The quantity, extraction efficiency, and molecular composition of non-volatile oligomeric species in SOA generated by the reaction of α-pinene with ozone were studied. Two different methods of determining the total particulate mass in the reaction chamber were compared and found to be in good agreement when changes in the partitioning of semi-volatile compounds to the particle phase during measurement were properly handled. Almost all of the non-volatile organic carbon formed by the reaction was collected and recovered by extraction with organic solvents; recoveries with water extraction were somewhat lower. The identities of compounds extracted by the various solvents were determined using electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (ESI-FTICR) mass spectrometry. Over 80% of the peaks weighted by mass and intensity were the same in the spectra of samples obtained from different extraction solvents. Standard addition plots were used to determine the amounts of two commercially available monomer compounds in the SOA extracts. When the response factors for those compounds were applied to other monomers detected in the mass spectra, the weight percent of monomers was estimated to be slightly less than 50%, with the remaining mass (over 50%) assigned to oligomers. The oligomer content is sufficiently large that it should be taken into account when modeling the formation and properties of laboratory SOA.  相似文献

New data for both the dry-state and the moisture content-dependent thermal conductivity of cement-stabilised rammed earth (SRE) materials is presented. For highly compacted SRE materials, no correlation was found between thermal conductivity and dry density or void ratio. The thermal conductivity of SRE materials increases linearly with the saturation ratio, Sr of the material and can be expressed as λ1, the moisture content-dependent thermal conductivity. The sensitivity of λ1 to an increase in the saturation ratio of SRE materials varies according to soil grading. The influence of grading parameters on λ1 can cause material variations of approximately 0.8 m2 K/W. The experimental data has been applied to standard SRE wall design configurations and the effect of wall moisture content on the total thermal resistance has been shown. The R-value of an SRE wall irrespective of cavity insulation can vary by as much as 0.13 m2 K/W.  相似文献

This paper studies the effects of the number and location of solid obstacles on the rate of propagation of turbulent premixed flames. A vented explosion chamber is constructed where controlled premixed flames are ignited from rest to propagate past grids or baffles plates as well as other solid obstacles strategically positioned in the chamber. Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) is used to image OH which is used as an indicator of the reaction zone while pressure transducers are used to obtain pressure-time traces. Single grids or baffle plates located at different distances from the ignition source are tested. Two as well as three baffle plates are also investigated in varying configurations. It is found that while the peak overpressure increases with increasing number of grids or baffle plates, a limit is reached where the pressure starts to decrease. The location of the obstacles is found to have a significant effect on the overpressure and the flame structure. Higher overpressures are obtained when the baffle plates and obstacles are stacked closer together hence not allowing turbulence to decay. LIF images for OH show that the reaction zones become more contorted with increasing number of baffle plates in the flame path.  相似文献

Two platelet aggregation inhibitors, ussuristatin 1 (US-1) and 2 (US-2), were newly isolated from the venom of Chinese viper (Agkistrodon ussuriensis) by SP-Toyopearl 650M column chromatography and reverse-phase HPLC. The Mrs of these polypeptides were estimated to be about 8,000 by SDS-PAGE. Analytical gel filtration revealed that US-2 exists as a dimer. Both polypeptides comprised 71 amino acids, whose sequences showed high similarities to those of other disintegrins. US-1 had a typical Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) sequence, which is responsible for blocking the binding of fibrinogen to the receptor. In US-2, the corresponding sequence was Lys-Gly-Asp (KGD). US-1 strongly suppressed platelet aggregation induced by ADP, collagen, thrombin, and epinephrine with IC50 = 17-33 nM. US-2 also inhibited the platelet aggregation, but the IC50s were about ten times higher. US-1 also dose-dependently inhibited the adhesion of human melanoma cells to fibrinogen and fibronectin, while US-2 did not inhibit the cell adhesion to fibronectin. This indicates that the KGD-bearing disintegrin is a specific inhibitor for the fibrinogen receptor.  相似文献

A coculture method is described for ensheathing glial cells from adult rat olfactory nerve, serving as a substrate for the regrowth of neurites from adult rat retinal ganglion cells. Immunocytochemically identified phenotypes present in primary cultures of olfactory nerve cells are described, and their ability to promote neurite outgrowth is compared with neonatal astrocytes and Schwann cells, with other nonglial cells, and with laminin. Ensheathing cell cultures were more effective than any other substrate tested and also directed the orientation of regrowing neurites. In comparison with cultured Schwann cells, which released neurotrophic factors into the culture medium, there was no evidence of a similar activity in ensheathing cell cultures. Combinations of ensheathing cell-conditioned medium and substrates of laminin, merosin, or 3T3 cells also failed to show the release of factors enhancing either survival or neurite outgrowth from retinal ganglion cells. Evidence is presented for a partial inhibition of neurite outgrowth in the presence of calcium channel antagonists or an intracellular calcium-chelating reagent. This provides evidence for a contribution from an intracellular calcium signaling mechanism, possibly implicating ensheathing cell adhesion molecules in promoting neurite outgrowth.  相似文献

The paper describes some water-treatment processes which have been investigated on a laboratory and pilot-plant scale for their effectiveness in removing toxic algal cells and the dissolved toxins microcystin-LR and anatoxin-a. Oxidation with ozone or potassium permanganate, or treatment by biological activated carbon, were found to be the most effective processes for removal of the dissolved toxins. Chlorination was effective only for the removal of microcystin-LR. Toxins, contained within algal cells, could be removed effectively by coagulation, clarification and filtration under suitable conditions. Consideration of the structure and properties of micro-cystin variants suggests that treatments which are suitable for removal of microcystin-LR and anatoxin-a should be suitable for removal of other microcystins.  相似文献

Experimental designs developed to address mixtures are suited ideally to many areas of experimental biology, including pheromone blend studies, because such designs address the confounding of proportionality and concentration intrinsic to factorial and one-factor-at-a-time designs. Geometric multivariate designs coupled with response surface modeling allowed us to identify optimal blends of a two-component pheromone for attraction and trap disruption of the leafminer moth, Phyllocnistis citrella, a major pest in citrus growing areas around the world. Field trials confirmed that the natural 3:1 blend of (Z,Z,E)-7,11,13-hexadecatrienal:(Z,Z)-7,11-hexadecadienal was most effective as an attractant for male moths. However, the response surface generated in mating orientation trials revealed that the triene component alone was more effective than the natural blend in disrupting trap catch. Each individual component was effective at disrupting orientation in field trials, but (Z,Z,E)-7,11,13-hexadecatrienal was approximately 13 times more effective, at the same concentration, compared with (Z,Z)-7,11-hexadecadienal alone. In addition, the application of geometric design and response surface modeling to field studies provided insight into a possible mechanism of mating disruption and supported sensory imbalance as the operating mechanism for this species.  相似文献
