This paper describes research currently being carried out in the area of information management architectures for flexible manufacturing systems (FMS). This work originates from the idea that process control may be achieved by machines as in the standard approach but also by all the products carrying their own information. So, distribution of the information system onto each individual product requires tools and methods to manage and to provide access to product information for both automated systems and human operators. Automatic identification technologies using electronic data carriers can provide such functions and act as product information vectors. Our approach is based on the STEP technology to define computer-aided tools for data acquisition and management of product-related information implemented on mobile database nodes circulating in a CIM environment. 相似文献

An advanced geometric modeler GEMS4.0 has been developed,in which feature representation is used at the highest level abstraction of a product model.Boundary representation is used at the bottom level,while CSG model is adopted at the median level.A BRep data structure capable of modeling non-manifold is adopted.UNRBS representation is used for all curved surfaces,Quadric surfaces have dual representations consisting of their geometric data such as radius,center point,and center axis.Boundary representation of free form surfaces is easily built by sweeping and skinning method with NURBS geometry.Set operations on curved solids with boundary representation are performed by an evaluation process consisting of four steps.A file exchange facility is provided for the conversion between product data described by STEP and product information generated by GEMS4.0. 相似文献

Variant design refers, to the technique of adapting existing design specifications to satisfy new design goals and constraints. Specific support of variant design techniques in current computer aided design systems would help to realize a rapid response manufacturing environment. A survey of approaches supporting variant design is presented. Capabilities used in current commercial computer aided design systems are discussed along with approaches used in recent research efforts. Information standards applicable to variant design are also identified.
