Abstract— For the rubbing process, there have been several problems, especially scratching, disclination, and light leakage that increases the black luminance of a panel because the alignment of the liquid crystals might not be uniform due to a fluctuation in the fine‐rubbing direction. To investigate the basic causes of these problems, several experiments concerning the characteristics of the rubbing cloth and the pattern structures on an LCD substrate were carried out. A new mechanism regarding the interaction between the rotation of filaments on the rubbing cloth and the structure of patterns on the IPS‐LCD substrate is proposed. There is a correlation between the filament's rubbing direction and the pattern angle of the substrate. A new rubbing method based on two types of rubbing cloths were introduced to improve the rubbing density. As a result, it was determined that the black luminance was relatively reduced by using this method compared with that of conventional rubbing processes. 相似文献

A coloured filter is a critical part of an LCD panel, especially to present a high quality colour display. At present, the defect detection of colour filters is conducted by manual inspection in the final product stage. However, poor detection efficiency and subjective judgment of manual inspection undermine accuracy. Therefore, this study applied image processing technology and the neural network to detect surface defects of colour filters in order to prevent losses arising from incorrect detection, lower production costs, and effectively improve yield. A back-propagation neural network (BPNN) classifier was selected to train the features. The results showed that the proposed method can be successfully applied in defect detection of colour filters to reduce artificial detection errors. In addition, the Taguchi method was used with BPNN to save time searching optimal learning parameters by the trial and error method, which achieves faster convergence, smaller convergent errors and better recognition rate. The results proved that the root-mean-square error (RMSE) of the Taguchi-based BPNN at final convergence is 0.000254, and recognition rate reaches 94%. Therefore, the proposed method has good effects in detecting the micro defects of a colour filter panel. 相似文献

We investigate the impact of technological capability on firm market share using technology investment data in the global thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal-display panel industry from 1999 to 2007. The Arellano–Bond estimation of the dynamic panel model indicates that prior technological capability is positively correlated with current market share. The magnitude of this effect appears economically substantial: an improvement of technological capability by one standard deviation implied a permanent increase of 2.6 percent-point in quarterly market share, a return tantamount to $470 million in 2007 sales. The Granger test reveals that technological capability helps to predict future market share, but that the inverse is not true. 相似文献
