Arterial smooth muscle exhibits rhythmic oscillatory contractions called vasomotion and believed to be a protective mechanism against tissue hypoperfusion or hypoxia. Oscillations of vascular tone depend on voltage and follow oscillations of the membrane potential. Voltage-gated sodium channels (Nav), responsible for the initiation and propagation of action potentials in excitable cells, have also been evidenced both in animal and human vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs). For example, they contribute to arterial contraction in rats, but their physiopathological relevance has not been established in human vessels. In the present study, we investigated the functional role of Nav in the human artery. Experiments were performed on human uterine arteries obtained after hysterectomy and on SMCs dissociated from these arteries. In SMCs, we recorded a tetrodotoxin (TTX)-sensitive and fast inactivating voltage-dependent INa current. Various Nav genes, encoding α-subunit isoforms sensitive (Nav 1.2; 1.3; 1.7) and resistant (Nav 1.5) to TTX, were detected both in arterial tissue and in SMCs. Nav channels immunostaining showed uniform distribution in SMCs and endothelial cells. On arterial tissue, we recorded variations of isometric tension, ex vivo, in response to various agonists and antagonists. In arterial rings placed under hypoxic conditions, the depolarizing agent KCl and veratridine, a specific Nav channels agonist, both induced a sustained contraction overlaid with rhythmic oscillations of tension. After suppression of sympathetic control either by blocking the release of catecholamine or by antagonizing the target adrenergic response, rhythmic activity persisted while the sustained contraction was abolished. This rhythmic activity of the arteries was suppressed by TTX but, in contrast, only attenuated by antagonists of calcium channels, Na+/Ca2+ exchanger, Na+/K+-ATPase and the cardiac Nav channel. These results highlight the role of Nav as a novel key element in the vasomotion of human arteries. Hypoxia promotes activation of Nav channels involved in the initiation of rhythmic oscillatory contractile activity.  相似文献

The potential changes of single-use plastic materials (EVA/EVOH/EVA multilayer film in this study) used in biopharmaceutical and food-packaging industries are investigated after several gamma irradiation doses: 30, 50, 115, and 270 kGy, and for nonsterilized samples (0 kGy) from a point of view of mechanical properties, thermal properties and permeability properties. Tensile tests, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), oxygen transmission rate (OTR) and water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) are performed on the multilayer film. For irradiation doses below 50 kGy, thermal and water vapor barrier properties are not altered. For higher doses (50 to 270 kGy), mechanical, thermal and water vapor barrier properties are slightly altered whereas oxygen barrier property decreases from 13 to 27 cm3.m−2.day−1. This slight change is shown not to happen due to chain entanglement or chain mobility loss in the amorphous phase of the different polymers. It rather comes from a change of the chemical environment of the EVOH layer.  相似文献

The hypothesis that negative affectivity (NA) is associated with accuracy of blood glucose (BG) symptom perceptions and diabetes control was assessed. After completing measures of BG symptom beliefs and NA-related constructs (i.e., attentional focus and trait anxiety), 35 adolescents with insulin-dependent diabetes monitored their physical symptoms and their actual BG levels 3 times daily for 2 weeks. Each subject's actual BG symptoms were determined by correlating symptom ratings with BG levels and were then compared with symptom beliefs. Those who were more internally focused were more able to discern which symptoms actually covaried with BG fluctuations; those with higher trait anxiety tended to misattribute non-diabetes-related symptoms to BG levels. Finally, interactions suggested that those who both attend to internal physical sensations and experience-heightened anxiety display poorer metabolic control. The possibility of controlled droplet motion (droplet addressing) mediated by DC electric field in aqueous two-phase systems (ATPS) is here reported for the first time. Three ATPS of polyethylene glycol (PEG)/salt type, namely PEG/phosphate, PEG/sulphate, and PEG/carbonate, were selected for this study. We observed fast motion of salty droplets dispersed in PEG continuous phase induced by electric field of relative low strength. Hence, three fluidic systems with separated electrode chambers for the evaluation of electrophoretic mobilities and for addressing experiments were fabricated. Electrophoretic mobilities of salty droplets always exceeded the value of \(1\times 10^{-7}\, \hbox {m}^2\hbox {V}^{-1}\hbox {s}^{-1}\), which is about by one magnitude higher value than those typically measured in water–oil droplet systems. The electrophoretic mobilities in systems with free surface are the same or even smaller than in closed microfluidic structures, which is accounted mainly to the fact that a significant part of salty droplets is exposed to air and does not contribute to droplet forcing. Series of addressing and merging experiments in a microfluidic chip shows that DC electric field can be used as a powerful tool for smart manipulation of droplets in microfluidic systems with PEG/salt ATPS.  相似文献

