PurposeTo investigate the relationship between the real contact lens imprint into the conjunctival tissue, observed by optical coherence tomography (OCT) and conjunctival staining and contact lens wearing comfort.Methods17 participants (mean age = 26.6 SD ± 3.6 years; 7 females) were fitted with three different contact lenses base curves of the same silicone hydrogel custom lens type (Visell 50; Hecht Contactlinsen, Au, Germany) in a randomised order. One lens was optimally fitted according to the manufacturer's recommendation, one fitted 0.4 mm flatter and one fitted 0.4 mm steeper. After 4 h of lens wear the contact lens edge in the area of the conjunctiva was imaged nasally and temporally using OCT (Optovue iVue SD-OCT). To correct the artefact due to optical distortion with OCT, the imprint of all worn lenses was measured on a glass plate afterwards. Conjunctival staining in the limbal region after 4 h of lens wear was classified using the CCLRU Grading Scale. Comfort scoring was based on visual analog scales from 0 (very poor) to 100 (excellent).ResultsThe mean conjunctival imprint of all contact lens edges was 32.0 ± 8.1 μm before and 7.3 ± 6.5 μm after distortion correction of the OCT images. The distortion corrected conjunctival imprint with the 0.4 mm steeper lens (11.5 ± 6.2 μm) was statistically significantly greater compared to the optimally fitted lens (6.5 ± 5.9 μm) (One-way ANOVA followed Tukey-test; p = 0.017) and greater compared to the 0.4 mm flatter lens (3.9 ± 5.3 μm) (p < 0.001). There was no statistically significant difference between the optimally fitted lens and the 0.4 mm flatter lens (p = 0.209). The nasally measured imprint (11.4 ± 9.0 μm) was significantly greater than the temporally measured (3.3 ± 7.6 μm) (p < 0.001). There was no statistically significant correlation between the amount of conjunctival imprint and the graded conjunctival staining (p = 0.346) or the wearer’s comfort (p = 0.735).ConclusionsContact lens edges imaged by OCT exhibited displacement artefacts. The observed conjunctival imprints are a combination of real conjunctival compression and artefacts. A deeper imprint of the contact lens into the conjunctiva caused by a steeper base curve was not related to clinically significant staining or changes in comfort after 4 h of lens wear. The observed differences between nasal and temporal imprint are likely to be caused by variations of conjunctival thickness and the shape of the underlying sclera.  相似文献

Surface deformation study of a polymer film during plastic film blowing (PFB) extrusion process though is considered essential, is difficult to execute as the process is fast and continuous. Digital image correlation (DIC) is an optical technique that is non-destructive, highly accurate and designed to measure deformations from micro to macro scale. DIC can be proposed as a reliable tool to understand the relationship of polymer structure-processing-properties. In this literature, digital image correlation, its basic principle of operation and reliability guided DIC for continuous large deformation are comprehensively explored. Versatility of DIC, and the conditions that affect the measurement algorithm as well as preceding use of DIC in polymer processes are reviewed. The implementation and potential use of DIC in PFB are described.

为了避免露天金属矿爆破后导致爆堆边缘矿石品位贫化损失,需要根据最低品位阈值重新计算矿岩边界,而影响矿岩边界发生改变因素众多,需要确定主要影响因素。因此,利用爆堆爆破前地形方向和爆堆地质数据,构建灰色关联-广义回归神经网络模型(GRA-GRNN)分析爆堆矿岩边界变化主要影响因素。首先对爆堆钻孔品位数据使用析取克里金法进行空间插值,并根据矿山工艺最低品位阈值提取爆破前的矿岩边界;其次,将爆破前后的数字DEM模型进行求差,求得爆破后的爆堆数字DEM模型,并构建爆破前后爆堆数字DEM模型空间分布椭圆,从而确定爆堆爆破后的水平形变方向;对影响爆堆爆破后形变的可能因素进行提取,并应用GRA-GRNN模型选取主要影响因素及对其强度进行分析,并将其结果与BP神经网络模型预测结果进行了对比。从实验结果可知,影响爆堆爆破后形变强度排前三的因素为:爆破前地形方向、爆孔排距和列距,强度分别为0.880、0.760和0.755,预测结果优于BP模型。  相似文献

Cu?diamond composites have been proposed as a candidate thermal management material for spacecraft electronics. Nevertheless, irradiation effects on the composites remain poorly understood at present. Here we focus on investigating the influence of Cu?diamond interfaces (CDIs) on energetic displacement cascades using atomistic simulations. Results show that a primary knock-on atom of Cu (PKA-Cu) can induce more significant damage than a PKA-C. Under almost all circumstances, the statistically averaged fraction of surviving interstitials is not only lower than that of vacancies but also no more than 1. Because of the unique nature in the mobility and interactions with CDIs, Cu interstitials exhibit the lowest concentration among all defects in most cases. The high residual rate of displaced defects in diamond makes it relatively difficult to heal. The structural damage is mainly manifested in a short-range disorder of diamond and a long-range disorder of Cu after irradiation. At elevated temperatures, the atomic displacement region may form compact chain-like defects to restrain lattice loosening. Despite the above, CDIs could act as effective sinks to facilitate the recombination and/or annihilation of irradiation-induced defects in all scenarios. This study provides an important insight into the understanding of the microscopic evolution of irradiation defects for the composites.  相似文献

This study reports on a numerical investigation of transport behavior of indoor airflow and size-dependent particulate matter (PM) in multi-room buildings. An indoor size-dependent PM transport approach, combining the Eulerian large-eddy simulation of turbulent flow with the Lagrangian particle trajectory tracking, was developed to investigate indoor airflow pattern and PM1/PM2.5/PM10 removal efficiency in naturally ventilated multi-room buildings. A displacement ventilation with a measured indoor PM10 profile in Taipei Metropolis as the initial condition was carried out to characterize spatial and temporal variations of indoor PM1/PM2.5/PM10 removal behavior. The effects of indoor airflow pattern on particle transport mechanisms, e.g., deposition, suspension, migration and escape, were analyzed. Two comparison scenarios, which considered the effects of no indoor partition and different air change rate, respectively, were also conducted. In comparison with the effectiveness of PM1/PM2.5/PM10 removal, the simulated results showed that coarse particles were easier to be removed out of the building than fine particles. Natural ventilation was not an effective way to remove fine particles such as PM1 and PM2.5 in a multi-room building. Indoor partitions can impede 12% of the mean streamwise velocities and significantly increase 30-50% turbulence intensities. However, indoor partitions increased particle deposition and decreased particle escape. As a result of the two opposite particle removal mechanisms, i.e., deposition and escape, the impact of indoor partitions on PM1/PM2.5/PM10 removal behavior was not as significant as the results of airflow velocities. PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: This work developed a computational fluid dynamics technique to investigate indoor airflow patterns and PM1/PM2.5/PM10 removal ability in ventilated multi-room buildings. The results of this paper can help to identify adequate PM1/PM2.5/PM10 cleaning procedure and provide useful size-dependent PM control strategy in multi-room buildings.  相似文献
