Modified Hopfield neural networks for retrieving the optimalsolution

Due to the rugged energy function of the original Hopfield networks, the output is usually one local minimum in the energy function. An analysis on the locations of local minima in Hopfield networks is presented, and a modified network architecture to eliminate such local minima is described. In particular, another amplifier is introduced at the processor nodes to give correction terms. This modified Hopfield network has been successfully applied to the construction of analog-to-digital converters with optimal solutions. Experimental results on the voltage transfer characteristics of data converters are presented.     

Partitioning and mapping nested loops on multiprocessor systems

A method for executing nested loops with constant loop-carried dependencies in parallel on message-passing multiprocessor systems to reduce communication overhead is presented. In the partitioning phase, the nested loop is divided into blocks that reduce the interblock communication, without regard to the machine topology. The execution ordering of the iterations is defined by a given time function based on L. Lamport's (1974) hyperplane method. The iterations are then partitioned into blocks so that the execution ordering is not disturbed, and the amount of interblock communication is minimized. In the mapping phase, the partitioned blocks are mapped onto a fixed-size multiprocessor system in such a manner that the blocks that have to exchange data frequently are allocated to the same processor or neighboring processors. A heuristic mapping algorithm for hypercube machines is proposed     

Determination of glycyrrhizin and glycyrrhetinic acid in traditional Chinese medicinal preparations by capillary electrophoresis

A simple, rapid, accurate and reproducible capillary electrophoretic method was developed for the assay of glycyrrhizin and glycyrrhetinic acid in traditional Chinese medicinal preparations. The buffer solution used in this method was acetonitrile and 0.02 M sodium dihydrogen-phosphate solution adjusted to pH 7.5 with 0.05 M sodium hydroxide. The linear calibration range was 0.04-2.00 mg/ml (r = 0.9988) for glycyrrhizin and 0.007-0.35 mg/ml (r = 0.9985) for glycyrrhetinic acid and recoveries were 98.1-101.3% for glycyrrhizin and 98.5-101.4% for glycyrrhetinic acid. The relative standard deviations were 1.02% (n = 6) for glycyrrhizin and 0.91% (n = 6) for glycyrrhetinic acid. The content of these two acids in Glycyrrhizae Radix and Glycyrrhizae Radix-containing Chinese medicinal preparations was successfully determined within 10 min.     

A programmable analog VLSI neural network processor forcommunication receivers

An analog VLSI neural network processor was designed and fabricated for communication receiver applications. It does not require prior estimation of the channel characteristics. A powerful channel equalizer was implemented with this processor chip configured as a four-layered perceptron network. The compact synapse cell is realized with an enhanced wide-range Gilbert multiplier circuit. The output neuron consists of a linear current-to-voltage converter and a sigmoid function generator with a controllable voltage gain. Network training is performed by the modified Kalman neuro-filtering algorithm to speed up the convergence process for intersymbol interference and white Gaussian noise communication channels. The learning process is done in the companion DSP board which also keeps the synapse weight for later use of the chip. The VLSI neural network processor chip occupies a silicon area of 4.6 mmx6.8 mm and was fabricated in a 2-mum double-polysilicon CMOS technology. System analysis and experimental results are presented.

The Antithrombotic Agent Pterostilbene Interferes with Integrin αIIbβ3-Mediated Inside-Out and Outside-In Signals in Human Platelets

Platelets play a crucial role in the physiology of primary hemostasis and pathological processes such as arterial thrombosis; thus, developing a therapeutic target that prevents platelet activation can reduce arterial thrombosis. Pterostilbene (PTE) has remarkable pharmacological activities, including anticancer and neuroprotection. Few studies have reported the effects of pterostilbene on platelet activation. Thus, we examined the inhibitory mechanisms of pterostilbene in human platelets and its role in vascular thrombosis prevention in mice. At low concentrations (2–8 μM), pterostilbene strongly inhibited collagen-induced platelet aggregation. Furthermore, pterostilbene markedly diminished Lyn, Fyn, and Syk phosphorylation and hydroxyl radical formation stimulated by collagen. Moreover, PTE directly hindered integrin α_IIbβ₃ activation through interfering with PAC-1 binding stimulated by collagen. In addition, pterostilbene affected integrin α_IIbβ₃-mediated outside-in signaling, such as integrin β₃, Src, and FAK phosphorylation, and reduced the number of adherent platelets and the single platelet spreading area on immobilized fibrinogen as well as thrombin-stimulated fibrin clot retraction. Furthermore, pterostilbene substantially prolonged the occlusion time of thrombotic platelet plug formation in mice. This study demonstrated that pterostilbene exhibits a strong activity against platelet activation through the inhibition of integrin α_IIbβ₃-mediated inside-out and outside-in signaling, suggesting that pterostilbene can serve as a therapeutic agent for thromboembolic disorders.     

Phase Relationships in the ZrO2-Sc2O3 and ZrO2-In2O3 Systems

Zirconia-rich subsolidus phase relationships in the ZrO₂–Sc₂O₃ and ZrO₂–In₂O₃ systems were investigated. Phase inconsistencies in the ZrO₂–Sc₂O₃ system resulted from a diffusionless cubic-to-tetragonal ( t' ) phase transformation not being recognized in the past. Through three different measuring techniques, along with microstructural observations, the solubility limits of the tetragonal and cubic phases were determined.

首先简要介绍语义Web服务资源描述框架(RDF4S),在此基础上提出语义Web服务包装机制,语义Web服务经包装后,分别通过组合接口和调用接口为组合语义Web服务的设计与调用提供支持.然后分别详细介绍组合语义Web服务的设计存储和调用执行:通过图形化的设计工具按照语义Web服务的3种基本逻辑关系设计组合结构图,然后将该图映射到组合结构信息表存储,组合语义Web服务执行时根据结构信息表生成语义Web服务代理对象和相应的语义消息,再根据语义消息传递机制调用Web服务实体.最后用一个实例展示组合语义Web服务执行时的消息传递,试验表明该方法有效.
