ABSTRACT

For the first time, we have fabricated insect-derived cell sheets by using temperature-responsive culture surfaces having a phase-transition temperature below 25°C. We prepared the temperature-responsive cell culture surfaces (tissue culture polystyrene, TCPS) by grafting a copolymeric gel consisting of hydrophobic N-tert-butylacrylamide (tBAAm) and N-isopropylacrylamide (IPAAm) units. First, to characterize the hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties of the copolymeric gel-grafted surfaces, static water contact angles of each surface were measured at various temperatures. By increasing the amount of tBAAm in the grafted copolymeric gel, the transition temperature of the gel was shifted to lower temperatures. At 25°C, the grafted copolymeric gel was dehydrated, and the insect-derived cells (AeAl2 cells) adhered on all the copolymeric gel-grafted surfaces. At 20°C, AeAl2 cells cannot adhere on the P(IPAAm-1.62tBAAm)-TCPS surface (the initial molar ratio of IPAAm and tBAAm (tBAAm?=?1.62 mol%)) better than on other surfaces (TCPS and tBAAm?=?4.88, 8.17 mol%). These two findings implied that the lower critical solution temperature of the copolymeric gel-grafted-TCPS existed from 20°C to 25°C. The laminin-coated P(IPAAm-1.62tBAAm)-TCPS surface showed temperature-dependent cell attachment and detachment properties, while AeAl2 cells were not detached from the extracellular matrix uncoated P(IPAAm-1.62tBAAm)-TCPS surface. AeAl2 cells and insect muscle cells were harvested as the respective sheets.  相似文献

Pulse tube refrigerators do not have moving parts in the cold section, and they have low vibration, high reliability, and long life. The expander in refrigerators typically has an inverted U or coaxial shape because this attains a wider absorber area, lower height, and compactness. However, the performance of a Stirling-type pulse tube refrigerator is inferior to that of a Stirling refrigerator. Cooling characteristics of the pulse tube refrigerator greatly depend on the shape of the expander. In this study, an inertance-type refrigerator, which uses ambient air for the working gas, was developed to examine the effect of expander shape. This refrigerator model with changeable expander operated with a Stirling cycle, and it was composed of a reciprocating compressor, after-cooler, regenerator, absorber, pulse tube, hot-end, and inertance tube with reservoir. The following expander shapes were tested: in-line, L shape, L-L shape, and coaxial shape. The effect of expander shape on cooling capacity was examined experimentally and numerically using the model pulse tube refrigerator. The results of experiments showed that the L shape expander had the highest performance and the coaxial expander had the lowest performance. In addition, the characteristics of the gas flow in each expander were confirmed by fluid dynamics analysis.  相似文献

Thermal annealing effects on optical and electrical characteristics for p-type and n-type II–VI compound layers (ZnSe, ZnSSe, and MgZnSSe) and on the emission efficiency of ZnCdSe/Zn(S)Se 6 quantum well (QW) light emitting diodes (LEDs) grown by molecular beam epitaxy were investigated. It was clarified that serious degradation of optical and electrical characteristics was not observed up to an annealing temperature of 400°C. In the case of p-MgZnSSe, the maximum permitted annealing temperature was lower than that of Zn(S)Se. The light output of the ZnCdSe/Zn(S)Se multi QW LEDs was enhanced by a factor of three at optimum thermal annealing conditions. The study suggests that this thermal effect for LEDs was produced by the improved crystal quality of ZnCdSe QWs by thermal annealing.  相似文献

The presence of an alarm pheromone was demonstrated in the deutonymphal stage of the oribatid mite, Nothrus palustris (C. L. Koch). The active principle was identified as 3,7-dimethyl-(E)-2,6-octadienal, geranial, and was shown to be active at doses of 10–100 ng. A simple method for intraliposomal entrapment of platinum complexes is presented, where hydrophilic platinum oligonuclear complexes, 1-methyluracil green (MeUG), uridine green (UdG) and uridine blue (UdB), are included inside liposomes and allowed to react with bilayer lipids. The liposomes prepared in this method exhibit higher entrapment efficiency and higher distribution to organs (liver, kidney, spleen, lung) and blood (but not B16 cancer cells) than those prepared from mononuclear Pt complexes [cis-diamminedichloroplatinum, cis-diammine-1,1′-dicarboxylatocyclobutaneplatinum, and cis-dichloro-cis-dihydroxy-trans-bis(isopropylamine)platinum)].  相似文献

The creep properties, that is, the velocity constant, activation energy, stress index, and time index, of a test piece (TP) cut from a glass‐fiber‐reinforced nylon 6 product were successfully determined by a compression creep test. In the determination of the creep properties, the experimental creep curves for the TP were fitted by finite element analysis (FEA). Fiber‐reinforced nylon 6 beams with different fiber orientations were also prepared, and their creep properties were successfully determined by a combination of the bending creep test and the corresponding analysis. The creep behavior of the press‐fit component composed of a metal collar and a fiber‐reinforced nylon 6 product was predicted by FEA with the determined creep properties of the TP. The predicted retention forces were in good agreement with the experimental ones. Polymerization of vinyl chloride (VC) with a Cp*Ti(OPh)3/MAO catalyst in toluene was investigated. The polymerization rate was lower than that in CH2Cl2, and the mm triad concentration of the PVC obtained in toluene was somewhat higher than that of the PVC obtained in CH2Cl2. As the polymerization in toluene proceeded at a considerable rate, a kinetic study of this polymerization was undertaken. The polymer yield increased with reaction time, and the molecular weight of the polymer increased with increasing polymer yield. The Mw/Mn ratio of the polymer decreased with increasing polymerization temperature. The initiator efficiency of the catalyst was low at the initial stage of the polymerization in toluene, but it reached nearly 100% when the polymerization was carried out for more than 30 h. The control of both themolecular weight of PVC and its main‐chain structure was found to be possible in the polymerization of VC with the Cp*Ti(OPh)3/MAO catalyst in toluene. J. VINYL ADDIT.
