1-phenyl-1-(4-pyridinyl)-1-silacyclopent-3-ene, respectively. These are the first polycarbosilanes which contain heterocyclic pyridine units as side-chain substituents. These polymers were characterized by1H,13C, and29Si NMR as well as by IR and UV spectroscopy. The molecular weight distributions were determined by gel permeation chromatography, glass transition temperatures, by differential seanning calorimetry: (DSC) and thermal behavior, by thermogravimetric analysis. Metal halide perovskite (MHP) semiconductors have driven a revolution in optoelectronic technologies over the last decade, in particular for high-efficiency photovoltaic applications. Low-dimensional MHPs presenting electronic confinement have promising additional prospects in light emission and quantum technologies. However, the optimisation of such applications requires a comprehensive understanding of the nature of charge carriers and their transport mechanisms. This study employs a combination of ultrafast optical and terahertz spectroscopy to investigate phonon energies, charge-carrier mobilities, and exciton formation in 2D (PEA)2PbI4 and (BA)2PbI4 (where PEA is phenylethylammonium and BA is butylammonium). Temperature-dependent measurements of free charge-carrier mobilities reveal band transport in these strongly confined semiconductors, with surprisingly high in-plane mobilities. Enhanced charge-phonon coupling is shown to reduce charge-carrier mobilities in (BA)2PbI4 with respect to (PEA)2PbI4. Exciton and free charge-carrier dynamics are disentangled by simultaneous monitoring of transient absorption and THz photoconductivity. A sustained free charge-carrier population is observed, surpassing the Saha equation predictions even at low temperature. These findings provide new insights into the temperature-dependent interplay of exciton and free-carrier populations in 2D MHPs. Furthermore, such sustained free charge-carrier population and high mobilities demonstrate the potential of these semiconductors for applications such as solar cells, transistors, and electrically driven light sources.  相似文献