The study deals with adsorption of Naphthol Green B on two unburned carbons and the parent coal,from which the UCs have been created in a fluidised-bed power station.Particular attention has been paid to the adsorption equilibrium modelling:experimental data has been analysed using 2-parameter(Langmuir,Freundlich) and3-parameter(Redlich-Peterson) isotherms — both linear and non-linear regressions have been used for the estimation of the isotherm parameters.In the case of both UCs,the Langmuir isotherm model provides the worst fit,whereas 2-parameter Freundlich and 3-parameter Redlich-Peterson models are both good,from which 3-parameter Redlich-Peterson isotherm provides slightly better results(despite the penalty used for the higher number of parameters).In the case of both UCs,the linear regression of Freundlich and Redlich-Peterson models provides good results(comparable with non-linear regressions).Unlike both UCs,the best fit of the experimental data from the adsorption on the coal has been achieved by the Langmuir isotherm model.The results based on the Freundlich or Redlich-Peterson model were(in this case) somewhat worse.  相似文献

Silica (SiO2) is widely used as sintering aid during vacuum sintering of YAG (Y3Al5O12)‐based transparent ceramics. These ceramics are mainly used for laser applications when they are doped with rare‐earth luminescent elements such as Yb3+ or Nd3+. By means of microstructural, chemical, dilatometry, and thermogravimetry analyses, this study has evidenced that sufficiently high amount of silica (ie above the solubility limit in YAG) forms intergranular transient liquid phase of mixed composition Y‐Al‐Si‐O that vaporizes rapidly for temperatures higher than 1350°C. As a result, silica content after sintering remains always lower than the solubility limit in YAG ceramics (ie lower than 900 ppm). Finally, vacuum sintering with an external source of gaseous Si was proven to be suitable to manufacture highly transparent Nd:YAG ceramics.  相似文献

Under a 16:8 hr light-dark photoperiod and 20C constant temperature, the titers of (Z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate (Z11–14:Ac), (E)-11-tetradecenyl acetate (E11–14:Ac) and (Z)-11-tetradecenol (Z11–14:OH) produced by different-agedChoristoneura rosaceana virgin females varied significantly during the scotophase, with the maximum titer occurring before the onset of calling in day-0 and day-3 females, while in day-5 females the titer remained constant throughout the calling period. There was a significant decrease in the titer of all pheromone components with age, explaining the lesser attractiveness of day-5 females relative to day-0 and day-3 females observed in the field. Under a cold thermocycle simulating condition during the second flight period in the fall, the titers of all pheromone components did not vary with time of day. There was a significant decrease in the amount ofZ11–14:Ac with age but no changes occurred in the minor components. Furthermore, for any given age tested, the amount of each component produced during the period of maximal calling activity remained relatively similar at the two temperature regimes. However, as with the expression of calling behavior, pheromone production was initiated earlier at cooler than at warmer temperatures. At both temperature regimes, female age and time of day influenced the ratio of each pheromone component. These results are discussed in relation to the hypothesis that by calling earlier, less attractive older females may increase their probability of mating.  相似文献

In this paper we continue the study of variants of P colonies, called APCol systems, where the environment is given as a string and the model is an accepting system. We develop the concept by introducing the notion of the generating working mode. We then compare the power of a special subclass of APCol systems working in the generating mode to the power of register machines and context-free matrix grammars without appearance checking.  相似文献
