A ring-on-ring (ROR) test is a prevailing test method for evaluating the equi-biaxial strength of glass materials. However, current ROR test standards limit the strength and size of glass to prevent a nonlinear behavior. In this study, the feasibility of ROR testing for non-standard, high-strength glass, such as tempered or ion-exchanged rectangular glass is investigated. To this end, ROR simulation based on theory and experiment is conducted for thirty non-standard glasses with widths of 100–300 mm and aspect ratios of 1.0–2.0. As a result, the maximum measurable stress was about 215.6 MPa for 100 × 200 mm glass and 481.3 MPa for 300 × 600 mm glass with a 3% deviation, which is well above the strength of regular tempered glass. The main purpose of this work is to understand the range of aspect ratio of horizontal and vertical widths of a glass plate that can be evaluated by the standard ROR test.  相似文献

The low shear rate rheology of two phase mesophase pitches derived from coal tar pitch has been investigated. Particulate quinoline insolubles (QI) stabilised the mesophase spheres against coalescence. Viscosity measurements over the range 10–106 Pa s were made at appropriate temperature ranges. Increasing shear thinning behaviour was evident with increasing mesophase content. At low mesophase contents the dominant effect on the near Newtonian viscosity was temperature but at higher contents it was the shear rate; temperature dependence declined to near zero. The data indicated that agglomeration could be occurring at intermediate mesophase volume fractions, 0.2–0.3. The Krieger–Dougherty function and its emulsion analogue indicated that in this region the mesophase pitch emulsions actually behaved like ‘hard’ sphere systems and the effective volume fraction was estimated as a function of shear rate illustrating the change in extent of agglomeration. At the higher volume fractions approaching the maximum packing fraction, which could only be measured at higher temperatures, the shear thinning behaviour changed in character and it is considered that this is possibly due to shear induced deformation and breakup of dispersed drops in the shear field.  相似文献

The Er3+ doped oxyfluorogermanate glasses, with a composition containing Na element, were synthesized by the conventional melting–quenching technique. When Na element was introduced into the composition of oxyfluorogermanate glass, the crystals behavior was investigated in details. Depending on the annealing procedure supplied, thermal annealing of precursor glasses in the system GeO2/BaF2/AlF3/Na2O/NaF/ZnO/GdF3/ErF3 led to the precipitation of different crystal phase nanocrystals. It was confirmed the nanocrystals in GC600 is orthorhombic NaBaAlF6 which led to enhance obviously in the UC luminescence of Er3+. However, the nanocrystals in G585 led to decrease in the UC luminescence, which indicated few Er ions enter into the lattice of this nanocrystal phase. The reason of the decrease in UC emission intensity of GC585 was analyzed.  相似文献

In this study, two dimensional (2D) and quasi three-dimensional (quasi-3D) shear deformation theories are presented for static and free vibration analysis of single-layer functionally graded (FG) plates using a new hyperbolic shape function. The material of the plate is inhomogeneous and the material properties assumed to vary continuously in the thickness direction by three different distributions; power-law, exponential and Mori–Tanaka model, in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The fundamental governing equations which take into account the effects of both transverse shear and normal stresses are derived through the Hamilton's principle. The closed form solutions are obtained by using Navier technique and then fundamental frequencies are found by solving the results of eigenvalue problems. In-plane stress components have been obtained by the constitutive equations of composite plates. The transverse stress components have been obtained by integrating the three-dimensional stress equilibrium equations in the thickness direction of the plate. The accuracy of the present method is demonstrated by comparisons with the different 2D, 3D and quasi-3D solutions available in the literature.  相似文献

We report a simple route to synthesize iron carbide/carbon yolk–shell composite via a facile two-step process including polymerization of pyrrole using Fe3O4 as a sacrificial template to form a Fe3O4/polypyrrole composite, followed by annealing at high temperature in N2 atmosphere. The yolk–shell composite, with iron carbide (Fe2.5C) embedded in nitrogen-doped carbon layers, shows impressively high catalytic activity and stability for oxygen reduction reaction in alkaline solution. Both the pyridinic-N and graphic-N in the shell of Fe3O4–PPy-700, together with the Fe2.5C confined in carbon layers are believed to be the active sites for the ORR.  相似文献

