Arthemis: annotation software in an integrated capturing and analysis system for colonoscopy

Colonoscopy is an endoscopic technique that allows physicians to inspect the inside of the human colon. During a colonoscopic procedure, a tiny video camera at the tip of the endoscope generates a video signal of the internal mucosa of the colon. In current practice, the entire colonoscopic procedure is not routinely captured. Software tools providing easy access to important contents of videos that are digitally captured during colonoscopy are not available. Hence, it is very time consuming to review an entire video, locate important contents, annotate them, and extract the annotated contents for research, teaching, and training purposes. Arthemis, a software application, was developed to facilitate this process. For convenient data sharing, Arthemis allows annotation according to the European Gastrointestinal Society for Endoscopy (ESGE) Minimal Standard Terminology (MST), an internationally accepted standard for digestive endoscopy. Arthemis is part of our integrated capturing and content analysis system for colonoscopy called Endoscopic Multimedia Information System (EMIS). This paper presents Arthemis as a component of EMIS, the design and implementation of Arthemis, and key lessons learned from the development process.

城市大气移动监测系统的研究

本文研究了一种新型的城市大气移动监测系统,该系统以城市交通为载体。大气监测装置可以监测到几乎整个城市的大气情况,能够便捷、全面地对整个城市大气进行监测。系统通过传感器对空气进行采样,通过GPS设备进行无线数据传输。依据数据绘制实时空气质量直方图及当前车辆所在的位置地图,并做出分析,画出各区域一天内的大气变化直方图及曲线图,将结果发布在Internet上,供市民上网浏览。     

Windows系统中基于GPS的对时方法的研究

目前各种控制系统中,通常采用广播校时的方式,对同一网络内的计算机进行时间同步。由于传播过程中的网络延时、网络传输速度等原因,采用这种方式的校时精度很难得到保证。针对这种情况,提出了一种基于GPS全球定位系统的校时方法,采用了精粗组合的手段提高了校时的精度。实验结果表明,该方法校时精度较高,具有一定的实用性。     

Design, construction, and application of a generic visual languagegeneration environment

The implementation of visual programming languages (VPLs) and their supporting environments is time-consuming and tedious. To ease the task, researchers have developed some high-level tools to reduce the development effort. None of these tools, however, can be easily used to create a complete visual language in a seamless way as the lex/yacc tools do for textual language constructions. This paper presents the design, construction and application of a generic visual language generation environment, called VisPro. The VisPro design model improves the conventional model-view-controller framework in that its functional modules are decoupled to allow independent development and integration. The VisPro environment consists of a set of visual programming tools. Using VisPro, the process of VPL construction can be divided into two steps: lexicon definition and grammar specification. The former step defines visual objects and a visual editor, and the latter step provides language grammars with graph rewriting rules. The compiler for the VPL is automatically created according to the grammar specification. A target VPL is generated as a programming environment which contains the compiler and the visual editor. The paper demonstrates how VisPro is used by building a simple visual language and a more complex visual modeling language for distributed programming

Theoretical study on the static performance of piezoelectric ceramic-polymer composites with 2-2 connectivity

The static equilibrium conditions have been derived for piezoelectric-ceramic-polymer composite structures. Rigorous solutions are obtained for a 2-2 composite of lamellar configuration. Under a uniaxial stress or an electric field the strain profile becomes inhomogeneous due to different elastic stiffness of the two components (hard piezoelectric ceramics and soft polymer). The stress transfer between the two components is identified as due to an additional shear stress produced at the ceramic-polymer interface, and the amplification factor is defined for the enhancement of the response of the active piezoelectric ceramic resulting from this stress transfer. It is shown that this enhancement effect not only depends on the volume percentage of the active component but also on the aspect ratio of the two components.
