Biodeterioration of concrete by microorganism colonisation may be a problem in several structures, especially in irrigation and hydroelectric canals. The main problem in such structures is the proliferation of algae and cyanobacteria that affect the performance of the structure, increase the maintenance costs and affects its durability. A research was conducted to develop a novel cement-based material with biocide activity that can be used as an overlay mortar in existing structures, such as canals and pipes. With this aim, ten commercial biocides were evaluated in a laboratory campaign to assess the effectiveness of the compounds against the microbial colonisation of concrete. Both mono- and multicomponent formulations were designed from the commercial products, to increase their antimicrobial effect obtaining a set of biocide formulations. The formulations were submitted to a flowchart process to determine their influence on the physical properties of the concrete, evaluate the release of the actives, and their antimicrobial efficiency both before and after accelerated aging processes. During the campaign, some formulations were observed to diminish the strength of the concrete. Such behaviour was normally due to the interaction of the active with the cement hydration process. Other formulations showed a high release of active from the concrete in water, compromising the durability of the treatment. In general, monocomponent formulations did not succeed to fulfill all the requirements, thus multicomponent formulations were analysed. One studied multicomponent formulation presented particularly good results in all properties analysed. This product did not significantly change the properties of concrete and the release of active in water from the concrete was low, while the antimicrobial effects were long lasting.  相似文献

Immunochromatographic assays (ICAs) are considered as a suitable diagnostic tool for the detection of mycotoxins. Mycotoxins and especially, ochratoxin A are analytes with more demanding sensitivity requirements. To enhance the sensitivity of current immunochromatographic assays for ochratoxin A (OTA), a novel sensitive ICA was developed in this study. In the assay, microspheres enclosing fluorescent europium (III) [Eu(III)] nanoparticles (EuNPs) were used as a label for OTA monoclonal antibody (OTA-mAb) conjugation. Accordingly, assay was called time-resolved fluorescent immunochromatographic assay (TRFICA). The test strip was composed of three parts: a sample pad, nitrocellulose membrane and an absorbent pad. As for detection, a proper concentration of conjugated microspheres was pipetted into the microtube and sample extract was added to it. Then the strip was inserted into the tube and the fluid flow along the strip. The TRFICA results were obtained in 8 min and read by a portable TRFICA strip reader. The established method allows quantitative determination of OTA with limit of detection as low as 1.0 μg kg−1 in the samples. For validation, spiked samples including wheat, maize, soybean and rice were respectively assayed by TRFICA and a standard high performance liquid chromatography equipped with a fluorescence detector (HPLC-FLD), and good agreement of results was obtained between two methods.  相似文献

The effect of gamma irradiation for inactivating the pathogens inoculated into the ready-to-eat Kimbab, steamed rice rolled by dried laver, was investigated. The pathogens used were Salmonella Typhimurium, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria ivanovii which are important for public health. The growth of four test organisms inoculated (about 106–107 CFU/g) into the Kimbab were sustained by an irradiation treatment during 24 h of storage regardless of the temperature at 10, 20 and 30 °C. Four pathogen inoculated into Kimbab decreased 2–3 log CFU/g by 1 kGy treatment and was not detected after 3 kGy. The D10 value of pathogens inoculated into the Kimbab were 0.31–0.44 kGy among the four organisms. This study indicated that a low dose irradiation can maintain microbial safety for ready-to-eat Kimbab, steamed rice rolled by dried laver.  相似文献

Sorghum seeds of cultivar Wad Ahemed (phytate: 2.7 mg/g, tannin: 0.96% and 2 h pepsin digestion: 18%) were germinated for three days to obtain 1-, 2- and 3- days old sorghum malts. Sorghum malt was added in concentrations of 1, 2.5, 5, 7.5 or 10% to sorghum flour. The mixtures were incubated with shaking for 0, 30, 60, 90 or 120 min. Phytic acid and in vitro protein digestibility were assayed for all treatments. The results revealed that phytate content was significantly reduced. The 10% 3-day-old malt after 120 min incubation, reduced the phytate content by 83%. The in vitro protein digestibility (IVPD) was significantly improved as a result of malt pretreatment. The rate of reduction of phytate content and the rate of increment in IVPD increased with time of incubation, age and concentration of the malt.  相似文献

For the period September 1984 to November 1985 water samples from the aquatic system of Ioannina basin were analyzed every second month for organochlorine and triazines pesticides. The detected compounds were found to follow a seasonal pattern, with an increment during summer followed by a decrease during winter and an increase again during late spring. This pattern was apparent for Ioannina lake as well as for the Kalamas river connected to it through the Lapsista's canal and tunnel. The results are discussed in terms of the amounts of the detected pesticides used for farming in the vicinity of the Ioannina basin and the seasonal rainfall.  相似文献

The catalytic activity of the histone deacetylase (HDAC) is directly relevant to the pathogenesis of cancer, and HDAC inhibitors represented a promising strategy for cancer therapy. SAHA (suberoanilide hydroxamic acid), an effective HDAC inhibitor, is an anti-cancer agent against T-cell lymphoma. However, SAHA has adverse effects such as poor pharmacokinetic properties and severe toxicities in clinical use. In order to identify better HDAC inhibitors, a compound database was established by core hopping of SAHA, which was then docked into HDAC-8 (PDB ID: 1T69) active site to select a number of candidates with higher docking score and better interaction with catalytic zinc ion. Further ADMET prediction was done to give ten compounds. Molecular dynamics simulation of the representative compound 101 was performed to study the stability of HDAC8-inhibitor system. This work provided an approach to design novel high-efficiency HDAC inhibitors with better ADMET properties.  相似文献