Rip currents near coastal structures commonly occur in Lake Michigan in the Great Lakes region of the United States. Lack of timely warning due to undocumented characteristics of rip currents and no assessment tool can contribute to tragic drownings incidents. In this paper, we characterized rip current occurrences near breakwater structures and developed an assessment tool for providing timely rip current warnings to beachgoers at the study site, City of Port Washington, WI. Characteristics of rip currents near the structure were observed from field measurements or visual images. Deflection rip currents had speeds of ~ 0.2 m/s and lasted for several hours. The rip current occurrences were associated with environmental proxies. It was found that rip currents can occur even when the water appears calm near the structure. A Structure Rip Checklist and Assessment Matrix (SRiCAM) with a four-tiered risk was developed and validated using observations. Furthermore, the SRiCAM was integrated into cyberinfrastructure with a data contingency plan to provide real-time warnings to the public. The applicability of the SRiCAM to other locations across Lake Michigan was further tested and results are promising. Overall, the SRiCAM has the potential to be widely extended to foster recreational water safety and resilience to rip current hazards in the Great Lakes.  相似文献

This study aims to assess the degree of HACCP implementation in small business butcher shops and understand which factors most influence butchers' intention to fully implement it, through the application of the Theory of Planned Behaviour. One hundred and one butchers managing or owning small butcher's responded to the interview regarding their Attitudes, Subjective Norm, Perceived Behavioural Control, Personal Norm, and Knowledge with regard to their Intention to fully implement a HACCP system in their shops. Before the interviews, a certified veterinarian visited all the shops. Visits included an inspection of the establishments using the Official Portuguese Control Plan checklist for meat retailers. Conformance level measured past performance regarding food safety practices. Based on past performance, butchers were divided into “high performers” and “low performers”. “High performers” yielded high values of Attitude and Intention towards the Behaviour. For these, Attitude and Personal Norm emerge as predictors of the Intention to fully implement a HACCP system. For “low performers”, Personal Norm was the strongest predictor of Intention, with results pointing to the need for an intervention from the authorities to promote increased conformance to food safety practices. For both groups, neither Social Norm nor Perceived Behavioural Control acted as significant predictors of Intention.  相似文献

Cellulose supported copper-nanoparticles is a versatile catalyst for the protodecarboxylation of aromatic and vinylic carboxylic acids to corresponding arenes and alkenes without using base or ligand is disclosed. The same nanoparticles catalyze the oxidative decarboxylation of phenylacetic acids to aromatic aldehydes in oxygen atmosphere and protodecarboxylation of phenylacetic acid to alkyl benzene in the absence of O2 atmosphere. Decarboxylation reactions were performed in acetonitrile or water solvent under microwave heating. The conditions are mild enough to tolerate a wide range of different functional groups. The catalyst gives high yield and it is reusable up to four times, and hence green.  相似文献

The development is presented of a model of the thermodynamic functions of enthalpy, entropy and Gibbs energy for the elements carbon and hydrogen in coke crystallites. It is applicable to varying degrees of graphitization, described by the crystallite length La and the crystallite height Lc. The model parameters are derived from known properties such as bond enthalpies and entropies of formation. Good agreement has been obtained between the predicted thermal dehydrogenation of petroleum cokes and experimental data. The removal of hydrogen from idealized coke crystallites is predicted to occur mostly between 1100 and 1300 K. Agreement has also been found in the comparison of the predicted thermodynamic stability of coke relative to graphite, in a previous experimental study. This stability has been determined as at ≈900 J g−1 at temperatures between 950 and 1250 K and for La = 10 nm. The current predictive capacity of the present model is valid for temperatures up to 2500 K.  相似文献
