Several modifications and enhancements to control charts in increasing the performance of small and moderate process shifts have been introduced in the quality control charting techniques. In this paper, a new hybrid control chart for monitoring process location is proposed by combining two homogeneously weighted moving average (HWMA) control charts. The hybrid homogeneously weighted moving average (HHWMA) statistic is derived using two smoothing constants λ1 and λ2 . The average run length (ARL) and the standard deviation of the run length (SDRL) values of the HHWMA control chart are obtained and compared with some existing control charts for monitoring small and moderate shifts in the process location. The results of study show that the HHWMA control chart outperforms the existing control charts in many situations. The application of the HHWMA chart is demonstrated using a simulated data.  相似文献

Hunger is a global crisis and impacting the world for a very long time. Significant efforts have been made in the past by various organizations employing various means to address this persisting problem. Despite this, it still remains far from being resolved. Recently, the United Nations has published a report on global hunger, which claims that the global food production is fairly enough to feed the entire world with a population of about 7.3 billion. However, a major quantity of the food grown is not channeled appropriately and effectively to reach the needy and thus gets wasted unfortunately. Using the advanced computer technologies, we devise and develop a web-based computational framework (eFeed-Hungers.com) that serves as a bridge between the food waste and the hunger to mitigate the hunger issue; the food waste is the excess, unused, edible food, which otherwise is destined to the dumpster unfortunately. The eFeed-Hungers.com encourages and assists the food waste donation announcements with the least minimal efforts with the best possible outreach. Through the eFeed-Hungers.com, the food donations are globally searchable by the needy, with enough additional information imparted for quick decisions making to fetch the appropriate donated food. The eFeed-Hungers.com is envisioned to be a fully functional organization eventually with global outreach.  相似文献

The responses of adjoining structures to blast induced ground vibrations emanating from Kopek Construction Quarry, Ikere – Ekiti in Ekiti State were evaluated and predicted. Five off site receptors at predetermined distances from the blast source were chosen and the Peak Particle Velocity (PPV) at each receptor during blasting was estimated using the squared root scaled distance equation. The estimated PPVs were compared with the USBM – RI 8705 reference. The results showed that the blast induced vibrations from the quarry site were within the recommended limits and were insignificant to warrant concerns of causing structural damages to buildings in proximity to the quarry site with the given blast design parameters.  相似文献

Achieving homogenised and stable suspensions has been one of the important research topics in nanofluid investigations. Preparing nanofluids, especially from the two-step method, is often accompanied with varying degrees of agglomerations depending on some parameters. These parameters include the physical structure of the nanoparticle, the prevalent particle charge, the strength of van der Waals forces of attraction and repulsiveness strength. Amongst the methods of deagglomeration, the use of ultrasonic vibration is most popular for achieving uniform dispersion. However, there are very few works related to its effect on the thermo-physical properties of nanofluids, and above all, standardising the minimum required ultrasonication time/energy for nanofluids synthesis. In this work, the optimum energy required for uniform and initially stable nanofluid has been investigated through experimental study on the combined influence of ultrasonication time/energy, nanoparticle size, volume fraction and temperature on the viscosity of alumina–glycerol nanofluids. Three different sizes of alumina nanoparticles were synthesised with glycerol using ultrasonication-assisted two-step approach. The viscosities of the nanofluid samples were measured between temperatures of 20–70?°C for volume fractions up to 5%. Based on the present experimental results, the viscosity characteristics of the nanofluid samples were dependent on particle size, volume fraction and working temperature. Using viscometry, the optimum energy density required for preparing homogenous nanofluid was obtained for all particle sizes and volume fractions. Finally, an energy density model was derived using dimensionless analysis based on the consideration of nanoparticle binding/interaction energy in base fluid, particle size, volume fraction, temperature and other base fluid properties. The model's empirical constants were obtained using nonlinear regression based on the present experimental data.  相似文献
