Spray forming involves sequential gas atomization of a melt into a spray of fine droplets and their deposition on a substrate
to build up a high-density preform. The rapid solidification inherent in spray deposition generates refined, equiaxed and
low segregation microstructures. A number of promising features of this near-net shape manufacturing process are highlighted
and compared, wherever possible, with the conventional casting and PM techniques. Some commercial nozzles used to create spray
and mechanisms associated with spray generation are described. The consolidation of the droplets and the development of the
microstructure in the deposit are primarily governed by the nature of the spray and the thermal state of droplets on the deposition
surface. Several microstructural characteristics of the deposit are presented and their origin in spray deposition is discussed. 相似文献

Thermal history and solute precipitation behavior of suspended solution droplets of sodium chloride (NaCl), magnesium sulphate (MgSO4), and zirconium hydroxychloride (ZrO(OH)Cl) evaporating at atmospheric and reduced pressures are studied. Experimental measurements on the variation of droplet diameter, solution concentration, and temperature during the evaporation period are presented and discussed. The results of solute precipitation behavior in solution droplets observed under an optical microscope are displayed and discussed. Results indicate that reducing the pressure (∼ 33 kPa) results in a change in the solution droplet evaporation rate, but the thermal histories of a particular solution droplet are similar at the atmospheric and reduced pressures. At atmospheric and reduced pressures used in this study, the d2 law for solution droplets is valid at early stages of the evaporation and before the solute precipitation initiates. Drying of MgSO4 and ZrO(OH)Cl solution droplets results in the formation of spherical particles, whereas drying of spherical NaCl solution droplets results in the formation of cubic particles. 相似文献

This article reviews developments in the simulations of spray dryer behavior, including the challenges in modeling the complex flow patterns inside the equipment, which are often highly transient and three-dimensional in nature. There appears to be considerable scope for using CFD simulations for investigating methods to reduce the rates of wall deposition and of thermal degradation for particles by modifying the air flow patterns in the chamber through small changes in the air inlet geometry. Challenges include building particle drying kinetics and reaction processes, as well as agglomeration behavior, into these simulations. The numerical simulations should be valuable supplements to pilot-scale testing, enabling more extensive and accurate optimization to be carried out than hitherto possible. New understanding of reaction processes and materials science, in combination with recent knowledge of the application of CFD to these problems, may enable new engineered powder products to be developed from the one-step spray-drying process. 相似文献

The aim of this work was to determine specifications for spray-drying manufacturing of sustained-release drug-loaded microparticles with potential application in dentistry. Chitosan was used as the microencapsulation polymer and ketoprofen as the model drug. A 1:1 chitosan/ketoprofen suspension was spray-dried under different operating conditions. The size distribution, morphology, total drug load, and release profile of the powders were characterized. In vitro release studies were performed with the powder samples entrapped in cellulose dialysis tubes. The microparticles produced had a narrow size distribution (mean diameter ranging from 2.11 to 3.27 µm), good sphericity, and a smooth surface. A contact probe test was developed to characterize the surface stickiness of a tomato pulp droplet at various moisture contents and temperatures. To provide tomato pulp samples with different moisture contents, tomato powder produced by a laboratory spray dryer was wetted to seven different moisture levels. The instantaneous tensile force curve was recorded during the probe withdrawal from which the maximum tensile force and other useful information were obtained and cross-examined against images of bonding, debonding, and failure of the material. Generally, at higher moisture contents tomato pulp exhibited cohesive failure followed by semi-adhesive failure, but when moisture content decreased to a certain level, a peak tensile pressure was observed and the failure was adhesive. In addition, higher temperatures shifted the points of adhesive failure toward lower moisture content. 相似文献

This work describes how probiotic bacteria can be dried at low temperature in two steps, combining spray drying and vacuum drying, in order to enhance their survival during storage. A sufficient number of dried probiotics survived storage for more than 3 months at 30°C, if an appropriate combination of protein and carbohydrate was selected as carrier and storage conditions were maintained optimal. The use of soy protein and maltodextrin or skim milk and arabic gum resulted in the best survival rates of probiotics during storage. 为解决前两代伞状喷雾在高背压下贯穿距不足的问题,借鉴碰撞喷雾方式,提出了第三代伞状喷雾概念。通过高速摄影对喷雾的分布特性进行了研究,结果表明:喷雾具有贯穿距可设定、扩散度高、空间分布均匀等特点。为避免碰撞后二次油束雾线相互干涉,又提出了一种多片喷雾概念,并在单缸四气门135柴油机上对多片喷雾燃烧系统进行了初步的性能试验,结果显示:系统能够有效地促进缸内均质混合气的形成;在供油提前角为19°CA时,全负荷范围内柴油机的油耗和碳烟排放均较低。 相似文献
