Polish architecture tutors and critics Roman Rutkowski and Lukasz Wojciechowski identify a new kind of architecture in [ecosistema urbano]'s ingenious temporary tower pavilions for a sterile new housing estate in Madrid. Contributing power to the local electricity grid, these towers are explicitly designed to provide shelter from the unmediated heat of the harsh external environment through their cooling effect and in so doing to stimulate communal activities and events. Material behaviour computes form. In the physical world, material form is always inseparably connected to internal constraints and external forces; in the virtual space of digital design, though, form and force are usually treated as separate entities – divided into processes of geometric form generation and subsequent engineering simulation. 从乾隆朝清漪园到光绪朝颐和园的变迁过程中,万寿山东麓景福阁所在位置上曾出现过2座风格迥异的建筑——六角星形三重檐的昙花阁与单层三卷歇山顶的景福阁,以及一个未实施的单层六角星形的设计方案.在实地调研的基础上,梳理分析焚毁前的一张历史照片和重修时期相关样式雷图档,对三者的造型、空间功能和题名进行比较分析,阐述它们之间在园林文化和艺术创作上的差异,揭示了颐和园造园艺术风格的转变,说明了这一转变与历史盛衰、文化观念以及功能需求之间的必然联系.  相似文献

Why should computation be leading to a bifurcation in architectural detailing, resulting in a simultaneous, and opposing, tendency towards either greater precision in fabrication or increasing plasticity? Architectural designer and theorist Peter Macapia asks what is driving these propensities in computation, and what in turn historically might be the relation between the detail and force. What comes into play now, though, when architectural style is no longer identified by a taxonomy of parts, or a vocabulary of orders, but rather by a network of forces and functions correlating actions? The Advanced Geometry Unit (AGU) at Arup, founded by Cecil Balmond and Charles Walker, has become synonymous with a highly mathematical, topological approach to architecture. It has, however, collaborated on some of the most exciting experimental fabric structures of recent years, including Anish Kapoor's Marsyas at Tate Modern and Rem Koolhaas's Cosmic Egg at the Serpentine Gallery.
