In this paper an experimental and theoretical investigation of the forced vibration of a partially immersed fiber has been carried out. An optical method utilizing a forward light scattering pattern has been used to detect a small (<1.0 μm) vibration amplitude of the fiber. The physical and mathematical model of the partially immersed fiber vibration has been put forward. Based on an analytical solution of the model, natural frequencies of the partially immersed fiber vibration have been found; they are consecutive positive roots of the transcendental equation. An “effective” speed of the wave propagation over the fiber has been introduced, which allows one to find the physical meaning of normal modes of the partially immersed fiber vibration. Theoretical predictions agree well with experimental data. The sensor exhibits an excellent sensitivity and could be used for measuring physical properties of fluids and liquid level. 相似文献

To enable or allow for advanced manipulation scenarios in the envisaged future in robotic manipulation, the introduction of tactile or force-sensing technology is essential. This work introduces a study on a novel integration of fiber sensing elements inside the fingers of robotics grippers that allow obtaining accurate interaction forces during object manipulation. The study focuses on in-hand object motion and analyzes the objects’ dynamic behaviors during grasping or contact phases. The proposed approach classifies the behavior of the gripper-object interaction in real-time by looking at the measured forces in the orthogonal direction of the gripper’s fingers after a filtering stage. By multi-stage rod-in-tube fiber drawing process, a single-mode fluorotellurite glass fiber was fabricated and reported for the first time. Benefiting from chemical–physical dehydration process to remove water and OH− groups, the propagation loss was decreased to 1.9 dB/m at 1550 nm and the infrared window is extended from 2.8 μm to 4.2 μm, i.e. a new kind of mid-infrared glass fiber. Automated Tape Laying and Fiber Placement of composite materials are the two principal automated processes used for fabrication of large composite structures in aeronautical industry. The aluminum parts produced by High Speed Machining tend to be replaced by carbon fiber composite parts realized with these processes. However, structural parts present reinforcement zones which disturb the tool path follow-up and generate an increase of the manufacturing time. Thus, this paper deals with the optimization of tool paths of a 7-axis machine tool of Fiber Placement with the objective of reducing the manufacturing time while ensuring the requested quality of the final part. In this paper, two complementary methods are detailed. The first method takes advantage of the degree of redundancy of the machine tool to decrease the kinematic loads of the control joints. The second method aims to smooth the orientation of the machine head along the tool path while ensuring quality constraints.
