Nitrifying population densities and inhibition of ammonium oxidation in natural and sewage-enriched cypress swamps

The occurrence of autotrophic nitrifiers in the peat from the floors of a natural cypress dome, a cypress dome receiving deep artesian groundwater, and two cypress domes amended with secondary treated sewage effluent, were assessed by surveying their population densities. The absence of ammonium oxidation in the surface waters of the natural dome was due to the low pH and not to any toxic organic chemical effects present in the humic-colored water. This probably explains the low density (0–56 cells cm⁻³) of autotrophic nitrifiers found associated with the peat from that dome.     

Hybrid Fuzzy-particle Swarm Optimization-simplex (F-PSO-S) Algorithm for Optimum Design of PM Drive Couplings

This paper aimed at exploring the use of the proposed hybrid Fuzzy-Particle Swarm Optimization-Simplex (F-PSO-S) algorithm to optimize the structural design of PM couplings subject to several key design constraints. The new proposed hybrid optimization algorithm is constructed based on combining three well-known techniques: fuzzy logic (FL), particle swarm optimization (PSO), and simplex method (SM). FL is used to aggregate different scaling and/or conflicting objectives in one objective function using fuzzy combination operators. On the other hand, the PSO has obvious capabilities in global search whereas the SM has exceptional advantages in local search. As a hybrid algorithm, the F-PSO-S has the outstanding feature of combining the ability of global searching and local canvassing for different scales and/or conflicting objective functions. The proposed algorithm has been applied to permanent magnet (PM) drive couplings. A standard coupling design is used as a good initial point for the conventional SM and to define the performance constraints for the proposed optimization technique. New coupling designs are developed and optimized to show the superior capabilities of the F-PSO-S algorithm as a global optimization technique. The sensitivity analysis is also performed to identify the effects of different design parameters on the coupling performance.     

基于BIM的智能化模架在幸福林带项目混凝土双曲屋面中的应用

众多工程实践表明,要达成曲面混凝土建筑安全、高品质、低成本的目标,应用BIM技术对施工方案进行优化具有明显的成效。针对混凝土曲面建筑模板工程施工工艺,采用BIM技术辅助设计和施工,进行结构曲面找型、三维模型结构定位、划分分隔网、优化设计方案,并且精确每根支撑杆件定位和高程。根据双曲面构件详图、BIM三维坐标定位图,科学合理地选择模板架体支撑布置体系,解决了双曲屋面测量定位体系复杂、屋面各点标高难以控制及各类材料用量计算难度大精度低等施工技术难点。     

H2-selective mixed matrix membranes modeling using ANFIS,PSO-ANFIS,GA-ANFIS

The novel contribution of the current study is to employ adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) for evaluation of H₂-selective mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) performance in various operational conditions. Initially, MMMs were prepared by incorporating zeolite 4A nanoparticles into polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and applied in gas permeation measurement. The gas permeability of CH₄, CO₂, C₃H₈ and H₂ was used for ANFIS modeling. In this manner, the H₂/gas selectivity as the output of the model was modeled to the variations of feed pressure, nanofiller contents and the kind of gas, which were defined as input (design) variables. The proposed method is based on the improvement of ANFIS with genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO). The PSO and GA were applied to improve the ANFIS performance. To determine the efficiency of PSO-ANFIS, GA-ANFIS and ANFIS models, a statistical analysis was performed. The results revealed that the PSO-ANFIS model yields better prediction in comparison to two other methods so that root mean square error (RMSE) and coefficient of determination (R²) were obtained as 0.0135 and 0.9938, respectively. The RMSE and R² values for GA-ANFIS were 0.0320 and 0.9653, respectively, and for ANFIS model were 0.0256 and 0.9787, respectively.
