The use of GaAsSbN capping layers on InAs/GaAs quantum dots (QDs) has recently been proposed for micro- and optoelectronic applications for their ability to independently tailor electron and hole confinement potentials. However, there is a lack of knowledge about the structural and compositional changes associated with the process of simultaneous Sb and N incorporation. In the present work, we have characterized using transmission electron microscopy techniques the effects of adding N in the GaAsSb/InAs/GaAs QD system. Firstly, strain maps of the regions away from the InAs QDs had revealed a huge reduction of the strain fields with the N incorporation but a higher inhomogeneity, which points to a composition modulation enhancement with the presence of Sb-rich and Sb-poor regions in the range of a few nanometers. On the other hand, the average strain in the QDs and surroundings is also similar in both cases. It could be explained by the accumulation of Sb above the QDs, compensating the tensile strain induced by the N incorporation together with an In-Ga intermixing inhibition. Indeed, compositional maps of column resolution from aberration-corrected Z-contrast images confirmed that the addition of N enhances the preferential deposition of Sb above the InAs QD, giving rise to an undulation of the growth front. As an outcome, the strong redshift in the photoluminescence spectrum of the GaAsSbN sample cannot be attributed only to the N-related reduction of the conduction band offset but also to an enhancement of the effect of Sb on the QD band structure.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Efficient conversion of glucose/xylose mixtures from lignocellulose is necessary for commercially viable ethanol production. Oxygen and carbon sources are of paramount importance for ethanol yield. The aim of this work was to evaluate different glucose/xylose mixtures for ethanol production using S. cerevisiae ITV‐01 (wild type yeast) and P. stipitis NRRL Y‐7124 and the effect of supplying oxygen in separate and co‐culture processes. RESULTS: The complete conversion of a glucose/xylose mixture (75/30 g L?1) was obtained using P. stipitis NRRL Y‐7124 under aerobic conditions (0.6 vvm), the highest yield production being Yp/s = 0.46 g g?1, volumetric ethanol productivity Qpmax = 0.24 g L?1 h?1 and maximum ethanol concentration Pmax = 34.5 g L?1. In the co‐culture process and under aerobic conditions, incomplete conversion of glucose/xylose mixture was observed (20.4% residual xylose), with a maximum ethanol production of 30.3 g L?1, ethanol yield of 0.4 g g?1 and Qpmax = 1.26 g L?1 h?1. CONCLUSIONS: The oxygen present in the glucose/xylose mixture promotes complete sugar consumption by P. stipitis NRRL Y‐7124 resulting in ethanol production. However, in co‐culture with S. cerevisiae ITV‐01 under aerobic conditions, incomplete fermentation occurs that could be caused by oxygen limitation and ethanol inhibition by P. stipitis NRRL Y‐7124; nevertheless the volumetric ethanol productivity increases fivefold compared with separate culture. The present work is aimed at developing a bioactive, corrosion resistant and anti bacterial nanostructured silver substituted hydroxyapatite/titania (AgHA/TiO2) composite coating in a single step on commercially pure titanium (Cp Ti) by plasma electrolytic processing (PEP) technique. For this purpose 2.5 wt% silver substituted hydroxyapatite (AgHA) nanoparticles were prepared by microwave processing technique and were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) methods. The as-synthesized AgHA particles with particle length ranging from 60 to 70 nm and width ranging from 15 to 20 nm were used for the subsequent development of coating on Cp Ti. The PEP treated Cp Ti showed both titania and AgHA in its coating and exhibited an improved corrosion resistance in 7.4 pH simulated body fluid (SBF) and 4.5 pH osteoclast bioresorbable conditions compared to untreated Cp Ti. The in vitro bioactivity test conducted under Kokubo SBF conditions indicated an enhanced apatite forming ability of PEP treated Cp Ti surface compared to that of the untreated Cp Ti. The Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method or antibiotic sensitivity test conducted with the test organisms of Escherichia coli (E. coli) for 24 h showed a significant zone of inhibition for PEP treated Cp Ti compared to untreated Cp Ti.  相似文献

