Cellulose acetate membranes (CA) were modified by means of plasma polymerization of ethylene diamine (EDA) and n‐butylamine (n‐BA). The motivation for this work was the application of a modified membrane for the single‐layer enzyme electrode. A tubular reactor with the external radiofrequency (13.56 MHz) excitation was used. Surface modification was performed at 5, 10, and 15 W power (at 27 Pa working pressure) for 5, 10, 15 min. Modified surfaces were characterized in detail by FTIR–ATR, XPS (ESCA), contact angle, and enzyme immobilization activity. The best treatment results were obtained for EDA with 5 W and 30 min and 15 W and 10 min. These results are discussed using surface analysis data. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Two monomers, ethylenediamine (EDA) and diaminocyclohexane (DACH), were plasma‐polymerized in continuous‐wave (CW) and pulse modes. The influence of different plasma parameters on the deposition rate and film composition were investigated in detail and the changes in aminofunctionalization with varying pulse parameters were examined by FTIR, ESCA, and chemical‐derivatization techniques. It was shown that a varying duty cycle does not produce a considerable effect on the retention of amine groups into the film, while power and ton play a significant role in the polymerization process. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Comprehensive bench-scale testing of the effects of calcined coke on the properties ofprebaked anodes for aluminum smelting cells has revealed correlations between coke and anode properties. Extensive measurements of the physical properties of coke as well as impurities, determinations of performance-indicative anode properties, and correlation by regression analyses provided statistically significant relationships which can generally be explained in terms of reasonable chemical and physical interactions.  相似文献

This study was focused on chemical characterisation of liverwort Scapania nemorea extracts and their antimicrobial activity against pathogenic and food-spoiling yeasts and bacteria. The chemical composition of three different extracts of the liverwort S. nemorea was determined by solid phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SPME GC–MS). The dominant compounds in extracts were sesquiterpenes β-bazzanene (11%, 17.9% and 14.6%), isobazzanene (10.2%, 15.8% and 11.7%) and aromadendrene (8.8%, 12.9% and 10.6%) in the methanol, ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts, respectively. Antimicrobial potential of S. nemorea extracts against food spoiling yeasts and bacteria was determined in vitro by microdilution method. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) varied from 0.5 to 3 mg/mL for bacteria, and from 0.2 to 1 mg/mL for yeasts. Moreover, the combined effects of dry methanol extract of S. nemorea and heat processing on the survival and growth of a spoilage yeast in an apple/orange-based beverage, have been assessed through a Central Composite Design. Changes in color and flavor of the beverages were considered acceptable also after one week of storage at 25 °C. The results provide evidence of antimicrobial potential of S. nemorea extracts and suggest its potential as natural antimicrobial agent for food preservation.  相似文献

Composite SiOx/hydrocarbon plasma polymer films have been prepared by RF sputtering of silica and hydrocarbon polymer (polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP)) targets placed on two balanced magnetrons. The morphology and composition of the composite films have been analysed by means of AFM, RBS/ERDA, FTIR, and XPS. The obtained films demonstrated wide range of wettability and hardness in dependence on the preparation conditions. When the ratio of RF powers delivered to the individual targets PSiO2/PPE(PPP) changed from 0.1 to 10 the static contact angles of water varied from 75° to 25° and from 80° to 33° for composite films obtained from PE and PP, respectively. The hardness of the composite films varied from 2400 to 3400 N/mm2 and from 1600 to 2000 N/mm2 for the above-mentioned cases, respectively. Peculiar properties of the composite SiOx/hydrocarbon plasma polymer films have been discussed with respect to the elemental composition and nature of the chemical bonds established on the surface of the films.  相似文献

Concentrations of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) were determined in air samples from near suspected sources, namely an indoors computer laboratory, indoors and outdoors at an electronics recycling facility, and outdoors at an automotive shredding and metal recycling facility. The results showed that (1) PBDE concentrations in the computer laboratorywere higherwith computers on compared with the computers off, (2) indoor concentrations at an electronics recycling facility were as high as 650,000 pg/m3 for decabromodiphenyl ether (PBDE 209), and (3) PBDE 209 concentrations were up to 1900 pg/m3 at the downwind fenceline at an automotive shredding/metal recycling facility. The inhalation exposure estimates for all the sites were typically below 110 pg/kg/day with the exception of the indoor air samples adjacent to the electronics shredding equipment, which gave exposure estimates upward of 40,000 pg/kg/day. Although there were elevated inhalation exposures at the three source sites, the exposure was not expected to cause adverse health effects based on the lowest reference dose (RfD) currently in the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS), although these RfD values are currently being re-evaluated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. More research is needed on the potential health effects of PBDEs.  相似文献

The development of lead‐free piezoceramics has attracted great interest because of growing environmental concerns. A polymorphic phase transition (PPT) has been utilized in the past to tailor piezoelectric properties in lead‐free (K,Na)NbO3 (KNN)‐based materials accepting the drawback of large temperature sensitivity. Here a material concept is reported, which yields an average piezoelectric coefficientd33 of about 300 pC/N and a high level of unipolar strain up to 0.16% at room temperature. Most intriguingly, field‐induced strain varies less than 10% from room temperature to 175 °C. The temperature insensitivity of field‐induced strain is rationalized using an electrostrictive coupling to polarization amplitude while the temperature‐dependent piezoelectric coefficient is discussed using localized piezoresponse probed by piezoforce microscopy. This discovery opens a new development window for temperature‐insensitive piezoelectric actuators despite the presence of a polymorphic phase transition around room temperature.  相似文献

The essential oil of Thymus algeriensis was analyzed as a potential preservative in soft cheese. We developed a novel method to test the preserving properties of essential oil in soft cheese. Contamination incidence of Penicillium aurantiogriseum was absent after 30 d of storage at 4°C with 25 µL of essential oil added. The antimicrobial activity was tested against 8 bacteria and 8 fungi. Thymus algeriensis oil showed inhibitory activity against tested bacteria at 0.03 to 0.09 mg/mL, and bactericidal activity was achieved at 0.05 to 0.15 mg/mL. For antifungal activity, minimum inhibitory concentrations ranged between 0.01 and 0.04 mg/mL and minimum fungicidal concentrations between 0.01 and 0.04 mg/mL. Furthermore, the oil was also screened for antiradical activity using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl assay. The results showed that the oil was active and achieved half-maximal inhibitory activity at 0.132 mg/mL. We used gas chromatography, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry to investigate the volatile compounds from the oil. Carvacrol was identified as the main compound in the oil, represented by 80.9% of the total constituents, followed by p-cymene (7.7%).  相似文献
