The Toyota production system (TPS), or lean production, has been associated with many benefits for manufacturing firms that implement the system. However, to implement the TPS successfully, it is necessary to integrate the so‐called “hard side” of the system (that is, the technical aspects of material handling) with the “soft side” of the program (that is, the aspects associated with human factors). The present study makes a contribution to such a holistic view of the TPS by proposing an integrated model that consists of the technical aspects of the TPS, together with elements associated with total quality management (TQM), human resources management (HRM), and certain identified “people factors.” The study then uses structural equation modeling (SEM) to test this holistic model using data obtained from a questionnaire survey of 153 Taiwanese manufacturing firms. The empirical study confirms the appropriateness of the causal model, which is evaluated by several goodness‐of‐fit methods. The study confirms the proposition that the inclusion of the “people factors” together with TQM and HRM significantly improves the realization of benefits associated with the TPS practices of “just‐in‐time” (JIT) and “autonomation.” The conclusion is that such an integrated model provides a much more effective “lean system” and has the potential to produce significantly enhanced benefits for firms that implement it. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

This paper considers single-machine scheduling problems with deteriorating jobs, i.e., jobs whose processing times are an increasing function of their starting times. In addition, the jobs are related by a series–parallel graph. It is shown that for the general linear problem to minimize the makespan, polynomial algorithms exist. It is also shown that for the proportional linear problem of minimization of the total weighted completion time, polynomial algorithms exist, too.  相似文献

Harmonic elimination problem in PWM inverter is treated as an optimization problem and solved using particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique. The derived equation for computation of total harmonic distortion (THD) of the output voltage of PWM inverter is used as the objective function in the PSO algorithm. The objective function is minimized to contribute the minimum THD in the voltage waveform and the corresponding switching angles are computed. The method is applied to investigate the switching patterns of both unipolar and bipolar case. While minimizing the objective function, the individual selected harmonics like 5th, 7th, 11th and 13th can be controlled within the allowable limits by incorporating the constraints in the PSO algorithm. The results of the unipolar case using five switching angles are compared with that of a recently reported work and it is observed that the proposed method is effective in reducing the voltage THD in a wide range of modulation index. The simulated results are also validated through suitable experiments.  相似文献

This paper presents a detection scheme for analyzing the temperature distribution nearby the channel wall in a microfluidic chip utilizing a temperature-dependent fluorescence dye. An advanced optical microscope system—total internal reflection fluorescence microscope (TIRFM) is used for measuring the temperature distribution on the channel wall at the point of electroosmotic flow in an electrokinetically driven microfluidic chip. In order to meet the short working distance of the objective type TIRFM scheme, microscope cover glass slits are used to fabricate the microfluidic chips. The short fluorescence excitation depth from a TIRFM system makes the intensity information obtained using TIRFM is not sensitive to the channel depth variation which ususally biases the measured results while using a conventional Epi-fluorescence microscope (EPI-FM). Therefore, a TIRFM can precisely describe the temperature profile of the distance within 100 nm of the channel wall where consists of the Stern layer and the diffusion layer for an electrokinetic microfluidic system. Results indicate the proposed TIRFM provides higher measurement sensitivity over the EPI-FM. Significant temperature gradient along the channel depth is experimentally observed. In addition, the measured wall temperature distributions can be the boundary conditions for numerical investigation into the joule heating effect. The proposed method gives a precise temperature profile of microfluidic channels and shows the substantial impact on developing a numerical simulation model for precisely predicting the joule heating effect in microfluidic chips.  相似文献

We prove their termination by elementary interpretations, more specifically, by functions defined by addition, multiplication and exponentiation. As an important part of water level warning in water conservancy projects, often due to the influence of en-vironmental factors such as light and stains, the acquired water gauge images have sticky, broken and bright spot conditions, which affect the identification of water gauges. To solve this problem, a water gauge image denoising model based on improved adaptive total variation is proposed. Firstly, the regular term exponent in the adaptive total variational equation is changed to an inverse cosine function; secondly, the differential curvature is used to distinguish the image noise points and increase the smoothing strength at the noise points; finally, according to the characteristics of the gradient mode and adaptive gradient threshold after Gaussian filtering, the New model can adaptively denoise in the smooth area and protect the edge area, so as to have the characteristics of both edge-preserving denoising. The experimental results show that the new model has a great improvement in image vision, higher iteration efficiency and an average increase of 1.6 dB in peak signal-to-noise ratio, and an average increase of 9% in structural similarity, which is more beneficial to practical applications.  相似文献
