Minimizing entropy generation is a technique that helps improve the effectiveness of real processes by studying the associated irreversibility of system performance of nanofluid. This study examines the entropy generation analysis of electromagnetohydrodynamic radiative Casson flow induced by a stretching Riga plate in a non-Darcian porous medium under the influence of internal energy change, Arrhenius activation energy, chemical reaction, and melting heat transfer. The thermophysical features of the fluid are assumed constant in most of the literature. However, this current research bridges this gap by considering viscosity, conductivity, and diffusivity as temperature-dependent variables. Also, the exponential decaying Grinberg term is used as a resistive force in this investigation due to the electromagnetic properties of the Riga plate in the momentum conservation equation. Some suitable dimensionless variables are introduced to remodel the transport equations into unitless ones and then solved numerically by employing Galerkin Weighted Residual Method. Analyses reveal that the Casson parameter declines the fluid velocity, while the existence of the melting parameter has the opposite effect. The sensitivity of a monitoring scheme depends on many factors including the variance of the charting statistic which is very important in the computation of the control limits. This paper discusses the computation of the variance of the recently proposed hybrid homogeneously weighted moving average (HHWMA) X¯ scheme which was based on an incorrect assumption. The correct variance is used to evaluate the run-length characteristics of the HHWMA X¯ scheme. It is observed that the incorrect variance has a significant impact on the sensitivity (or performance) of the HHWMA X¯ scheme.  相似文献

Several modifications and enhancements to control charts in increasing the performance of small and moderate process shifts have been introduced in the quality control charting techniques. In this paper, a new hybrid control chart for monitoring process location is proposed by combining two homogeneously weighted moving average (HWMA) control charts. The hybrid homogeneously weighted moving average (HHWMA) statistic is derived using two smoothing constants λ1 and λ2 . The average run length (ARL) and the standard deviation of the run length (SDRL) values of the HHWMA control chart are obtained and compared with some existing control charts for monitoring small and moderate shifts in the process location. The results of study show that the HHWMA control chart outperforms the existing control charts in many situations. The application of the HHWMA chart is demonstrated using a simulated data.  相似文献

This study focused on the exploration of the potentials of extracting antioxidants from peels and stems of yellow-fleshed and white cassava varieties. The effect of particle size (0.2 and 0.5 mm) and variety on the phenolic content and antioxidant activity was assessed. The peels of the yellow-fleshed cassava variety with a particle size of 0.2 mm showed the highest phenolic content with 681.5 GAE mg 100 g−1 and antioxidant activity of 19% and 425 μM TE g−1 dry matter using DPPH and FRAP assays respectively. The stems of the white cassava with a particle size of 0.2 mm exhibited high phenolic content (442.4 GAE mg 100 g−1) and antioxidant activity of 12.8% and 234 μM TE g−1, better than the stem of the yellow-fleshed cassava. These results indicate that phenolic and antioxidant extractions were influenced by variety, the plant parts and particle size for the antioxidant assays.  相似文献

Antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of ethanolic noni leaf extract (ENLE) without and with chlorophyll removal by sedimentation method were comparatively investigated. Total chlorophyll content was reduced by 82% in the top fraction (CR-ENLE) collected after 24 h at 4 °C as compared to that of ENLE. Antioxidant and antimicrobial activities were lower in the bottom fraction rich in chlorophyll (Chlo-ENLE) than others (P < 0.05). Based on the microbiological limit, the shelf-life of striped catfish slices pre-treated with 400 mg kg−1 C-R-ENLE was extended to 9 days as compared to the 3 days recorded for the control (without pre-treatment). Slices treated with CR-ENLE had lower lipid oxidation than those treated with ENLE during refrigerated storage (P < 0.05). The sedimentation process was therefore a potential green method for producing ENLE having improved antioxidant and antimicrobial activities without green colour. It can be used as a natural additive for shelf-life extension of fish slices.  相似文献

Antibacterial properties of ethanolic coconut husk extracts (ECHE) prepared using varying ethanol concentrations as the extracting media against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Listeria monocytogenes and Staphylococcus aureus was studied. ECHE60, prepared using 60% ethanol, had similar minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration to those extracted using 80% and 100% ethanol (P ˂ 0.05). When Asian sea bass (Lates calcarifer) slices were treated with ECHE60 at 200 and 400 ppm, the quality changes were monitored in comparison with the control (without treatment) during 12 days of refrigerated storage (4 °C). The shelf life of sea bass treated with 400 ppm ECHE60 was extended to 9 days, whereas the control had a shelf life of 3 days. Lipid oxidation was lowered in ECHE60 treated samples than the control during storage. Therefore, ECHE60 could inhibit both spoilage and pathogenic bacteria and also extended the shelf life of sea bass slices.  相似文献

CO2 based power and refrigeration cycles have been developed and analyzed in different existing studies. However, the development of a CO2 based comprehensive energy system and its performance analysis have not been considered. In this study, the integration of a CO2 based solar parabolic trough collector system, a supercritical CO2 power cycle, a transcritical CO2 power cycle, and a CO2 based cascade refrigeration system for hydrogen production and multigeneration purpose is analyzed thermodynamically. This study aims to analyze and compare the difference in the thermodynamic performance of comprehensive energy systems when CO2 is used as the working fluid in all the cycles with a system that uses other working fluids. Therefore, two comprehensive energy systems with the same number of subsystems are designed to justify the comparison. The second comprehensive energy system uses liquid potassium instead of CO2 as a working fluid in the solar parabolic trough collector and a steam cycle is used to replace the transcritical CO2 power cycle. Results of the energy and exergy performance analysis of two comprehensive energy systems showed that the two systems can be used for the multigeneration purpose. However, the use of a steam cycle and potassium-based solar parabolic trough collector increases the comprehensive energy systems’ overall energy and exergy efficiency by 41.9% and 26.7% respectively. Also, the use of liquid potassium as working fluid in the parabolic trough collectors increases the absorbed solar energy input by 419 kW and 2100 kW thereby resulting in a 23% and 90.7% increase in energetic and exergetic efficiency respectively. The carbon emission reduction potential of the two comprehensive energy systems modelled in this study is also analyzed.  相似文献

New carbon composite materials were prepared by pyrolysis of mixture of coffee wastes and red mud at 700 °C with the inorganic: organic ratios of 1.9 (CC-1.9) and 2.2 (CC-2.2). These adsorbents were used to remove reactive orange 16 (RO-16) and reactive red 120 (RR-120) textile dyes from aqueous solution. The CC-1.9 and CC-2.2 materials were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Nitrogen adsorption/desorption curves, scanning electron Microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The kinetic of adsorption data was fitted by general order kinetic model. A three-parameter isotherm model, Liu isotherm model, gave the best fit of the equilibrium data (298 to 323 K). The maximum amounts of dyes removed at 323 K were 144.8 (CC-1.9) and 139.5 mg g?1 (CC-2.2) for RO-16 dye and 95.76 (CC-1.9) and 93.80 mg g?1 (CC-2.2) for RR-120 dye. Two simulated dyehouse effluents were used to investigate the application of the adsorbents for effluent treatment.  相似文献
