Multi-agent systems play an increasing role in sensor networks, software engineering, web design, e-commerce, robotics, and
many others areas. Uncertainty is a fundamental property of these areas. Agent-based systems use probabilistic and other uncertainty
models developed earlier without explicit consideration of agents. This paper explores the impact of agents on uncertainty
models and theories. We compare two methods of introducing agents to uncertainty theories and propose a new theory called
the agent-based uncertainty theory (AUT). We show advantages of AUT for advancing multi-agent systems and for solving an internal
fundamental question of uncertainty theories, that is identifying coherent approaches to uncertainty. The advantages of AUT
are that it provides a uniform agent-based representation and an operational empirical interpretation for several uncertainty
theories such as rough set theory, fuzzy sets theory, evidence theory, and probability theory. We show also that the introduction
of agents to intuitionist uncertainty formalisms can reduce their conceptual complexity. To build such uniformity the AUT
exploits the fact that agents as independent entities can give conflicting evaluations of the same attribute. The AUT is based
on complex aggregations of crisp (non-fuzzy) conflicting judgments of agents. The generality of AUT is derived from the logical
classification of types (orders) of conflicts in the agent populations. At the first order of conflict, the two agent populations
are disjoint and there is no interference of logic values assigned to any statement p and its negation by agents. The second order of conflict models superposition (interference) of logic values for overlapping
agent populations where an agent assigns conflicting logic values (true, false) to the same attribute simultaneously.

Differentiating types of muscle movements using a wavelet based fuzzy clustering neural network 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
Abstract: The electromyographic signals observed at the surface of the skin are the sum of many small action potentials generated in the muscle fibres. After the signals are processed, they can be used as a control source of multifunction prostheses. The myoelectric signals are represented by wavelet transform model parameters. For this purpose, four different arm movements (elbow extension, elbow flexion, wrist supination and wrist pronation) are considered in studying muscle contraction. Wavelet parameters of myoelectric signals received from the muscles for these different movements were used as features to classify the electromyographic signals in a fuzzy clustering neural network classifier model. After 1000 iterations, the average recognition percentage of the test was found to be 97.67% with clustering into 10 features. This paper focuses on adaptive fuzzy tracking control for a class of uncertain single-input /single-output nonlinear strict-feedback systems. Fuzzy logic systems are directly used to approximate unknown and desired control signals and a novel direct adaptive fuzzy tracking controller is constructed via backstepping. The proposed adaptive fuzzy controller guarantees that the output of the closed-loop system converges to a small neighborhood of the reference signal and all the signals in the closed-loop system remain bounded. A main advantage of the proposed controller is that it contains only one adaptive parameter that needs to be updated online. We describe a tracking controller for the dynamic model of a unicycle mobile robot by integrating a kinematic and a torque controller based on type-2 fuzzy logic theory and genetic algorithms. This paper focuses on recently advanced fuzzy models and the application of type-2 fuzzy sets in video deinterlacing. The final goal of the proposed deinterlacing algorithm is to exactly determine an unknown pixel value while preserving the edges and details of the image. To begin, we will discuss some artefacts of spatial, temporal, and spatio-temporal domain deinterlacing methods. In order to address the aforementioned issues, we adopted type-2 fuzzy sets concepts to design a weight evaluating approach. In the proposed method, the upper and lower fuzzy membership functions of the type-2 fuzzy logic filters are derived from the type-1 (or primary) fuzzy membership function. The weights from upper and lower membership functions are considered to be multiplied with the candidate deinterlaced pixels. Experimental results proved that the performance of the proposed method was superior, both objectively and subjectively to other different conventional deinterlacing methods.