High‐quality texture minification techniques, including trilinear and anisotropic filtering, require texture data to be arranged into a collection of pre‐filtered texture maps called mipmaps. In this paper, we present a compression scheme for mipmapped textures which achieves much higher quality than current native schemes by exploiting image coherence across mipmap levels. The basic idea is to use a high‐quality native compressed format for the upper levels of the mipmap pyramid (to retain efficient minification filtering) together with a novel compact representation of the detail provided by the highest‐resolution mipmap. Key elements of our approach include delta‐encoding of the luminance signal, efficient encoding of coherent regions through texel runs following a Hilbert scan, a scheme for run encoding supporting fast random‐access, and a predictive approach for encoding indices of variable‐length blocks. We show that our scheme clearly outperforms native 6:1 compressed texture formats in terms of image quality while still providing real‐time rendering of trilinearly filtered textures.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Acetoin is a natural flavor commonly used in wine, buffer, honey, garnet berry and strawberry as a food additive. It also has been widely applied in cosmetics, pharmacy and chemical synthesis. Culture medium optimization and process control were carried out for efficient production of acetoin by a newly isoliated P. polymyxa CS107. RESULTS: An acetoin high producing strain, designated as CS107, was newly isolated and identified as P. polymyxa based on its physiological and biochemical characteristics as well as the 16S rDNA sequence. The medium composition was optimized in shake flask fermentations by a sequential statistical experimental design. Under the optimized conditions, acetoin concentration of 30.98 g L?1 was achieved with 71.83% of theoretical glucose conversion efficiency. Fed‐batch fermentation based on a suitable agitation speed was carried out in a 5 L jar, the maximum acetoin concentration of 55.3 g L?1 was obtained with the productivity of 1.32 g L?1 h?1 and the yield of 75.62%. CONCLUSION: A new strain for efficient production of acetoin, designated as P. polymyxa CS107, was obtained. The optimization of fermentation variables and fed‐batch culture resulted in a maximum acetoin concentration of 55.3 g L?1 in 5 L jar. Copyright © 2012 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

In this paper, the amorphous barium titanate precursor was prepared by the peroxo-hydroxide method and post-treated by various drying procedures, such as: room temperature drying, room temperature vacuum drying and vacuum drying at 50 °C. The objective in the latter two treatments was to increase the Ti-O-Ba bonds of the precursor. The post-treated precursors were compared with the untreated (i.e., ‘wet’) precursor. Also, a barium titanate precursor was prepared by an alkoxide route. Afterwards, the precursors were hydrothermally treated at 200 °C in a 10 M NaOH solution. Vacuum drying of the precursor seemingly promoted the formation of Ti-O-Ti bonds in the hydrothermal end-product. The low Ba:Ti ratio (0.66) of the alkoxide-route prepared precursor lead to a multi-phase hydrothermal product with BaTiO3 as the main phase. In contrast, phase pure BaTiO3, i.e. without BaCO3 contamination, was obtained for the precursor which was dried at room temperature. Cube-shaped and highly crystalline BaTiO3 particles were observed by electron microscopy for the hydrothermally treated peroxo-hydroxide-route prepared precursor.  相似文献

Observations were made of the errors made by eight air-traffic controllers over two periods each of 2½ hours. Errors were classified using a recently devised classification of motor-program errors (Reason 1979) and all the controllers were observed under three conditions of workload, and performing two ostensibly similar air-traffic tasks.

More errors were found with increasing workload, but only in one of the tasks This was interpreted in terms of the pacing and time stress inherently imposed in that task. The assessment of error incidence seems a good candidate as a non-intrusive measure of workload. Analysis of errors in terms of Reason's typology showed no interaction with any of the other variables.

The association of errors with the use of particular pieces of equipment demonstrated ergonomic deficiencies which may have otherwise remained unnoticed It seems that error auditing may also be a useful investigative technique in ergonomic assessment.  相似文献
